It is not the taking part, but the winning that counts.

#wba are in talks with #Hull over deal for winger Kamil Grosicki. Substantive deal, not a loan. Polish international was linked with #nffc and #celtic but looks like he’s heading to the Hawthorns.

Nice one if we get him, would love Bowen as well  ;D

Twitter saying mystery man is Grosicki.

Edit - beat me to it :D

Only 5 months left on his contract. Shouldn't be a bank breaker.

Edit - they have an option, boooo

Didn't realise he was 32 soon, thought he was 28/29 tops. Meh.

Groski is a very good player, yes he is 31 but he is an improvement on Phillips in my opinion.

I am sure it is only an 18 month deal and it is his last chance to play in the Prem so he is going to be up for the challenge.
His link up play with Bowen is excellent. A huge fan favourite with Hull.

It's a buy for the here and now, to get us over the line

If that's our strategy then i have no problem with that, we normally don't have one at all.

Can't go too high on the wages then as we'd need to shift him in about 18 months time.

Masi said bid now accepted so should be down to discuss terms.

Have to say I don't mind this to much although I'm expecting the majority of reactions to be along the lines up 'typical cheapskate Albion, no ambition etc etc)

Decent player at this level and has done 'ok' in the PL before. Realistically if we want a guaranteed upgrade on Phillips/Diangana etc then you're looking at the likes of Bowen who are out of our price range at the moment. Compared to Orsic at £8m I'd take Grosicki at a couple of million every time.

Not a glamour name or big name but I think it's a fairly sensible signing.

Brilliant player at low cost of transfer fee and wages, is a no brainer. 31 years old in this day and age is no issue at all

With him turning 32 in the summer, i'm not sure how to feel about this being a permanent deal.

Every time i've seen him play i've really liked him, but I do always ask myself how Hull can havr bith him and the more exciting Bowen and yet still spend so much time near the wrong end of the table.

This near enough confirms Orsic won't be signing with us, but if the fee is right for Grosicki - no more than £2.5 million, then it might be a decent signing.

Once again though, Dowling just signing players who he knows from the prem or championship. Seems we have no scouting network in Europe other than who Bilic reccommends.

Will be a big issue if we fail to go up and lose the enhanced parachute payments next season though.

He is a very good player no doubt but the main thing for me is that he will give massive competition to our inconsistent and underperforming wingers
Ohhhhh Albion we love you!

Has always played well v us. He's not an optimal age, but expect that to be reflected in the transfer fee. Obviously, if we want a 24 year old striker at same level, would cost us an extra ca. £10 million which may not be in our budget. A fact of life.
He with Robinson gives some extra competition to Phillips, Edwards and Diangana. I hope though, this doesn't mean HRK has been let off the hook because we must find a better option up top.

Better than Matt Phillips. Where has this 800k fee come from though? I haven't seen a fee mentioned anywhere.

Reported to be £800k transfer fee.

Must be someone else coming in or we will be making a profit this window.

Always liked him, will kick Phillips up the backside, just a very short sighted deal. But tbf that's what they said they would do. Dowling said they would buy to get up
