So that makes it a clean sweep of coaches apart from Jonathon Gould. That's not a bad thing in my view, as it means new ideas and methods. It also means that AP's able to surround himself with people of his choosing, which should increase the chances of his tenure being successful.

It'll be interesting to see who else he brings in. Big Dave might get a promotion too.

Francis says he has left because of "moral obligations". What the hell does he mean?

I wonder how much it has cost the club to pay off TP, Megson and all the coaches who have left? Will it limit what we can do in Jan?

Delighted by the way that they have gone.

It means he is the bitch of Pulis and must follow him round from job to job and can't make his own choices.

Pardew said something about loyalty and one of the coaches (can't recall name at the moment) wanted the weekend to think over pardews offer. Pards said he wanted him to stay, but you never know if that's just the "professional/media" opinion.

That's Gerry Francis. AP did make him an offer to stay, he said so in one of the interviews last week. See also the Sky Sports article linked to above. Francis seems to prefer to follow Pulis around from job to job, which is his choice of course, but I'd rather we have coaches who are properly committed to Albion. You could say that Carver follows AP around to a certain extent, but at least he's his second in command, whereas Francis just works part-time.

Farewell Mr Mullet....

“It is with regret that I feel I cannot accept Alan Pardew’s and West Brom’s offer to stay on at the club due to moral obligations on my part,” Francis told Sky Sports News.

“It has nothing to do with Alan or the club where I have spent three enjoyable years. I wish Alan and the club owners, chairman, directors, players and supporters every success in the future."

Francis has quit out of loyalty to Pulis. It's a pity if as reported that Pardew wanted him to stay we can never be certain exactly what the various assistants do and therefore never be sure exactly what we lose when one moves on.

Thanks to the clubs sheer stupidity, it will have cost a lot more to remove Pulis than it should have done. 18 month contract over a 6 month contract. Imbeciles

I can only agree with that.
This is without hindsight too.
Surely the end of the last season, told us and the board this.

It's a results driven business & 20/20 hindsight is a wonderful asset.

Pulis was sacked because of his results.
If it was easy, it wouldn't be Albion

Pulis was sacked because of his results.

Hardly hindsight when we had barely won a game fro  February onwards. Two 1-0 wins against Bournmouth and Burnley were hardly reason to think all was rosy again. Offering him an extension at that time was lunacy.

Interesting article about Garner appeared in the Times via my Twitter feed.

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/the-secrets-and-strengths-of-how-top-teams-play-5jcwnpj3f?shareToken=9541c6bb1907a413ed50ea23ff9602b8

Thanks for that VVV.

Regards the tactics discussed I don't think the article itself brings anything fresh per say.

However, it articulates what we actually see on the pitch very well.

Interesting point at the end re Garner's relationship with the players and being ready for management.

Reportedly bright and innovative coach who has worked with Pards before but was not invited to stay.

Reading between the lines (and with NO insider knowledge whatsoever) I get the impression GM thought Garner may have undermined TP in some way.

Wonder whether Pards was thinking along similar lines........

It could also be possible he, TP, was threatening to take his ball home if he wasn't offered a longer contract?

Maybe not, but he was not infallible as his own cock-ups included giving contracts to Irvine and Mel.
