I think we've been the better team and have been unlucky. Yes, the defending for their goal was poor but they did the same and our deflected shot tamely went into their keepers hands while theirs went to the striker.

Nonetheless, it's still been too powderpuff at times and sadly I don't know how we plan on becoming more attacking with that bench.

I agree not a lot in it at all. I do think TM has told them to turn and run before passing back ans Diagana seems to be playing with more freedom.

It's a sad reflection of our academy that we have had no one good enough to step up to the first team for ages now in the striker role.

Morgan Rogers?

I'm pretty sure in the quote from Corberan talking about his coaching team and who/why he was taking them Abella wasn't mentioned so maybe Corberan didn't want him as part of his team or maybe he wanted to stay..or maybe his role doesn't exist at Valencia?

According to the O/S he is listed as First Team Statistical Analyst.

He has got us (generally) playing in a similar style to the start of the season; with us moving the ball much quicker through midfield into attack.

Perhaps the club are following the ted lasso approach, but with Brunt as Ted and Abella as Nate.

Brunt on Abella here :

https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/2025/01/03/albion-very-grateful-for-decision-and-influence-from-coach-damia-abella/

Will we consider him if we get another win at the weekend? Assuming he has all his badges, and wants the job.

I think that is exactly what's going on. It's a big decision for him not to move on with CC but to stick around instead. Let Brunt deal with the PR aspects of management and let him quietly get on with being a great coach.

I did not realise that Damia Abella was in the the back room staff who won a promotion with Claudio Ranieri in 2021 at Watford. I'm quite enjoying Brunt ball, so take your time appointing a permanent manager!

Started way too slow and payed the price. At least we won’t have to listen to idiots saying give the job to brunt on wm. However that was nowhere near good enough tonight

The idiots would be those thinking you can draw any kind of conclusion from tonight's game. We hit the post twice, they hit the post and scored and got an OG. Will judge brunty and the team in the next game.

it was a run of 21 games from November 22 to April 23 where he scored 7 times. So a decent chunk of time.

I had to do a double-take when I read he had played 21 games, I thought his second injury was only a few games after his return.

similar to the swansea game for me should have been out of sight by half time.

good to see a strong mentality in the team however to grind out a result, sets us up well going forward.

I agree about the strong mentality, I’ve watched us to many times get frustrated in games like that and loose 1-nil.

After getting a result against Sunderland, you know this lot will play to final whistle. 2-1 to Albion with us just hanging on.

3-0, we are due some luck in front of goal and it’s a great chance to make a statement to go top.

Solid performance especially at the back against one of the best attacking sides in the league. I don't recall them having a serious shot on target.

We created 3 clear cut chances that should of been buried and plenty of half chances so can't really complain about the setup either if the strikers are missing sitters.

To be fair to him he had no choice but to send Corberan off.

Decent start to the season, I think we edged that. First 11 look OK but we lack depth on the bench. I think our seasons fortunes will be tied to squad fitness.

If you are taking a child instead of another child, I see no need to do anything unless I am missing something.

Would a child also need to download the app?

They won’t be showing yet . My understanding is that they will appear on a match to match basis on or near the day of the match

Will you be able to transfer them to someone else? I'm thinking if my youngest does not fancy a game I could take one of my eldests friends.

A really good response. I would quite happily use a system where i could let them sell my sons seat if i knew he wasn't going to be attending but i'm not sure our online ticketing system could handle it  ;D

That would be the perfect scenario, they know to expect a big crowd for a game and ask you to confirm or give up a seat that's not been used for a while.

Got mine and two for the kids as well, it's been a long time since I have had a ST.

I noticed on the confirmation email it will be added to the phone app, can I call the ticket line and request one of the cards instead?

I would of taken 0-0 at HT before the game. Hopefully we get more time on the ball in the 2nd half.

Question anyone that has been what is the Soton Stadium atmosphere like? Everytime I watched them on TV it didn't seem that great (but then again so were most of ours until a few odd occasions like Preston)

It's a decent stadium and fan base and they will be well up for this game, especially with Pompey winning league one. We have enough to beat this lot but how fit Ché Adams is will be a big factor for the 2nd leg.
