West Bromwich Albion FC / How do you feel?
« on: January 02, 2021, 10:26:05 PM »
Not sure if it’s the current situation with COVID and no fans, but does anyone else feel completely disconnected with the club and football as a whole.

Genuinely find myself not being bothered by our results anymore.

I would take a Gary megson 11 over this crop any day of the week.

£8 million fee agreed.

Medical expected.

Looking at some of the comments on Twitter, quite a few of the Cardiff fans seem a bit sad about losing him, some saying they thought he would have a good season this year etc etc.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Next manager...
« on: March 09, 2019, 07:58:58 PM »
Personally I think this has Big Sam written all over it.

Someone needs to come in who demands respect, and a huge promotion bonus on offer.

Just been told that Big Dave had lost the faith of some of the players in the squad. Was told her had to win today’s game to save his job. Maybe that explains the performance.

West Bromwich Albion FC / New GK coach
« on: January 10, 2019, 12:56:13 PM »
Couldn’t find any old topics, mods move if necessary.

Looks as though we are bringing in a new GK coach:

Alan Nixon: WEST BROM. New member of staff coming. Keeper coach. Gary Walsh. Goes back a long way with Darren Moore. Experienced.

About time he had his own thread.

Pete O'Rourke has just confirmed he's sealed his deal.

General Football & Sports / Graeme Jones

https://www.wba.co.uk/news/2018/august/albion-confirm-jones-appointment/

ALBION are today delighted to confirm the appointment of Graeme Jones as new Assistant Head Coach.

Graeme joins fresh from his successful role alongside Roberto Martinez in helping guide Belgium to a third-place finish at this summer’s World Cup.

The reunion with Head Coach Darren Moore comes after the pair struck up a lifelong friendship during one season together earlier in their playing careers at Doncaster Rovers.

But it is a partnership Darren has been eager to resume in the belief that he has found the perfect blend for a new era at The Hawthorns.

Darren says: “Graeme and I have never been out of contact since those first days together at Doncaster and I cannot tell you how delighted I am to have him alongside me.

“He has all the right qualities as a man and all the right qualities as a coach. His attention to detail, his career record, and his qualities as a human being are exactly why I was determined he join me.

“He is an attack-minded coach and while I know what I want from our forward play, I believe Graeme can deliver that with precision.”

Graeme was at the Palm Training Ground today busily helping Darren make plans for the season’s opener against Bolton at The Hawthorns.

Darren insisted Graeme take a family holiday after the intensity of his World Cup campaign with Nacer Chadli’s Belgium to ensure he was fresh for the Championship challenge looming.

Now the pair will achieve their mutual dream of working together as they step into the home dug-out for the first time on Saturday.

Graeme says: “From a football perspective we need to get Albion back to where we should be, where we were.”

You can see Graeme’s first interview on his new appointment here at WBATV tomorrow.

General Football & Sports / First and Favourite footballing memories...
« on: November 04, 2016, 11:29:49 AM »
As per the subject question, whats your first footballing memory and whats your favourite footballing memory.

Doesnt have to be WBA related, ill go first.

First footballing memory that sticks out to me is my first wba game, was against Shef Wednesday at home, I sat in the Smethwick end with my dad, the east stand hadnt been built at the time but just remember sitting in the stand thinking WOW. (although I cant remember the score  :-[ )

Footballing memory, one has to be the great escape, will always stick with me and the emotion on that day cannot be topped.

I always remember the Liverpool Milan final quite clearly too, such a mermorable final.

General Football & Sports / Managers who just suddenly stopped
« on: November 02, 2016, 03:06:59 PM »
On the way to work this morning, I was bizzarely thinking of some managers who left their role and then just didnt get another job.

People like Souness, Curbishley.

It got me thinking that there must be a list of managers who have just not had a job for a while now, can anyone think of any 'good' or 'high profile' names?

General Football & Sports / Ronaldo or Messi
« on: March 23, 2015, 08:34:50 AM »
Simple question really.

Are you team CR or team Lionel, and why.

Personally I prefer Ronaldo, but I think Messi is the better player.

