Hopefully Man U at home first game. They got that long trip to Macedonia on the Tuesday night so wouldn't get back until the Wednesday and then have to travel to us on the Friday.

Hope it's Huddersfield or Newcastle away, but we are unlikely to play the newly promoted sides as they usually play someone in the top 6 for their first fixture.
I expect we'll get someone like  West Ham, Stoke or Southampton..maybe Bournemouth or Swansea..basically a team that finished between 8th and 15th.

Looking forward to Wednesday but we will still have to wait until early July for Sky & BT to decide which games they want.

An interesting point actually. Has anyone ever been affected by booking flights/hotel rooms etc only to have the game moved at short notice for TV purposes?

To give you an example my Estonian friend booked flights from Tallinn for the Liverpool game at the Hawthorns a couple of months ago. He was on a short timetable so had booked a flight back on the following day - Sunday. Guess what, the game got moved to Sunday 4pm so he lost money and had to book a new flight home. Is there a minimum time requirement Sky/BT have to give to avoid this? The fixtures are out shortly and we will all be making tentative plans, only to have them blown apart by TV etc

Has anyone ever claimed money back due to this? Just wondering really........  we seem to just accept it and carry on. It would be nice to see the multi billion pound Sky company compensating fans.

Just seen the story about Saturday night games potentially being introduced with 19:45 kick offs as the TV companies will have an extra 30 games next season..

The Saturday 7.45pm kick offs would be part of the next tv deal negotiations. Not an imminent change.

This has happened to me a few times in the past as the really cheap train tickets are available about 12 weeks in advance. I now tend to wait until about 4 weeks before a match to reduce this. Not flights but trains. I tend to book hotels that have free cancellations up to the day before.
Last season for the Palace away game I took the chance that we wouldn't be shown live as there were much more attractive games on offer for the viewing public.

I've said it before; Sky and BT should decide what games they are going to show on 1st of July for August to December and 1st of December for January to May.
 At the end of the day TV companies don't care how many fans are at the matches as they'd rather we were watching from our homes or down the pub, although the product would look poor if there were no fans in the stadiums.
