Our defence needs someone in goal telling them what to do. Perhaps Button will get a chance sooner rather than later.

A premier league defender who needs someone telling him what to do!
It is not the taking part, but the winning that counts.

They are only league one type of defenders at the moment.

A change in keeper won’t make any difference whatsoever to this team. The vast majority simply aren’t good enough to play in the premier league.
agree, this is going to be a long season with our to best players in decades being poached   after relagation.

Most goals conceded in a premier league season - 89 (38 games averaged 2.38 per games).

We are 8 for 2 and counting. Chelsea up next.

Said it last week, that’s something we will challenge this season if something big doesn’t change.

We have been poor all of 2020. This is no surprise.

I’ve been saying this for ages. Something needs changing because I’m sick of these **** performances.

Our hopes rest on the Brighton reserve goalie and a 36 year old centre half...:( I agree they should both come in but it shows where we are at squad wise. Also look at the bench.

Certainly a serious wake up.

The club will need to look at the loan market seriously. The entire defence is shot

Remember when we had Pulis and some of you (you know who you are) said, "I don't care if we get relegated so long as we are entertained"?

Well, are you not entertained!

I don't think Sawyers was too bad today. One particularly nice pass in the second half to set up the Robinson chance which he passed.

The defence clearly at fault today

He was shocking. At fault for their second -  not to mention passing the them twice in our own box

Pulis was like a tumour, I never wasn't the club to return to that sort of pooh. Good riddance to him and note he's been out of work for a while, chairman have wised up to him.

Hegazi gets his head on everything and puts his body on the line. He HAS to be in for Bartley as well as Ivanovic for Gibbs i guess (probably Furlong long term) and Gallagher in too.

It's not all doom and gloom guys. This game went because we've got ten men on the pitch and we haven't dealt with crosses.

Sawyers has done one thing wrong from what i've seen and it resulted in a shot. Some people can't wait to criticise him.

They are a championship team in terms of ability, I said it before the season even started.

The club are simply going to pocket the funds this season and cross their fingers we somehow survive.

Comical.

If we had pulis in our dugout today it would be 7-0.

Was just thinking about this. Pulis must be laughing his head off right now.

I think that’s exactly the strategy. The survival bit of it won’t work.

Can't. We've used one and we don't look too far from home.

Sending off has changed this game. Stupid mistakes and silly errors. Bartley in the first game and Gibbs here. When will we learn. We didn’t look too bad I thought in first half

Criticism of individual players is somewhat pointless in my opinion when the collective must rank as one of the worst group of players to represent a premier league team ever.
It is not the taking part, but the winning that counts.

All down to Gibbs stupidity this, unfortunately O’Shea seems out of his depth in the prem, the less said about Bartley the better he was shocking in the championship. Got to hope Hegazi / Ivanovic can steady it but still worry about the full back positions. Townsend is going to get destroyed at this level also.

I was one of them and I would much rather be watching this now than anything that he served up. What happened under Pulis and the damage he did can’t be turned round over night. Let’s not forget he was taking us down the season he left.

Don't agree with the sentiment of the post you quoted but if you think we'd defend crosses as badly as this with TP in charge you just don't understand the game.

I suspect Mark Jenkins knew what this was going to be like this season. Getting promotion was as good as it was going to get, and he could justifiably say “job done.”
