Based on today’s performance and his undoubted potential should we have a topic for him to focus on his progress

West Bromwich Albion FC / Players or Manager?
« on: February 09, 2022, 10:12:52 PM »
Well Steve has given the players an opportunity. I know it's early and doesn't know the players strengths and weaknesses, but he better makes a very quick assessment. Val couldn't get anything out of them and Bruce got no new manager bounce. Perhaps the conclusion is that some of the squad just ain't good enough.

I give you for starters: Liverrmore, Furlong, Reach and Ajayi on tonight's performance, just who do we have better in the U23's etc, just who can step up or are we stuck with players without the skill, energy and fight needed to make the top six

West Bromwich Albion FC / Can't Wait for this season to end
« on: April 22, 2016, 01:00:37 PM »
I for one can't wait for the season to end, our football has deteriorated, a paper thin squad in terms of creativity, class and technical ability, the constant comments from commentators on our number of shots per game, long ball etc.etc.

We have become unpopular in the media  a trend started a few years ago by replacing a media loved manager, Odemwingie non transfer, Anelka's quenelle salute,a  petulant striker and lastly the politics of NI.

We've had more than our fair share of bad publicity all topped by Pullisball.

We need a clear out and a fresh start - I await with hope a better transfer window coupled with a more dynamic playing style

West Bromwich Albion FC / Did we make a mistake with Wood?
« on: January 12, 2013, 03:58:44 PM »
He seems to score for fun, still young and learning, should we have given him a better chance or at least got more money for a player we have developed over 4 years

Just looking at the potential sales of Odemwingie, Olsson, Mulumbu, Dorrans we could get £20 million, if this happens will our new manager supported by our scouting team be able to buy players to replace and improve us?

I guess with all teams players will come and go, the Baggies will remain, we could be stronger

West Bromwich Albion FC / Question - Does Roy have a plan B or?
« on: September 17, 2011, 07:09:23 PM »
Is he just too set in his ways and coaching style to adapt to the requirement of the ever improving Premier division?

Is this rigid 4 4 2 the reason why Liverpoo fans disliked him so much?

Is he really going to move us forward as a club?

so far the jury is out but a few more performances like today and will it be "Taxi for Roy? :D

Astle v Everton FA cup final

What are yours?

not based on just todays performance but over 12 -18 months

Outgoing for me:
a) Certainties
Miller
Fortune
Cech
Ibanez

b) Possibles
Tamas
Thomas
Jara
Morrison

So at least 2 strikers, central defender, right back and defensive midfield all of better quality needed

 :(

Start negotiating now - we know we're staying up FFS

West Bromwich Albion FC / Midfield
« on: April 16, 2011, 07:32:31 PM »
As you saw today, when we play class sides they immediately see our weakness in covering from midfield. Neither Brunt or Thomas today fulfilled the midfield role properly and Morrison didn't put in a great shift. When our wide midfield give the ball away and don't cover the fulbacks will always be under pressure. All season whenever our midfield hasn't performed well we have blamed the fullbacks, whether that has been Jara, Cech and lately Shorey and Reid, it is not their fault, ust look at the cover they get. It is no co-incidence.

The CD performed well but Meite is definately suspect under pressure against real quality.   :(

General Football & Sports / European League

The new owner of Arsenal being an American Billionaire along with Liverpool, Villa, Man Utd, 2 owned by Russian oligarchs, 2 owned by middle eastern and far eastern billionaires, it won't be long untill the top 4/6 opt for a European league  to include Barcelona, Real Madrid from La Lega, 2 from the Bundeslega, 2 from Italy etc to give a maximum of 12 teams.

Where will that leave those who don't make it including us.

We need a buyer now :o

West Bromwich Albion FC / thomas appreciation
« on: April 12, 2011, 12:21:30 PM »
Over the last few matches Thomas has been a revelation with the improvement to his defensive capabilities and his willingness to fight for the team. Against Arsenal he ran his socks off and was clearley out on his feet for the last 10 minutes. Liverpool showed him continuously coming back to make tackles in support of the full back and always being available as the point of release upfield. Again against Sunderland his defending in the last few gasps of the game were notable with last ditch clearances from the edge of the box.

He has become a more complete player under Roy and this has helped the defence look more solid. Is it just me or are there now fewer crosses coming in from the wings when we are defending?