For me Messi, is on a different planet and his first touch is at times ridiculous. But I prefer Ronaldo out the two.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Rank our midfielders.
« on: January 26, 2015, 08:32:29 AM »
I havent been on here much over the weekend, been catching up on posts this morning, with people talking about our midfielders not being good enough etc, particularly Brunt, Dorrans and Gardner.

I want peoples opinions on how they see our midfield, I want you to rank our midfield in order of who you thinks the best down to 'the worst.'

Be interesting to see if you all share the same views.

General Football & Sports / Which under 21 England striker would you have?
« on: December 15, 2014, 08:26:39 PM »
Berahino
Kane
Austin
Ings

Just a general question, all 3 have seen a large amount of game time in the premier league this season, all on around the same number of goals, but all have different attributes to their game.

Which striker if you had the choose of all 3, would you have in your team?

General Football & Sports / Pundits
« on: December 08, 2014, 08:31:38 PM »
Very simple question:

Who is your favourite and pundit and why?

Ill go with, Neville. Think he will make a good manager one day, 9 times out of 10 he talks sense and seems to have a good understanding of the game and how it should be played.

Worst pundit and why?

Im going to go with Lawrenson, the guy literally grinds my gears. Speaks utter nonsense on match of the day, and when he is commentating always trys to make a smug remark or a rubbish joke.

« on: November 24, 2014, 12:07:24 PM »
If you were the head coach, what starting 11 would you pick based on our current squad.

Be interesting to see peoples opinions on who they think should be starting as opposed to who is starting under AI.

Il do mine.

Foster

Gamboa
Lescott
Dawson
Poco

Gardner
Mulumbu

Brunt Sess Valera
Berahino

Bench

Myhill
Wisdom
McAuley
Dorrans
Morrison
Blanco

West Bromwich Albion FC / Best Goal You've Seen At the Hawthorns?
« on: April 24, 2013, 01:02:01 PM »
Probably been a topic before but i couldnt find it.

Was discussing some of the best players Ive seen play against the baggies at the Hawthorns, the likes of Henry, Zola etc, got me thinking whats the best goal youve seen at the Hawthorns from an opposing team?

Also, who have you been honoured to watch at the Hawthorns?

For me growing up, Henry was my favourite player so to see him play and score was good. (not at the time obviously).

Your opinions....

General Football & Sports / Football Cliches
« on: February 06, 2013, 03:11:31 PM »
Was thinking of some of the football cliches we hear all the time.
Ill start with a few...

It’s a game of 90 minutes.

It’s a game of two halves.

He’s got a great engine.

They are too good to go down.

The real winner tonight was football.

There’s no easy games in this league.

That’s part of the magic of the FA Cup.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Squad of 22
« on: June 29, 2012, 10:15:35 AM »
Just read Laudrups interview about trimming the Swansea squad down to 22.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11731/7851084/Laudrup-set-to-trim-squad

Got me thinking, as a few on here wouldnt have minded Laudrup as our boss at the time, what 22 in our current squad would you pick?

West Bromwich Albion FC / If Birmingham were to allow us..
« on: May 23, 2012, 01:40:50 PM »
to have one of Hughton or Foster, who would you choose?

With Hughton being the favourite for the job on the new managers poll, and Foster being a fans favourite, IF birmingham were to turn round and say we could only have one, who would you take?

23
West Bromwich Albion FC / Retro WBA Shirts
« on: May 17, 2012, 08:48:26 AM »
Anyone know were to buy some from for relatively cheap?

Dont really want to be forking out £40+

Fed up of buying the new shirt every season, would rather have a 'old school' retro one. Looks smarter.

General Football & Sports / Europa League final
« on: May 10, 2012, 08:29:53 AM »
Finished 3 - 0 to Ath.Madrid.

Falcao looks a very tidy player, as does Munian of Bilbao.

Ive been following Bilbao since they school'd United in the Europa league this season and have been impressed with some of their performances.

Were simply shown up last night however by a resurrgent Madrid team.

Can see some of the big boys coming in for Falcao.

25
Ashworth or Hodgson?

If come the end of the season we could only keep one of the above for the next 2-3 years, who would you have and why?

My choice would be Ashworth, as he as a large say in transfers and the running of the club anyway I think he has brought us a very long way.

As has Hodgson however.

Your choices....
