Rafael Benitez leaves Chinese side Dalian Professional by mutual consent

Surely he will attract interest from Premier League clubs

Odds on a return to Newcastle I’d say.

Physicality, pace, presence and an element of surprise. No inside info'. Just not to be used on the left of a pairing from what I read when we signed him.

Take a look at the video of last under 23 match v Stoke. Gave away 2 soft pens and could be argued he was at fault for the other two as well. Not fare maybe just seeing highlights but he didnt look up to it for me.

Started with a nightmare and ended up a catastrophe.

Sold club for 200m get it back for between 150-175m sit on 25m to 50m profit stabilise club see us sit in top league for a while wait for next bumper tv deal and see if he can get 250-300m and on the way to that pay himself a good wage.

In a global recession or on verge of. Speculate to accumulate and all that. Never say never

The news that the Chancellor is considering doubling the CGT rates will make any investor likely to wait for a while!

On gates of 20,000 and an apparently socially deprived area that £140m is remarkable if true and a great advert for their marketing team as cannot recall a big player sale from them since that Everton defender whose name escapes me.

I think I also read that they operated on a ridiculously low wages bill of around £55m.

They've certainly come a long way from Kilby sagging us for having the unfair advatage of parachute payments and being sponsored by dave fishwick.

That £40m in the bank is a jp tactic they have clearly seen and used to attract a buyer using the mantra "see what could be yours".

Finishing 10th helped, they received £30+ more than Norwich, who got £95m from TV.

With an offer of £200m reportedly having been made for Burnley, I'm struggling to see what makes them more attractive at that price than us at £175m?

A quick look at last year's accounts of Burnley showed a turnover of nearly £140m, quite a bit more than I think we ever achieved, plus having £40 million in the bank at the end of last season.  Even if we survive this season I don't see our club being worth anything close to what Lai wants, especially if supporters are not allowed back.

General Football & Sports / Re: Slaven Bilic
« on: October 29, 2020, 05:44:51 AM »
Darren Moore and Jimmy Shan, two coaches with no first team managerial experience whatsoever, got us placed in 4th position and into the playoffs only the season before.

Let that boggle your mind. Two blokes with no managerial experience placing us 4th on their managerial debuts.

Then we have Slaven Bilić, who has managerial experience at international level and also European level including the Premier League. Who, might I add, we’ve played consistently poor under all of this year.
Pure conjecture on my part but if Bilic had Gayle and/or Rod last season we would have won that league comfortably.

We do have advantage that were are more or less debt free, and The club owns the Ground and the adjoining academy area I believe. That plus the value of the playing staff must put the value over £100 million and a bit more hopefully. If we are still Premier league this time next year
and life has returned to some sort of normally the value could rise to an amount when Lai may just consider jumping ship, we can but hope. Life springs eternal!

When their 2 main goalies cost twice as much as the team that we will put out, it put things into perspective. Reckon we could run them close but can only be one winner sadly.

More accurately, he was the buyer Peace had been hoping for. As I see it, Lai’s only way out, is to cut his losses.
Problem is that would result in him losing face which is equivalent to humiliation in China.
Sadly I think we are stuck with him for the foreseeable future.

Championship sides won't spend that amount of money the majority of them are more worried about being in business this time next year. Some players are going to go for dirt cheap towards the end of this window as clubs will panic and push to sell players in order to raise cash to fill the accounts with just to cover the running costs of the club

A quick look at Huddersfield latest june 2019 accounts show them with a net debt of nearly 70 million, and the majority of this debt is relatively short term loans. They will be desperate for the fund's from the sale of Grant so the longer we play the waiting game the better

« on: September 08, 2020, 04:02:30 PM »
It could be a great solution. What if, and it’s a big if, Wilder gets a tune out if Burke? Then we either get a better player back or we get a chance to sell for a bigger fee. Admittedly if he is still rubbish then we are stuck with him but at least we’ll have earned another loan fee (I assume).

He will only have 12 months left then, no point in another loan after that. We might end up paying him to cancel his contract early!

Sky saying the Burke deal is a loan but Robbo is a perm, that can’t be right surely?

Seems correct ,looks like we have been shafted!

Must be a 99% chance he will be back with us at the end of the season.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Oliver Burke
« on: September 08, 2020, 01:45:50 PM »
Yeah says Robinson coming here on perm and Burke there on a loan

That will put a big dent in the transfer kitty then if we have to pay for Robinson. Not keen on this deal now !

Sky sports have just stated Burke to Sheff Utd is a loan deal- hope and pray that's wrong 🤦🏻‍♂️

Sad to hear of his passing. Another great player for Albion, plus Jeff Astle and chippy clarke, all died probably not being able to remember they played for our beloved club with such distinction.
Thinking about that can reduce this silly old git to tears.

The new Premier League season has been confirmed to be starting on 8th August. Doesn't give promoted teams much time to prepare.

Ive seem newspaper article saying they have agreed 12 September start.  Seems far
more reasonable.

Nowhere in that article he mention it was was him and agent ???

Like I said it could of been palace ?

I think the sentence where Bilic says he only wanted to talk about playing wanting to play for the club is evidence enough!

News from the Athletic the fee is being renegotiated. Palace very much in the driving seat here, from Albions point anything is better than nothing I guess. Have we been stitched up?

He could almost have been leaning on his left goalpost. Go on stick in the other corner I dare you Tomlin - ok then thanks!

Yeah. I like the look of him. Wouldn't be averse to seeing him partner Hegazi against West Ham.

Wouldn’t be adverse to consider that partnership 6 days earlier than that!

We’ve conceded over 30 goals this season, anyone know how many have been headers, more than 50% I would think,Slav needs to sort it out or will cost us big time.
