Albion Matchday Forum / Re: Trouble
« on: February 21, 2011, 08:02:24 PM »
Several Wolves fans on facebook seem to be enjoying the trouble yesterday, comments of "did you enjoy the flares" - I did enjoy them tbh, because neither of the two smoke bombs they had failed to reach the Albion fans. It landed amongst themselves the thick inbred twonks.

They then start going on about us been "all mouth". Rather hypocritical methinks. They've laughed at our attendances with many of them forgetting about there attendances in the past and the fact that they didn't manage to sell out for the first leg of the play offs.

« on: February 21, 2011, 07:25:39 PM »
I think it's hard to say, if you look at our fixture list and some of our performances of late we'll be favourites with some fans of other clubs. Hopefully we raise our tempo for when the bigger teams face us.

Wigan are a decent footballing team but in my opinion are a rather unpredictable side who much like ourselves find it hard to withstand pressure and cope with the physical side of the game.

West Ham are an average side with the exception of one or two players. Scott Parker remains vital to them, if they're to lose him through injury they could be in for a struggle.

Wolves and Blackpool I reckon will be down there, Blackpool have hit a freefall lately, much like ourselves. Wolves from what I saw yesterday aren't the greatest side in this division..

I think it'll be

Wigan
West Ham or Blackpool
and one of either us or Wolves - The game at the Molineux being pivotal

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Who is our actual 'bogey team' ?
« on: February 21, 2011, 07:20:17 PM »
I don't agree with all this bogey team nonsense. That means nothing to the likes of Paul Scharner and co who weren't here over previous seasons. I know some fans are quick to right us off because Stoke normally beat us, well, in-fact they're a team in this league we should be looking to take points from.

I made a sarcastic comment in the pre match thread which isn't the same view as this.

Premier league safety is paramount and I'm prepared to accept it whichever way it comes. Of course, it would be nice to do it the 'beautiful' way but sometimes you have to have a mixture of variety in order to not become to predictable.

If Hodgson can get the 442 to work and suit us well, I don't think we'll see too much hoofball unless it's needed. The second half yesterday saw more ball retention and decent build up play, much better than what we saw in the first so obviously the indications are that we can't deal or are either not suited with the route 1 style.

Whats needed more than anything is us been able to with stand pressure for periods of time. If we can manage this then our chances of staying up will strengthen, although we have some of the better teams coming up. Two banks of four are quite hard to break down, Wolves had their fair share of possession yesterday but never really hurt us. I'd quite really settle for that if it meant we can get a few more points rather than pressing two far up the pitch and being caught out.

Horrrible island especially when drivers start making last minute decsions. I have no sympathy for those who park by the ground. If you want to get away quicker and easier park futher away - Plus its much cheaper.

Horrible island.

Gonzalo Jara - 5 - Struggled.

Gabriel Tamas - 6 - Hit and miss

Jonas Olsson - 8 - determind and no nonsense - MOTM

Nicky Shorey - 6 - Reliable

Chris Brunt - 5 - Poor, not what I expected from him

Paul Scharner - 7 - Some smashing tackles fitting for a derby.

Graham Dorrans - 7 - Calm on the ball, not his best display, not his worst.

Jerome Thomas - 5 - Never did enough.

Peter Odemwingie - 5 - Not his best.

Marc Fortune - 5 - Needs to use his strength better. Missed a glorious chance. Final ball was abit poor

------------

Carlos Vela - 7 - Right place right time.

Steven Reid - 6 - Experience is valuable, two smashing challenges late on to raise the tempo.

Watching MOTD last night Hodgson impressed me in the way he came across. He's not given us a definite answer as in to whether we'll stay up but he's said the boys will put in their maximum effort.

I'd like to see us go to Stoke and just grind out a result. Results are more important at the minute and if we can be tough to beat away from home we'll have every chance.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Signs that Hodgson is changing things?
« on: February 21, 2011, 11:54:44 AM »
In the opening half hour I thought what we needed was ab it of possession just to calm ourselves down and get a foothold in the game. It all seemed very route one approach. I thought we looked okay defensively, Jara had a problem dealing with Matt Jarvis but so have some of the better right backs in this league. Bar the Tamas incident I thought we were much better than in previous games.

Wolves had more possession but never really did anything with it, although we had less we created far more chances which is pleasing from our point of view.

Its still going to take time for Roy to get his methods on how the game should be played into the side.

Lets get Ray Wilkins in!

He weren't very happy with us sacking Roberto, so I doubt he'd take it.

Stoke need to think long term, give us a result so they can have the usual 4/6 points next season

Fantastic thinking that, Dexy..

Three points please.

He's decent a working himself an opening but the final product is then shocking. It must be a confidence issue for him again at the moment. Maybe one goal will just kick start him. I normally can't fault his effort but I thought he could of applied himself better today.

Although Fortune might seem half soaked infront of goal Fortune's effort is much better.

Both keepers have their good and bad points. I like them both, but even I'd be tempted to give Scott Carson another run. Maybe the competition will help bring the best from him. I could just imagine his name been announced at The Hawthorns. The pathetic moaning and the booing  :-[

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Mulumbu is essential to us.
« on: February 20, 2011, 07:00:51 PM »
He gives up the energy in the middle to go and press the opposition and that's why he's so important. We're not saying he's the worlds greatest but it seems to be when he's there the rest of the team seem to follow him up.

It says something to the man when he's been MOTM nearly every bloody week.

Does what he has to but really is nothing special. If they had a player of Mulumbu's ilk they'd have quite a good midfield on their hands. That Milijas looks a class act.

Doesn't look half the player he did earlier in the season and to give him the captaincy is abysmal. The man isn't a leader and his head drops quicker than any of the others. I'd like to see Hodgson vacate the captaincy and give it too a natural leader. I.e. Steven Reid or Paul Scharner.

Fed up of repeating myself, we cry out for a good centre back and when we get one he's never used.

Thought it was shocking for a team winning 1-0 in a local derby. When they sang in unison it sounded like a bunch of jibberish anyway. One of the worst followings to come our place this season.

Shocking song to sing about Billy Wright and I'm glad not many joined in. If they'd of sang something about Astle we would of hit the roof.

It's also annoying how late we leave our final ball. That then leaves no room to make any run. Then there's the odd occasion where we are onside the ball through is poor or the ball gets over run.

Missed the game with illness. Last thing we want is the flu spreading round.

After what I've heard some of our 'fans' say about him - I'd rather him go because I do reckon theres a decent keeper there.

« on: February 20, 2011, 04:33:13 PM »
Good at start and decent most of first half even after they scored but quite flat second half apart from the expected Dingle p-take...................however, the equaliser had the stand shaking as we rammed the BOING back down thier throats...........best BOING for years..............

I agree, hated hearing them take the michael out the boing boing. Certainly left them rather sour mouthed at the end. It's always nice to score late goals but it's ten times better against your local rivals.

There song "The black countrys ours" was also just as pathetic.

I thought they where poor in honesty, even at 1-0 they didn't sing apart from the odd outburst of 'Jamie O'Hara'

I said the loser today would go down, but I'd be willing to say we're both in trouble. They weren't shocking but weren't exactly brilliant either.
