We found away to win and that’s all that matters in this division
My posts are my personal views and any links or external inclusions are not necessarily an endorsement by me.
I'm an ordinary bloke with no hidden agenda, here just to enjoy all things Albion etc.

It's all about opinions, so don't shoot the messenger if he/she has a different view to you!

As the commentator said at the end: "Not very convincing".  A win though.  Good night all.

My key takeaways, watching it on Sky:

- Defensively I thought we were superb, dealt with some tricky long throws and gave Birmingham crumbs to work off. Credit to Sam Johnstone, I was happy with him commanding his box and collecting two crosses without causing any fuss. All the defenders were great, bear in mind Ajayi was ill second half and Clarke playing his first game

- Molumby gave us a big lift with his competitiveness and anticipation. Looked better than Livermore. A bit worrying that Mowatt went off injured again.

- Superb strike from Grant, take a bow.

- Don Goodman was even more biased and twisted tonight, he sounded sick when we scored :)

We have been poor for weeks but we won and are top. If we can get through a bad patch and still be in this position then that’s great. I’m sure we all want to see more from our team though. Hopefully performances will improve.

Not good enough. Delighted we won but it was the quality of Grant that got us over the line. The football was very poor and I just can’t see us going up with this.

It’s a personal opinion but the style of play is important to me and there was no excitement or pride for me as a fan in this performance. Shocking.

Can you imagine IF we did go up playing this style of hoof ball?
We’d be thrashed every game probably with double figures!

Good result but rubbish performance.

Defence much better with Clarke in it, defence generally played well apart from Bartley falling asleep once.

Townsend far and away our best player in the first half. Livermore struggled to make a decent pass further than 10 yards in range.

Front 3 were a mess but that's down to VI.

Moloumby had a decent game when he came on. Seems to be able to spot the danger and where the ball is going to be before it happens which the rest struggle with.

Looked like Blues were going to win until we scored and then we took control of the game for the last 20 minutes. Not sure where we had been for the 70 before it.

Happy with the 3 points of course. Still a CF short and would like a more dynamic CM as well in Jan.

Totally agree with this comment. Forest tore them to shreds last game and they were bottom a couple of weeks ago. We are not great but we seem to restrict other teams from scoring

It's not pretty to watch but the method has seen us in the top 3 for the first quarter of the season.
Given the players have had to adapt to the new managers style I'll take that.

Bomber is a football man.  Winning is all that matters. We were pretty poor at times tonight and I'm absolutely buzzing with the win.

Awful game, awful performance, awful style of play, awful tactics, awful substitutions apart from the forced ones, awful manager with no plan B, just awful. Apart from that I am very happy  ;)

Not sure what our plan was all game, very disjointed, front 3 anonymous for most of the game apart from a moment of magic from Grant who, lets face it, was awful up to that point.

It's another win though and we are top so I'm going to have another beer.
Cheers all.

BTW surprised by all the negativity on here claiming our performance was terrible. It's almost like the fans are unhappy if we not battering teams every week and scoring goals for fun - it was a tough game.

We controlled the game, gave Blues next to nothing and found a way to win. Yes it was ugly and scrappy at times but you have to give Blues a lot of credit. They were very well set up and committed throughout. The important point was that we kept our concentration and didn't give a silly goal away, and relied on our extra quality to count, which what happened with Grant's goal.

A wins a win and a clean sheet. Overall it was a poor game, Blues like a lot of teams are bang average. Very surpisred that Deeney didnt come on for Small Heath.

Grant is really starting to come into his own, another great finish tonight.

Onto Swansea
