Kanu is still around, has to be in his late 90s now surely?

Any manager that thinks they can turn Burke in to a footballer should not be allowed to manage again, never mind at the Hawthorns.

🤣🤣

Maybe Jake and Romaine are 25% fitter and therefore worthy of reintegrating then??

Well it was a thought anyway  8)

Entirely possible, they were starting from the lowest starting point!

I would call out any manager on this because it is either doping or ********. Assuming that he isn't doping then a 25% hike in fitness levels particularly in competition is just not available regardless of training regime and certainly not at elite level sports over a short period of time.

We might be looking at improvement we might be looking at well rested players but we ain't looking at 25% fitter players.

It's entirely possible to achieve 25% increase in fitness in 8 weeks, it depends on what you're measuring and what the base line was.

I took this from Wikipedia - not verbatim. Izumi Tabata developed Tabata training where Olympic athletes trained for 8 minutes four times per week and increased their VO2 Max from 48 to 55 mL/kg•min. That's around a 15% increase in 6 weeks of 32 minutes of training/week. Bear in mind it's not a linear scale eitherarginal increases in laboratory defined values will translate to completely different gains on the track. Then you add in the last time you ate, had a rubbish, how you slept etc.

Whilst maybe not everyone increased their fitness by 25%, you're going to focusing on the headline numbers to give anyone listening an understanding of how far you've come.

Franz Carr - I remember watching him nutmeg someone on the touch line against MU I think - Edit, not Man U, I haven't got a clue who it was!

Cracking going forward, but no end product.

Adrian Chiles did something a few years ago, spending a lot of time with the club when Megson was the manager and Peace was in charge - remember Megson being particularly miffed after a meeting with Peace about transfer funds (iirc)

That first goal was no more than three feet to his left.  An extended arm is three feet long (hence the term yardarm) but his hands were just about as near to the ball as his shoulders. He was all at sea (to continue the nautical reference).

You may want to get a tape measure out and a book on Nautical etymology, the Yard is spur or cross beam on a mast, the Yardarm, is the tip/end of the spur.

I remember seeing a website years ago called HTFR-World, it has cartoon match reports which were brilliant. There's an archive on there going back nearly 20 years! I can't link specific games but there's one from Nov 2000 when we beat them 2-0 which is brilliant - a proper blast from the past.

Ryanair logs how many times you go on their site. That's why they are so expensive.

Whilst they do get more expensive it's not really based on how many times you visit the booking site, flight proces go up as you get closer to the flight time and when more seats begin to sell.

If you're worried about this you can just delete your cookie cache and the website will think it's the first time you've visited the site.

Just said the same to my brother. Then 12 months times we would be in the same position.

It's sad what happened to him, I said at the time he wasn't the right person for the job - picking up the pieces after Pardew/Pulis, giving the guys a bounce is going to be much easier as there's zero pressure. When it's your team/players (to a certain extent) it's not going to be anywhere near as easy.

I can see if Shan gets a few more good rsults people will be wanting him to get the job like they did with Moore.

Let's put it this way, if it had been aimed at me, I would have been a bit miffed.

I should imagine you would be, unless you were a genuine look-a-like for the character on the pot noodle advert. Or you were trying to engender yourself to the fans of your new club.

Genuine question, have you ever had a nickname?

That's an awful lot of questions for someone to answer who's only confirmed in a job less than 40hours ago

True, but they're questions that desperately need answering.

He did just that, when he took over.

It's one thing coming in fresh after a pretty much hated man has been in charge. A completely different thing rousing your players after losing 10 consecutive games  then 4-0 to Barnsley on a Tuesday evening.

Would love Darren to get it on a permanent basis but I'm not sure he has the experience to pull the players out of a downward spiral of there's no new manger 'bounce effect' which is clearly making a differemce at the moment.

Haven't been to the Hawthorns for years and bringing some Southampton fans with me this weekend. Can anyone advise where would be the best place to go for food and drinks before the game?

Those posting idiotic remarks should be ashamed, in no way should anyone's mental health be jeopardised for anyone or anything's sake. Mental health is the most precious thing we will ever hold, without it we're nothing but shells.

We still dont know what happened behind the scenes though do we?

I disagree, there have been a few instances where he's done silly things, NO, drink driving conviction etc. have the club ever come out with anything other than support for him?

I know for a fact the club tried to mentor him, but his 'advisors' refused the support. There're too many hangers on with SB, too many people who're looking at him as a cash cow. These people think he should be earning megabucks, something he's not going to earn at WBA unfortunately.

I really do hope the club put out a response which is reserved enough not to have a go back. But worded in a way which makes everyone questions his honesty and integrity.

I think it's plain for all to see that we did support him over the years. Maybe not to the level he thinks he should have been supported but we all know he's not one of life's great minds.

I feel for him, I'd love to fast forward a couple of years see how it pans out for him at Stoke, what lines he will be trotting out then.

This!

I think that the modern saturation of transfers 'news' and hype over Premier League brand has led to a whole generation of people with completely unrealistic fantasies over players, values and expectations.

Doesn't help when you have the media coming out and reporting how much Lai is worth, some supporters think he's going to spend all this wealth on overpriced "marque" players (WBA13  ;D). It's not going to happen, what we spent on Livermore is an indication of how over priced players are.

I can't see anything being different to the way we recruit players in the summer either, yes money will be spent, but it's not going to be multiple record transfers for players, little and often is all it's going to be.
