Had a season ticket through all of that..... gave up for a few years when Little arrived, mainly due to my ever increasing young family. Dark times indeed but strangely good fun....going to all of those away games in strange places. The uncertainty of what was going to happen next, who we were going to buy [thanks to Bobby Gould for Bob Taylor!] I enjoyed Taylor/Hunt and Sneekes, with the supporting cast of Donovan, Ampadu Hamilton etc far more than this shower.......

I could cry now after watching Saturday........all of them millionaires who, with the odd exception, couldn't really give a toss.......
Beggars belief doesn't it?
The thought of Bob Taylor working on a building site while this mob turn up in Bentley's, to give a total of no fecks, is infuriating.
No wonder working class blokes like us are becoming disillusioned with the game, especially the Premier League.

Very true, but there isn't one of this bunch that you would be telling your grandkids about in years to come like you would about SB with the same affection.
Granted it doesn't pay his bills but you can't by respect and that bloke has that in sackfulls.

I know it is only a brief summary line but never has a commentator been so totally wrong in four sentences on the subject of football.

BBC commentator Jonathan Pearce: "The club is in disarray. Tony Pulis should not have been sacked. The board should have invested heavily last summer. I hope Alan Pardew can bring them back up straight away but that'll be a massive task.

1. Pulis should not have been sacked, results and the poisonous atmosphere that his football was creating were plenty of reason for him or any other coach to be sacked. The mistake was appointing Pardew.

2. We outspent most of the teams around us we have a capped wage bill there were near universal applause for our summer business and the again for the signing of Sturridge. We might have spent foolishly but we did spend.

3. Pardew bringing us up back up. There is speculation that he might not make the end of next week let alone into next season.

It is this lack of analysis and tired old platitude that keeps the old guard like Pulis and Pardew in jobs.

They're all part of this football clique, no one wants to upset anybody just in case they can get them another job somewhere and get paid for failure.

No one should ever listen to Jonathan Pearce when it comes to giving an opinion on football. He should have stuck to Robot Wars

Very easy to say when its not your club. Don't you just love these 'instant experts' who make a living peddling this sort of rubbish.

Should have gone once he had done what he was hired to do, but thats one for the 'Hindsight ' thread at the end of the season.

It is ironic that this is the first season in many years when none of the pundits tipped us to go down. Shows how much they know.

Tough season. Started by Pulis, finished off by Pardew.

I knew Pulis would be bad for our club and thats how it turned out. Tore up the foundations that had stood us fairly well. Now we are in ruins. We need to make some good appointments now - right from board level and down through to coaching staff. Lets be forward thinking and progressive.

Agreed, in my opinion there is one man who stands out and should be approached with immediate effect.

I don't think Pulis was entirely bad for us, he came in and did what was needed at the time, the problem was he was here too long and replaced by the cheap option which has left us needing a Pulis type again.

The club has stagnated for too long, others have caught us up and overtaken us.

The fact we still get linked with the same players we were linked with under Pulis makes you wonder who actually signs/ recommends all these players, recruitment team needs a massive shake up as well.

Please not another Pulis type, if that’s what transpires them I’m done.

I don't want a Pulis type but we need another shakeup from top to bottom.

Shakes yes, however we need a young progressive manager with new ideas.

He (Lai) is only interested in protecting his investment. No shake up is coming. Just the most pragmatic way of either staying up or coming back up asap.

Whilst I wouldn’t disagree, in my opinion the fans need to see fresh ideas.

The likes of a Pulis, Redknapp, Big Sam and Pardew need to retire.
