Runners and riders? Anyone have any thoughts as to whom DM might have in mind?

Wayne Jacobs was helping out freelance as a coach so I wouldn't be surprised if hes appointed

Just having a look at the current crop of unemployed managers/coaches, a few names that could be in the running if he really wanted experience:

Mike Phelan
Russel Slade
Lee Clark
Ian Holloway
Ronnie Moore

Not really anything inspiring, I have a feeling he will look to someone with a precious connection to us, as per the route of ‘we not me.’ Someone who ‘gets’ the club and the fans.

Could possibly see him trying to tempt Kevin Phillips perhaps?

I think Jacobs is more of an analyst looks at videos of our previous games and our opponants games and does specific training with regards to that.

Hasnt Shakespeare left Everton?

Think you might be disappointed, not sure KP is a huge fan. If Gary Rowett goes to Stoke, I think KP will go with him

A number of commentators are saying Michael Appleton.

That would make sense on a number of levels, not the least of which would be a ready replacement if the DM project didn't work.

Of WBA, think he's disappointed we didn't offer him an unconditional contract when he went to Birmingham.

Has he actually stated this? Or just superstition?

Ah right, so if Puel gets sacked, with you now.

If that happens, he might get the Leicester Job.

But as far as assistant to Darren Moore is concerned, I don't know if Michael Appleton would accept the job or not, but if we're looking for an ex WBA player, who is respected by Jenkins et al, MA would fit the bill.
He also seems to have been towards the top of the list of candidates for head coach, on that basis, I would say some of the commentators who are suggesting MA have a pretty valid argument.

Well, unless you know, nothing's fact, & I might be completely wrong, but we'll both know in a couple of weeks.

But if you were being promoted as the Head Coach would you accept the Assistannts job?

And appointing MA as assistant head coach in the event DM fails, is not a valid reason for giving him the job in the first instance, as you suggested

Think you're shooting the messenger.

I'm just reporting on comments made by some commentators.

On your last sentence, I do disagree.

The board expect DM to be a success, otherwise they wouldn't have appointed him, but don't be surprised if DM is "steered" towards an assistant with some experience.
If they could get MA to fil that role, they could turn out to be a great double act, but if it goes t*ts up, then MA still ticks most of the boxes for continuity.

If I have shot the messenger, please accept my apology. But it would be helpful if you included a source, if possible.

Your last paragraph referring to appointing an experienced assistant coach does make sense. However, I think Darren is his own man and would be surprised if he allowed himself to be “steered” to an appointment.
