Whatever the level - show me a full back who hasn't been skinned in a game.
Show me a keeper who hasn't let in a soft goal, or a striker who hasn't been marked out of the game. Everyone who's ever played the game's had a stinker or two!

I have been watching football for 40 years and he is not good enough. A championship defender with a championship midfield ( todays team selection)

He's still young and learning at this level. He was nowhere near the worst player today.

Positional play says everything about him - central defender not a full back, surely the coach can see this and should play him where he  uses his skills and attributes and is comfortable and confident in his game.

Thoughts on Andre Wisdom?
« Reply #139 on: August 30, 2014, 07:36:09 PM »
I have seen Wisdom every game he has played for us from the Porto game and in my opinion he isn't good enough for the premier league especially not at full back. I hope that after this international break Gamboa will be fit and ready to start as I am genuinely excited and optimistic he can go on to be a very valuable and exciting player for us. Wisdom seems to slow and error prone in my opinion. I know he had a good season on loan at Derby last season but the gulf between championship and premiership is massive and it's only getting bigger. What are your thoughts on Wisdom?

Firstly I haven't seen him play I was under the impression he was a quick player.
Considering the start we have made I would be inclined to give a new young player the benefit of the doubt but like you I can't wait for Gamboa to settle in the team.

I would rather give Gamboa the benefit of the doubt anyway because he is OUR player who will be here at the end of the season rather then blood a player for Liverpool who in my opinion isn't up to it.

Too fat for a right back, let alone a premier league CB. Shocking positionally and far too slow, at fault for the goal at Sunderland.

Sits way too far inside, practically under Dawsons feet for the last 3 games. Not impressed in the slightest, quicker Gamboa is fit the better.

Shocking again today, after this season I can see him being shipped off by Lpool to a champ team, not good enough.

Do you think he is under instruction on his positioning or feel it is the player himself?

Obviously he's only had a couple of games but doesn't look like PL quality to me and that is what we need right now. We need to hope Gamboa is a good one else we are going to have the same full back issues as last year.

Worrying thing is with a negative head coach you might as well get used to him because Gamboa is very poor defensively so far.

To be fair its harsh to judge Gamboa on fifteen minutes in a game where we were already getting the run around.

Not judging him yet but Montero who I imagine hasn't had much football either gave him the runaround big time.

Wisdom is a centre back and it's obvious to see this with his game play both going forward and when defending. I'm hoping Gamboa can show us what were missing there.
O Albion we love you
