6 Games in , and he has been fine so far and has scored one goal and made two very good assists. He is not the prolific goalscorer that some people feel he should be, due to the fee paid for him. He will score 15+ goals and make a good contribution during a tough season.
It is not his fault that the club paid so much for him, give the guy a break.

Fair points well made. He's better than some suggest and there's more to come, of that I have no doubt.

Agree, he's been ok so far and has totally bought into the system. Saturday was poor, especially the pen, so he needs to bounce back, but I'm sure he will.

Grant has just never looked confident in an Albion shirt, I'm sure, like Diangana, that when he gets some confidence and self belief back, we will benefit. Between the two of them that is £30m worth of 'talent'.....somewhere

Cheap?

Yeah if were talking by Man City's standards.

So many Albion fans sound like the tightest man in Yorkshire with their eyes closed to the football transfer market. £15m for Grant payable over 5 years was cheap. Ollie Watkins was sold for £30m that summer.

Apparently Ollie Watkins was mentioned to us when he was at Exeter but no one took the hint ! As a comparison look what he did in the Prem last season compared to Grant . £15 m to me over whatever period has IMHO not so far proved good business.

It's still ultimately a £15m transfer fee, event though its spread over time.

So far from what Karlan Grant has done in an Albion shirt, he is not worth that amount.  But he is not alone, Livermore was not worth £11m and he is somewhat better than Burke at £15m.

It does happen that clubs make a mistake with large transfer fees, think the following

Silva, WW £35m
Iwobi, EVE £35m
James, LEE £30m
Joelinton, NU £40m
Ziyech, CHE £45m

I think that is the important point, we are six games into the season, it's too early to make a judgement on Grant's contribution, save for we know he can do it at this level.

I also think there's a footballer in there that maybe needs some confidence.

I’d like to think that any professional footballer that has reached this level, a level he’s used to, would need anymore cuddling.

I'm struggling to see what his strengths are regardless of where he's played.

He only got 45 minutes and wasn’t on the pitch second half which is when we passed it and got players forward. He’s a better goalscorer than Phillips or Hugell.

Been a poor signing for us but what makes his inclusion in team shocking is that Grady is being played out of position.

How many goals did we score second half without him and Robinson?

He's going to find himself quickly out in the cold if he doesn't improve. Diangana was excellent in his favoured position and along with Robinson who also got both barrels several times, VI spent the entire first half rollocking (for want of a better term - sorry if this is considered a swear word on here?) him.

I can't see any obvious strengths or even any glimmer of one. He's a very poor player who's had one decent season in his career. He'll be back at Charlton within a couple of years.

He's got 5 years left here on his contract.

Diangana can play both sides and I agree he's very effective on the left. However, his favoured position is on the right. He very nearly didn't sign his initial loan with us because he was worried about game time with Matt Phillips at the club. 100% ITK.

Well, provided Luke Dowling wasn't lying through his teeth at the supporters club evening I attended not long after Diangana came on loan that is. He did very well for us at Luton away though and things kicked on from there. He was simply happy to be playing.

As for Karlan Grant he has one position. One. It's on the left. He scored a lot of goals from central positions in the clips I've seen from his time at Huddersfield. Yet he almost always arrived at those positions from the left. His best moments for us this season have been when he's on the left too.

If Diangana starts wide left then for me Karlan Grant has to start on the bench. While I still believe there's more to come from him Karlan isn't as versatile as Grady. And as things stand I don't see a willingness from him to adapt. Strange bit of scouting and recruitment all round.

Unless the plan for last season was for a three of Grant, Pereira, Diangana behind a 'proper' central forward (who didn't arrive due to lack of funds) and Phillips on the bench with a view to phasing him out as his contract wound down rather than extending it as we have.

I’m not sure I’d have Karlan Grant even on the bench at the moment, as I can’t see what  positive impact he would have coming on as a sub . I think most of us can see why Sam A  was reluctant to use him last season .’
