Looking at the player contracts topic on this forum, there are 7 senior players whose contracts expire in June 2024.

Depending on the fee we get for DoS, it should go a long way towards paying their wages & a significant chunk of the interest on the MSD loan.

Gutted

I'm gutted too but it was inevitable.

I should like to put into words how I feel towards our current owners but I fear I'd get a lifetime ban.

I always like to see who fbref reckons is similar to our players, and given Harwood-Bellis is on Dara's scouting report above, it's no surprise he's gone to Burnley. You'd think Kompany has a good eye for centre backs.

Anything less than 10m given fees nowadays would be very silly. Stoke got 15m rising to 20m for Harry Souttar who'd just been out injured for a year (granted he had a decent world cup also).

Considering our usual negotiating skills it will probably be a underwhelming fee, our desperation to sell players doesn't exactly lead us to a storng negotiating position. Shame to see him go, but certainly centre back is a position you can usually get decent players at low value with good scouting (which will be the issue), at least there's plenty of examples around. Plus Caleb Taylor by all accounts had a very successful season last year so is hopefully ready to step up.

Yep should be matching the Souttar fee at the very least and Ian Pearce absolutely should be using that as a benchmark.

Interesting to see what fee our footballing gods get for him.

Someone itk on twitter is saying £6-8m which would be ludicrous at 24 with 2 yrs left on his contract.

Meanwhile Leicester paid £15m rising to £20m for Souttar from Stoke and Wolves £20m for Nathan Collins who's garbage and who they have just turned down an offer of £21m from Brentford.

I really don't get it but let's wait and see though we all know it will be 'undisclosed'.

Just hope Carlos gets some of the proceeds and has a striker lined up............ however Pearce made it clear we are in the market for Bosmans, Loans and BTAs so probably not!  With Dara going we could do with some good news.

6-8 m would be comical if it wasn’t another nail in our club and us on the end of losing one of our few quality players left.
Some dire seasons ahead as things stand under this wretched regime.

If it is 6-8m we might as well give up now with these fools in charge.

I still think £10m is about the strike point on this deal given our circumstances, if Burnley offer the fee upfront then £8m makes sense.

What if he had a release clause when he agreed to sign his new contract last year?

If the fee is £8m with add-ons I think that is reasonable. Anything less I will be disappointed.

Good player, but lot to do to prove he can play in the top flight.

I agree he has something to prove, but let's remember he played 2000+ minutes for us in the Premier League aged just 21, and I certainly don't remember him being any worse than a number of players several years older than him.

One of the few players who is good at this level and COULD potentially make the step up. The worry is he is our only cb who doesn't have an error in his game. The others are all of smililar questionable quality and very inconsistent.

Hopefully we haven't let our desperation get the better of the negotiation. Stoke got 14m for souttar...

Souttar had a ridiculous World Cup and was dominant from the get-go when he came back to the champ. As good as DOD has been at times, we aren't getting 15m from anyone.

We also need to sell. Stoke didn't.

That would be a killer blow.
The whole purpose of moving on DoS is to raise funds to pay wages of players we can't move on.

Sounds like the fee is £7m, despite a release clause being £8m.

Only WBA could accept below a release clause!

I don’t know how release clauses work the only thing I can think it the release clause would be paid over 2 or 3 instalments whereas maybe Burnley said they would pay the £7m in full upfront.

Just goes to show the peril of the clubs finances are, he should have gone for £10m plus.

A how should we have gone about that given he's got an £8M release clause (which we appear to have waived)?
