Difficult because Liverpool are still red hot attacking but not so good (for them) at the back due to injuries. It's a write off game.

Do we do a Fulham and go for it and press and hassle from the start and get at them, i'd say yes but we don't have the fitness or work rate to do that or we do sit back and hope we lose by 1 or 2?

I'd imagine Grosicki will play wide left in this. Their one minor weakness is players getting in behind Trent A-A. That will be our attempted outball imo. Depending on fitness I think we may see Field also, hopefully with more encouragement than Pardiola gave him at Man City.

Was going to say the same thing. Get in behind the full backs who tend to push on; obviously we don't need to worry about keeping it away from Van Dijk.

First time I've gone into a game thinking double-figures is a genuine possibility.

1-1
The manager will be drilling, and drilling and drilling..
He will go full on pace and power

                   Johnstone
O’Shea.  Ivanovic    Bartley.    Gibbs
                    Semi
Phillips.  Krov.    Gallagher.  Robinson
                    HRK
If youre going to get told off, get told off for doing something not for doing nothing..

Can’t believe that Ivan The Terrible is being suggested for a recall. I have rarely seen a player who is less ‘finished’. You can see it in his face - he knows the game is up. Been a fantastic player but at 36 I think he’d struggle even playing a few divisions lower. Liverpool would destroy him.

Think most expect Furlong to be dropped after the goal yesterday, which means OShea plays right back. Ivanovic is the obvious replacement. I'd certainly rather his know how than that front 3 running at Kyle Bartley.

Agree that Furlong is not the answer at full back but Ivanovic is so far off the pace. Highlights our problems. Our defence is so weak when you look at the individuals we have to choose from. Our attacking players were normally able to compensate in the Championship but aren’t getting a look in at this level. Unless we defend with our midfield setting up on the edge of our own penalty area we are finished. Give an early goal away like we did against Villa and normally it’s game over.

If only we had an international centre half still in his physical prime, with premier league experience to call upon...

Ivanovic could flourish under Allardyce.

I'd go

Johnstone
O'Shea
Ivanovic
Ajayi
Gibbs

Gallagher
Field

Diangana
Pereira
Grosicki

Robinson.

Bench pretty much names itself these days! I wouldn't have Peltier on it.

I don't think that will happen Dave, I know Van Dijk is still out but they have plenty of other good defenders to call upon.

I like your optimism though......

We need the Diangana and Pereira to turn up that started against Everton earlier in the season.

They may get a bit more space than usual so, If they get a goal apiece, who knows?
15-2 sounds much better than 15-0

This looks pretty hopeless at the moment.  Anything less than five would have to be counted as an acceptable result. We have problems in all areas.  We cannot score and our defence leaks goals.  Oh and we are a bit poor in midfield as well. Ah and I think the Manager does not have a clue how to solve any of these issues.

What's the point in Pereira turning up?  The ball's going to be booted over his head.

I hope you're wrong about that. Otherwise Pereira may as well not be picked.

Sam may as well treat this as a training game in defence v attack, leave one up and hoof it now and then.
