I am not as despondent as other posters on here.

Just need a start to get going, why not against Liverpool.

Can't see it at all. In fact if we don't lose against Liverpool I'll never post on here again.

Anyone listened to his pre match conference? He mentioned our young fullback will learn a lot against Salah? Who is he on about because Nyom and Gibbs certainly aren’t ‘young.’

IF Salah plays he'll be up against Gibbs.

I cannot see us keeping Salah quiet. Having said that his mate Hegazi may do a number on him. However, I think it will be 2-0 to them.

We have two games where nothing is expected of us, would love to get a point out of either.

We may well get beat but there is always an outside chance we could get something out of this, and that is what I am going to believe in, well until 10.00pm. ;D

Couldn't have a worse game at this moment in time. Our players, the few that are fit, are low in confidence and feeling sorry for themselves whereas Liverpool are on a real high and playing some great football.
Think we will revert to Pulis tactics and get pegged back into our own half. I can see this lasting 15 mins at most, at which point we either come out fighting or cower in the corner and get a kicking. Sadly my money is on the latter.

Hope Pards can instill some belief but, at the minute, we are like a rescue dog who, after years of mistreatment, refuses to come out of his cage, even though he has the chance of a new life with a loving family (might even get to play with an actual ball!!)!

4-5-1

Foster

Nyom
Hegazi (very lucky to keep his place but Liverpools pace will probably be too much for G-Mac)
Evans
Gibbs

Phillips
Krychowiak
Yacob
Livermore
Brunt

Rondon

subs

Myhill McAuley McClean Robson-Kanu Rodriguez Field Burke
Has to be 4-5-1 tonight and that lineup is as good as any.
We don't have anyone who can play the ball through the middle so, our only hope is getting crosses into the box. With Brunt and Phillips on either flank, we can do that but Greg, Yacob and Livermore HAVE to get up in support. If Rondon is the only one in the box he will get beat 9 times out of 10 regardless of how good the cross is.

I'd go similar but would swap Livermore for Field. I'd also consider Rodriguez in place of Rondon but can't make my mind up about that.

I can understand why you would say that but I'm not so sure for two reasons:

1) it means us playing three defensive midfielders again which has not been successful for us
2) Liverpool's weakness is the spaces vacated by their full backs - leaving just one player advanced is unlikely take advantage of this

Only change for me would be Field for Livermore, but I think this is the set up we need until we can get the front and midfield working.

5-1 Liverpool

FGS: Firmino

Just about to type out Liverpool forward prediction but pretty much parroting what Fritzl said.
We're unlikely  to be able to absorb pressure and Liverpool weakness is at the back so best bet is to get at them. Maybe even a chance to give Burke a go if Phillips isn't fully fit yet. Can't see a back to the walls defensive effort yielding anything for us; even if Big Sam got some success with such an approach on Sunday.

Coutinho and Firmino are nailed on to start. Mane is nailed on to be rested/dropped. Salah I am unsure on. He only played an hour on Sunday so could start.

Salah has a minor hamstring by all accounts.

Who says Krycho is world class?
I've seen him several times and I don't think he's good enough to get a place in our team.
Why should he use our club, earn £108k per week,to get to a better club next season, get rid in January if possible.

go look at The Pole's half-field pass to Rondon for our first goal vs Watford and tell me which other midfielder on our roster can come even close to pulling that off. Don't worry, I'll wait.
