I think that Bale is a more dominant player than any in the list you mention. I honestly think he could play any position on the pitch including centre back. In addition to his ability, his engine and athleticism put him clear of any of the others. With more teams going through this time, we certainly have a chance if Bale stays fit.

Point remains there is only one of him. And he's no John Charles  ;D

John Charles was before my time I'm pleased to say, though he must have been some player.
I was just disagreeing with your 'no chance' as there is some chance though I wouldn't put much money on it.

As has been said Bale and Ramsey would start for England. I happen to think Ashley Williams would be in the England reckoning (though as Monk pointed out, Roy has never been to Swansea)....there's even premier league players on the bench  :-X

Wales drew with Bosnia last night.

Scotland and Northern Ireland both in action today against Georgia and the Faroe Islands respectively.

Both of them need to win if they have serious hopes of qualifying.

Gareth McAuley on the scoresheet for Northern Ireland. Set up by a certain Chris Baird.

British double in the end.

Scotland beat Georgia 1-0 - Morrison completed 90 minutes. Dorrans was an unused substitute.

Northern Ireland beat the Faroe Islands 2-0 - it should have been more - Brunt missed out through injury, Chris Baird completed 90 minutes but Gareth McAuley came off just before the hour mark. He had picked up an injury in the first half but hopefully it isn't serious and they were saving him for Tuesday against Greece.

Northern Ireland believe it or not currently top their group.

When is the last time all home nations and Ireland went a round of games unbeaten? Haven't a clue but I'm sure it doesn't happen very often

Now that the likes of Gibraltar qualify as a team, the Home Nation teams were always going to be given an easier ride.

Settling down ready for the match i havent seen much of Estonia but we should have more than enough to deal with what they have to offer, I reckon 3-1 England wasnt very impressed against san marino but i think will turn it up tonight.

Gibraltar are basically the new San Marino. Got stuffed 7-0 by the ROI which shows you how poor a team they are. As i said before in a previous post a lot of players goal scoring records will go because of playing against such poor opposition. Surely it would be better to put these teams in their own competition so at least they have a chance.

Gibraltar seemed to do ok first few games, managed to draw with Slovenia and Estonia and beat Malta which is a lot better than San Marino, Andorra etc. The last two games though against Poland and ROI they were terrible losing 7-0 both times.

With only 2 full professionals though they will definitely be getting my batterings.

If Baines and Chambers are the best two full backs we have for England then I reckon we have got a better two with Wisdom and Pogs ( and Gamboa for that matter) . Chambers has been pants with lots of misplaced passes that have either a) put us in  possible trouble or b) broken up a good potential attacking position for us.

Poor performance tonight against Estonia.  Thought we passed the ball around nicely at times but with very little penetration.  We just didn't look like opening them up.  There's a lack of footballing intelligence at times I feel.  Some of these so called lesser teams park the bus and need to be pulled out of that shape but getting down the wing especially when they went down to ten men.

For me the game was crying out for Townsend and Sterling out wide 2nd half but instead they put Lallana and Oxlade on the wrong wide.

Dont see the point in playing Delph on the left at all. Also the midfield has no goals in them so you are instantly relying on the strikers and set pieces.

This is by far the worst England side for a long long time, however it is not Roy's fault.

The problem clearly is the high number of extremely average foreign players playing in the PL, and so reducing the number of regular English players to choose from, until something is done it will continue to deteriorate.

A clear example being, having to select Lambert, who is struggling to even get in the Liverpool squad.

No width in the team can't stick up for Roy tonight, Rooney does more harm than good and tactics wise far to negative especially when we took the lead.

Not the best performance yesterday but we got the win against a well organised Estonia side. Can't wait for the Scotland game next month.

Wales beat Cyprus 2-1 and have gone top of their group.

Who would have predicated Northern Ireland and Wales to be topping their group after the first couple of fixtures?

Hard work for Wales with an injury depleted team. Another injury after 2 minutes. Andy King correctly sent off early in the 2nd half. Very important to cling on which they did.

We're not Brazil we're Northern Ireland  :D

Great result for Michael O'Neill's men. Won 2-0 away in Greece. They've won three games on the trot and sit top of the group. Samaras played 60 minutes - he was nothing special.

Scotland got a point away in Poland - James Morrison got an assist for Naismith's goal. Also in that group, John O'Shea scored a late equaliser for the Republic of Ireland in Germany.

I watched Greece v Northern Ireland last night, McAuley and Baird had pretty solid games. Samaras did nothing of note. Northern Ireland look a great bet to go to the Euros 3 wins from 3.

Wales have just drew in Belgium. Great result for them which leaves them top of their group.

Northern Ireland were beaten in Romania - a reality shock but qualification is still possible with plenty of fixtures to come at Windsor Park.

Scotland also beat the Republic of Ireland 1-0.

God knows why they're both playing in their away kits though
