PSG 0 - Barca - 1

Strange and sad to think that David Beckham is, in a sense, currently carrying the entire achievement of English football on his shoulders. Can we do no better than this?

I wouldn't agree. Yes he's English but he hasn't played in the English game for many years. When Chelsea won it last year did David Luiz represent the Brazilian game? I don't think one player winning something for a foreign club can count as an achievement for English football as a whole.

Fanatstic by Dortmund.

They have been my outside bets since the early group stages by I thought they'd blown it tonight !

And they were so offside in the end! Looked like a rugby game, that final push. But it was good football. I like it when the officials take more of a hands-off approach. Totally neutral on this, but I felt bad for poor Malaga. So close!

Bayern vs Barcelona tonight. Looking forward to this.

Expecting Bayern to expose Barcelona defensively and win the game 3-1.

I'm glad Bayern is scoring for fun. It's keeps the noisy Barca fans across from me nice and quiet!

Outstanding performance by Bayern last night.  What a team.

Never seen Robben play so well in terms of teamwork and overall play.  Ribery and Muller are top notch too but for me the man who makes them tick is Schweinsteiger.

That has to be one of the best team performances that I have seen this season, Bayern were excellent in every department last night. I fully expect them to make the final now, as I see them scoring at the Nou Camp.

Barcelona are on the decline and I predicted this months ago. They have no strength to their spine, their defence is poor and they have no physical pressence. Messi carries them, take him out of the equation and they wouldn't be in the top three teams in Spain.

Bayern Munich are the best football team in the world, bar none.

I never thought I would ever watch a Barca game where Messi, Xavi and Inestia would have so little impact on the game.

Messi looked totally unfit and not with out but, even saying that, Bayern were outstanding and look favourites to win the thing.

However, I have fancied Dortmund since the start so hope they smash Real and make Wembley a colourful Final with their fanatical fans - I think both German sides could fill the stadium with just their home fans !

What a week/ advert/ showcase for German football with these two results.

Sure the debate for reform in the English game will continue;

- Affordable tickets often for £15 or less (even available at German post offices)
- Season tickets for £180
- Fan owned
- Safe standing

Time to adopt these?
