Did any f you ever see the Ripping Yarn Golden Gordon?

The strip isn't important, you could run down the field stark bollock naked for all i care.

Albion fans must be the only fans in the country who go on about a bloody shirt so much. No wonder Peace and now Lai have had such an easy ride.
It's what you fill the shirt with that counts.
They will be selling the shirts for next to nothing in a few months.
Gullible or what?

Good signing.

Good price.

Especially like his comments, seems like he is determined to be a success here.

Welcome back Romaine.

He also seems to come across as very modest which is a change from the big time Charlies we have had here.

If any players are reading this...you know who you are. :-*

I have been looking at a clip of his best moments with Brentford on youtube, he will bring a new dimension to our game.

Wonder if he'll be announced at the game this evening?

Hope so if not sooner. He is having his medical today so should be done and dusted by tonight. Then again this is the Albion.

We were on about it on another site, i said it might be a judgement of God.

Seriously i was worried that it might have crashed like it did in 2006.

Either you really believe in Christmas miracles or you've spent too much time in the sun today and it's addled your brain. No chance!

Well, nothing to lose in hoping.

I think we need some loans such a Perreira for an example with an option to buy. No good breaking the bank now, who knows Lai might spend a bit of money in January.
The priority is being nicely placed at Christmas.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Darnell Furlong sign for WBA
« on: July 25, 2019, 10:20:06 PM »
Furlong has said that he is hopefully linking up with Matty Phillips again down the right side.
Furlong says his strength is his fitness and stamina and his strengths are bombing up the flank and back.
He also said he will give 100% every time he plays and it is something Bilic is demanding of all the players.
He also said we have "crazy ambition" so i assume Bilic is making the right noises.

I must say i am pleased not only of the attitude with the players joining us, but also the lowering of the average age and the injection of pace all over the pitch.

There is no "Senior" ticket for this game . It is £10 for all adults and £1 for kids.

That should be the price of all games.
You hear the old ones say, in the 50's the grounds were full. Yeah but you didn't pay £40 per game back then.
Disgusting the admission prices today when you consider gates only contribute 7% of a clubs income.

Playing a back three who weren't comfortable on the ball and trying to play out of defence is what did us last season.
Had we played a back four we wouldn't have leaked so many goals.
It also helps if you don't take one or both of your strikers off during a game.

Welcome Kennth.
So we have a target man now, one more goal scorer is needed.

I would like to see two more, in this division you can't have enough.

At least three more forwards for me, the same number of defenders and another midfielder.

This has been in the pipeline a couple of days now, other clubs will have been alerted and will maybe match the price.

How long on average does it take to sign a player after a fee has been agreed by both clubs. I think we might sign another one before the window closes.

From reading the comments obviously a player with the skill and potential but needs motivation. We have had a few like that.
Hopefully Zohore realises this may be his last chance to shine or get ito the prem either with or without us, and hopefully Bilic and Dicks can kick ass.

Actually i can see him and HRK forming a partnership like Allen and Nicholls, or Astle and Brown, or even Taylor and Hunt.

Actually i am joking and we need to sign someone to play alongside him.

Am I the only one Googling Kenneth Zohore........  ;D

No lol. 40 career goals, but big, the right age and hopefully Bilic sees something in him. Probably no coincidence we are after a winger as well, so looks like we are going on the attack this season....fingers crossed.

Well we can all forget about tennis again for another year. I wonder how many rackets are sold during the fortnight, to be put away in a cupboard never to be seen again?

I have said all along, Lai, is an asset stripper, and Jenkins and Dowling are his bailiffs. We were bought for the land we own.
Jenkins comments about us being skint after 8 years in the Prem were just an excuse to start the dissection.
If we had been really serious about going up last season we wouldn't have appointed a rookie manager, and we would have certainly had someone lined up when we sacked him, not let the season peter out with another Rookie.
We wouldn't have let Gayle go if we had any intentions of going up this season either.

I was excited when we appointed Slaven, but it seems he was just a name to quieten the rumblings amongst the fans.
I can see him walking, and then we will really be up the creek.

The writing is on the wall, and has been since the day when Lai bought everyone a drink and a scarf.

Not a chance in my view. He will have been told score before he took the job. Just hope I’m right........

So what was he told, we have just spent eight consecutive seasons in the Premier League and been taken over by a billionaire but we are skint.
If i was Bilic i would ask, so why are we trying to get back there?

Seems that Bilic may put his faith in Oli Burke?

I say this based on our social media at the moment, it seems to be featuring Burke a lot. It could be really good management if Bilic was able to unlock his potential.

Oli Burke reminds me of Steve Kindon of Dingles, only with more ability, wasted on the wing as he doesn't look up enough, but could be useful down the middle provided we get a decent striker alongside him, and i don't mean HRK.

Look we all love big Dave as a person he is a gentle giant and gives his time for everyone but the fact is he shouldn't of been handed the job. That winning run towards the end of the premier League season was the worst thing that could of happened as it gave the board a easy decision to make. We should of gone for someone such as Dean Smith who has worked wonders with shoe string budgets. Sacking Darren was the right decision it was failing to replace him with a strong experienced replacement which was the mistake.

A much more reasoned and balanced assessment than my manic rants.

Just to play devils advocate;

What do you think would have happened if we had not have appointed Darren after his six games in the premiership? One scenario would have been that we gave it to a 'name' and, despite his best efforts we did not get promoted, everyone on this forum now would be saying 'should have given it to Darren, I blame the board'.......

Sometimes you just cannot win, and hindsight is a wonderful thing. It was a popular decision at the time.....

It's all conjecture isn't it, we will never really know. But i think we would have done much better with the players at our disposal had we appointed the like of Dean Smith. I think you wanted Smith as well if i remember rightly.
Darren was a popular choice to some purely because of his Albion history and because he is such a nice guy.
I never wanted him and when it was announced we had appointed him i posted "I feel sick," on here and it was removed.
I could see a club icons name being remembered for all the wrong reasons. I think he was used by both the club and the players to suit their own needs. Don't forget the players nominated him, and then scarmbled for the door, notably Jonny Evans, Foster ( another toe rag) and Rondon. Three players who would have helped us get up had they put their backing behind Darren. These players saddled the club with someone who was way way out of his depth. People say he was learning, but if we were ever serious about last season being imperative to go straight back up, then appointing a learner makes no sense at all. Even less sense when they appoint someone with more experience than himself, and then sack both of them with no replacement.

I think i have been unkind to Darren with my previous comments but it's just pure frustration at the people who run our club.
