A relative minority of 66 million people yes.

My guess is, and I'm far from an expert, Covid 19 will eventually end up like the flu is now. It will claim victims year on year but at relatively much lower levels than it currently is.

The scientists have said that when they announced release of vaccine. It's here to stay like the flu but will maintain deaths down to 10's of thousands a year like the Flu.

Jacko excuse my ignorance but why may others not be able to have the vaccine as a result of people who CAN have it choosing not to have it?

There is no causality. My contention is people who choose not to have it put people who are unable to have it (or it doesn't work for their biology) at risk as well as others who like them refuse to have it.

Oh i agree mate. I do feel for people who may suffer as a result of the actions of the refusers but theres always going to be small percentages of the population that can't be reasoned with. Some old people just want to die anyway when they get to 80+

Re people turning down the vaccine in Brum'. It's worth pointing out that many of the vulnerable are older adults. Not all will feel confident using public transport to get to Millennium Point for the jab at this time. Many will be dependent on relatives who are of working age for transport (and are at work), and not everyone can afford a round trip via taxi. I'd imagine a lot would be only too happy to be vaccinated once jabs are more readily available at their local GP practice etc.
It doesn't matter how many resources you have.
If you don't know how to use them, they will never be enough.

I can understand that Dan but you would expect those cases to be spread out across Birmingham on the whole.

Doubtful that they will say which areas are rejecting the vaccines.

There are a few "microcosms" of society that I've read about or I'm aware of and it seems to me that 40-50% are refusing or can't have it.

This is totally anecdotal and not scientific at all.

It is there choice, yes, but if they wont have it will still lead to restrictions to ALL of us. If you were to say no foreign travel unless you have the vaccine, I bet it would it would be a lot less than 50% refusing to have the vaccine.

I agree with you Kev, but, greedy airlines will never put in place such measures.

Would be interesting to know the ethnicity of those refusing the vaccine rumors flying around that alcohol and animal products are in the vaccine.

Probably, just probably, the same ethnicity that are filling ICU.

Airlines might not but the countries of destination may do plus if you need holiday insurance, they may insist on it. I hope they do.

Once the vaccines are given out to those who want them crack on. Anyone who chooses not to have it has made their choice.
We are all still at risk from covid after vaccination, it could be a significant number who won't have it, in theory any illegal in the UK won't get contacted for the jab.

The vaccine and CoVID denial gangs are quite an eclectic bunch. There will be British Asians who have got hang ups due to false rumours circulating in the community, but the anti vax crowd come from all over. Q-Anon conspiracists, far right nutters like Farage and David Icke fanboys all seem a bit obsessed with disproving  CoVID or the efforts to contain it. No evidence it’s just 1 race.

No one in the trials got seriously ill after vaccination, it seems it gives a very high level of protection.

An example of good protection. I work in health and social care, there has been a breakout at one particular home the half a dozen staff who tested positive all refused the vaccine, those who have tested negative received the vaccine early w/c 4th Jan.

We won’t need to if over 50% of the population get vaccinated. Sterilising immunity will kick in.

Can anyone explain why about 5000 people have had 2nd doses already? I thought it had been decided to have 12 weeks between the doses.
