West Bromwich Albion FC / Mid table championship club
« on: August 26, 2018, 09:51:10 AM »
Since JP said this we have theoretically moved up a couple of places (although in reality down!). If you check the Premier League site, we are currently 20th in the list of number of Premier League wins.  :D
Villa are 9th, Blues 31st and them Dingles 41st.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Distribution
« on: August 30, 2015, 08:54:13 AM »
I keep reading that our distribution is woeful and that it has been for a number of seasons now (and I agree that when watching the game some of it can seem terrible) but when you compare with other teams, our pass completion stats are pretty much bang average against the rest of the Premier League (79% successful compared to 80% successful). Do we have our expectations set too high or is the standard of passing across the Premier League too low? (Yesterday we had 84% success rate according to Kick app provided by Samsung )

At the end of last season (or even the beginning of this) what position did you expect us to be in after 12 games and why?

This is an interesting site for identifying injuries.  Doesn't take into account "fitness" though ;-)

West Bromwich Albion FC / Selling mistakes
« on: July 20, 2014, 10:50:12 AM »
Number of people seem to think that letting Thorne go to Derby is a mistake.  Out of interest can you think of any other players we have sold down the chain that have gone on to better themselves? I recall names of kids we have released but nobody immediately springs to mind.

In an age where players get booked for removing shirts (because sponsors lose vital advertising time?) do the Premier League want clubs out of the big four/six to do well?

Little old Albion do not have the global pull that the London sides and Manchester teams have and therefore as a "business strand" are not as profitable on the global market. In our first ventures into the Premier League it was suggested that it was "bent" with decisions going against us (and other small teams) are we starting to miss out on decisions again (and when we do they don't get highlighted in the media as they would for the top six sides)?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Long ball team?
« on: November 25, 2011, 01:20:42 PM »
I have seen a lot of criticism that RH is turning us into a boring long ball team. Not sure where the BBC have got the statistic from but it would seem that this analysis is innaccurate.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15802713.stm

"Only Manchester City and Arsenal have played fewer long balls per game this season than West Brom."

(Does that even make grammatical sense?)

West Bromwich Albion FC / Highest finishing position

Prior to last season, what has been the highest finishing position the Albion have attained in your life time and when?

(I need to check before I can post mine! :-[)
