Will be a bit weird seeing Matty Phillips return with a different club!

Also, we should realistically be beating these. They're on a poor run and just lost at home to Portsmouth who are very bad away. Sadly, football is rarely predictable.

Agree with this. Remember, many managers declined us before Mowbray and he was probably our best bet at the time. I don't think he's been brilliant either but as it stands we're roughly in the same position as when Corberan left.

All right I'll re-phrase "eager" and replace it with "expendable".

Yes, 2 games is too few games to judge Wildsmith on, but he has a tough act to follow. We didn't earn a lot from selling Palmer when you weigh that against his worth against the solidity and confidence he gave to the defence. Hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

No one was eager for Palmer to go, nor did anyone really think he was expendable. It was a similar situation to Yokusulu in the summer. One of our better players and approaching the final year of his deal, so we cashed out. Unfortunately, this was needed due to the financial issues inherited by the previous regime.

Many fans expected Griffiths to come in who has a great reputation which is why they perhaps weren't as saddened by Palmer leaving as they would be without him. Whatever way you look at it, it's a loss though for the first 11.

Styles was OK at LB when there was a system and every player knew his part in it and the strengths and weaknesses of his fellow defenders.  Unfortunately the system drilled into the defence by Corberan is falling apart and we need its replacement whatever that may be, PDQ.

Yep, he is clearly not cut out for this particular style compared to under Corberan. In fairness, he wasn't signed as a LB so it's a bit unfair to judge him. We need to be looking at Heggem or Frabotta there, but even with Heggem there's no certainty he will do well there under Mowbray.

Never rated him, if you play him you need a grafter alongside him to cover his lack of mobility
His passing is always safe so you then have zero creativity from your midfield duo
Sub at best now to bring on when we are leading to keep possession and see out a game
I’d rather he go end of the season with swift and diangana

In my opinion he's very similar to Romaine Sawyers. A very tidy footballer at times but sometimes looks very anonymous and doesn't really add much either. Certainly not the worst player at this level but we could do better and I think Molumby and Diakite adds a lot more energy in the middle.

He didn't buckle at Huddersfield and he didn't buckle under us, so not sure what you are basing that on. He got both teams to the play offs and the teams then lost to other teams who had much better players.

I'm not talking about his time at Huddersfield and I'm not talking about the play-offs either.

My point is that with us he would often hover around the play-offs without going further. Case in point, his first season where he went on a great run then fell short at the end. I understand we had an injury crisis. What I'm saying is I still think he'll keep Valencia up but it wouldn't surprise me if it went to the wire and he was in and out of the relegation spots until then, as I think he does best when the pressure is off.

He's worked with crazy owners before and done well  :-X

My one gripe about Corberan was that he always seemed to excel then buckle under pressure. So we'll see how he does after he's safe and whether he can stay safe.

The owners?

Yep. I'll be really happy if he goes before we play them as I think he's a good manager at this level. Could be an ideal time to play them.

Reminds me of a young Chris Brunt with the whip and accuracy from his corners. Get him on free kicks too he is an asset!

No such thing as too many players in the Championship. Due to it being a marathon, it's a good thing (budget permitting).

The offside was for the runner in front of Wildsmith (IMO) not the initial shooter/goalscorer.

Why is it so bad if this guy starts? We don’t know much about him other than he had an excellent season last time around. Whoever starts is a downgrade on Palmer in my view so let’s wait and see.

It's because last time we did this we ended up with Button (who had similar game time numbers when he became our number 1). Not only this but he looked quite poor against Bournemouth in the cup. I understand it wasn't his fault for many of the goals but he still looked fundamentally bad with some of his saves and positioning.

Of course, I hope I am wrong and doubt he will be as bad as Button. However, we only lost out to the playoffs by 3 points that season and I have no doubt we'd have made it if Button was dropped earlier.

Realistically we are going to be looking at somewhere between £12-15m pure profit on Fellows when he moves on in the summer (assuming we don’t go up) which will further help with PSR.

So refreshing to hear Nestor speak it’s clear there’s a long term vision for the club & that they are already working on the summer transfer window & will be prepared for all eventualities.

Not just him but the obvious departures of Swift et al will all help financially too. Things are looking up.

I would be very surprised if Wildsmith doesn't start, as not doing so would probably have him think about his future with us, if not damaging his confidence.

Heaven forbid anything should happen to JG if he goes onto displace Wildsmith, but if something does happen we need a motivated and confident Wildsmith
 as cover.

I think the opposite. Many keepers are signed knowing full well they'll be a backup number 2 and nothing more. Myhill was the same, as was Alan Miller when he was sold. Griffiths is here to start and it has been widely reported. There's a lot of confidence in him. Wildsmith will know the score and at his age I doubt his confidence will be affected by this. It wouldn't surprise me if he was told this was a possibility when he signed in the summer.

I think Grant and Frabotta wanted out. Diangana was probably agent talk.

This guy is so under the radar he doesn't even have a Wikipedia. It says on Birmingham Mail that he has 30 goal contributions in 110 games or so which is very good given his age.

The Bristol Rovers fans loved him and thought he was excellent. He's had 3 seasons in League One now so hopefully he can make the step up.

I have no idea how we're still in the playoffs this season, after the top 4 it's anyones game.

I have faith Patel got good money after how he held out for the full compensation with Corberan. I think the Lai days of giving away our best players for peanuts are over.

Evan Ferguson joined West Ham on loan and James Ward-Prowse has gone back to West Ham from Forest

They should have never loaned out Ward Prowse in the first place. He scored 7 goals last season with 11 assist. Those are crazy numbers by anyones standards.

The only reason he didn't play much at Forest is because they're currently 3rd in the league. It was a terrible call by West Ham at the time.

Remember the best manager the prem ever saw…Mr Ferguson signed Taibi,Djemba Djemba,Anderson …no one gets them all right .

I'm not disputing that. However, I just never got the logic of the Cole signing. I understand the philosophy behind the others I mentioned and some signings just don't work out. However, Cole was never a good signing and even without hindsight it shouldn't have happened.

From the position we were in it was Excellent
Heggem and Tyles have been outstanding
Are we not happy that Johnstone signed, the consequence to that being the already signed Dobbin .
Holgate on loan with prem experience
Not to add the signings like Diakite who clearly can…but haven’t had enough minutes .
At the point Cole signed he was supposed to be the 4th striker of which we usually played one ,from Dike/Maja/Grant .so as someone for a safety net in the event of a certain set of circumstances….payingvand signing someone higher up the chain did not make sense ?

I agree with a lot of your points but whatever way you look at it, the signing of Cole has been a huge failure. Not only this but Dobbin, Racic and Frabotta have all disappointed.

So overall it's been quite a mixed bag. I understand what the owners are trying to do and overall I think we're moving in the right direction. However, I do feel things could have been done better as well.

My only surprise is that people are surprised
Couple of good matches followed by many bad matches and ineffective inconsistency, the repeat.

Yep, this has literally been him for a long time now.
