Yeah I think most the crowd didn't know the rule there. I had to explain to the bloke in front

Brilliant win against a very good footballing side.

There were some good positive talking points about our game, but I always seem to dwell on the negatives hoping that Carlos can put things right. But when the subs were made we had the same effect like the Southampton game, it interrupted  our play. Also there was some sloppy play at times with players losing possession too easily.

This is how some games will go, but if you can get the win when your not 100% it can only be positive.

Like others have said about Mowatt, he was brilliant.

One less fixture to go and three more points on the board.

That'll do for me.

Great first half.

We came under pressure in the second half as Coventry pressed further up the field. Even before the subs were made we seemed to be giving the ball away needlessly. Instead of moving the ball around, the midfielders were still trying beat their markers who were swarming round them.  If you're being pressed, there should be more space further up the field but we don't really have anybody up front who can hold the ball up.  Pieters was particularly guilty of giving the ball away  - but at least he was giving it the boot; some of the short passing was often being intercepted.

There's been a lot of talk about the subs but this well organised ten man defence means that the forwards, who cover most ground,  will tire and subs will be necessary.  Talk of leaving changes for ten minutes could be disastrous because when you start to tire,  deterioration is rapid.  The coaches know when their players are tiring.  Of the subs, Reach was calm and effective, Weiman was not, Chalobah was Ok but not Okay.  Bartley steadied the ship.

On corners, we still don't mark or get out to the man just outside the D.

We scored, and then they thought the game was over, as per usual.
We tend to sit back and relax, instead of concentrating thoughout the whole match.
Happy with the points.

A decent performance and we controlled the match for 60 odd minutes.
Thought the subs came too soon after each other and too many players were trying to get up to speed at the same time.
Thought Johnston was very good and would have preferred him to stay on. Fellows was also effective on the other flank.
Mowatt the pick of the midfield and MoM.
Diangana was awful for the first 10 minutes or so but never stopped trying and got better as the game wore on. Took his goal well. Like at Hull he was playing a role that doesn't get the best out of him and he was subject to numerous unpunished fouls.
3 decent points and now onto a couple of potential banana skin away games.

Watched the entire recoded game last night 11pm to 1am as we had a social commitment made before game day was changed.

A very welcomed three points and good first half but annoying we again took our foot off the pedal in second half.

What really annoyed me that apart from his goal, was Grady Diangana who time and time again gave the ball away to an opponent and consistently lost possession when challenged even when there was an easy pass available to one of his teammates.

It’s as though he doesn’t think, visualise or know where his teammates are and causes that loss of possession which, sometimes, is in dangerous areas that results in shots on our goal.

I’ve always liked Grady but he badly needs to up his game and realise he cannot beat ten opponents and that it is a team game.

Tremendous all round performance and vital 3 points. Thought Mowatt and Yokuslu were magnificent in winning the ball and linking the play. Johnston's goal was a beauty and our second after great work from Fellows. On the subs., I'm not going to criticise as you could see the energy levels of certain players starting to drop off. But it requires the subs to knit into the passing patterns and understanding with those around them. Coventry had their chances late on, but they also had them in the first half. Its just that their shooting was off target, though a couple just skimmed past.

I think that the contributor who said that the subs were made too close together might have a point.  Unless CC trains with defined combinations for defined situations so that they are used to playing together when they come on.
