When we are watching HRK bumble his way around the pitch in November, I will remind you of that comment.
didn't mention hrk. if they get two decent championship strikers in we will be fine rondon wont be missed. I personally would try to keep rodriguez sell rondon and get two in. its going to be interesting summer. its all about opinions though granted

So we are supposed to rate our own players based on media transfer speculation rather than their actual record playing for us? Rondon spurned key chances left right and centre in critical games and we ended up getting relegated by thin margins. He played a sizeable part in our relegation. Nothing class about that.
agree 100% with this. never seen a forward so bad in front of goal with the ball at his feet. I get that he works hard and all that. but we wont miss him one bit in my opinion.

Only short time ago he lost his new born baby so he may still be mentally effected I know I would be. He was sat in box today at the back of east stand and seemed ok. Had a photo with my lad. And few others. Hope he is ok. He has been below Apr for a while now. So he could be mentally still effected. Been better for england than for us. And he hasn't been that good for england. Hope he comes back fresher and stronger

I think the boredom lies with being an established mid table team.

1999/2000 - Survive Relegation on final day
2000/2001 - Play Offs
2001/2002 - Promotion
2002/2003 - Relegation
2003/2004 - Promotion
2004/2005 - Survive Relegation on final day
2005/2006 - Relegation
2006/2007 - Play Off Final
2007/2008 - Win the League
2008/2009 - Relegation
2009/2010 - Promotion

Eleven seasons in a row in which we were always fighting for our lives to get up or stay in the division so every game especially in the second half of the season was crucial. Except for the few months Pepe Mel was in charge, we have always been comfortable in that second half of the season with nothing to play for. That adrenaline rush that Albion fans were used to in the 2000-2010 decade has gone because the club has succeeded. The dream for Albion fans was to be an established Premier League team after so many years looking like we didn't belong at this level, we've reached that goal and hit our ceiling. So then the manager in charge will get the brunt of the criticism of fans boredom towards Albion when in fact it's the realisation that it doesn't really get much better than this. It's the repetitiveness of achieving our goal every season of 40 points when in fact we can't realistically ask for much more other than a cup run.
when you break it down this is spot on. Never really thought of it like this. We are at our pinnacle at the moment. Apart from another miracle like Leicester

Have to agree about leko. Watched him at Walsall tonight and 1st half he constantly gave the ball away cheaply. I understand wingers have to try to take full backs on. But they have to keep possession also from time to time. He improved 2nd half mind

Harper was very impressive take the ball anywhere under pressure and very good in tight situations. Looks a better prospect than field for me. Who grew as game went on.

I've had time to ponder on rondon. I must admit I'm not one of his biggest fans. But he works well in our system works tirelessly for the team and wants to be here. That last point is key for me. We may be able to get someone better but its a long shot and maybe only here for a short time until someone comes sniffing round. With rondon I feel he's genuinely happy here and I don't think could play any higher I think we are the perfect club for him. He does need competition though. You kind of wish he would start banging them in though he has a great attitude and must be a managers dream you know your going to get 100% which should be a given but is rarely these days

I never felt we were in danger at 1nil up. We were slow to close there winger down Canara for 1st goal and paid the price he played it to bent and the rest was history. 2nd goal a free kick which my hill should have judged better. Then we have a mountain to climb. Key moment was seconds before there equalizer when olsson headed across to McCauley whose really reliable usually to nod those chances in. Fine margins' if that goes in we win 3 or 4 nil. Doesn't change the fact I'm so disappointed though would have loved a cup run. On another note I really think having the whole away end is a huge advantage for away teams in fa cup games really helps the away team. So glad its not like that in the prem appreciate in fa cups its a rule that the away team has a bigger percentage of the gate. But its a huge boost for the traveling team especially if behind the goal

Watched him come out early for 2nd half. He looked unmotivated asked the coach to cross two balls in and that was it told him that was enough. Looked like he was going through the motions and it showed 2nd half. He doesn't move his feet quick enough to et in position to dive and just doesn't luck agile. He's way overweight aswell he was never that big before. It really cost us today. One save 2nd half summed it up. Forgot who shot it was hit with pace and going near post up high. He didn't move his feet and had to push it out dramatically. Foster would have caught it. All he had to do was move his feet. I know he's a reserve go but he should always be in shape at very least and sharp surely that's a given

I agree not clinical enough, scores in odd bursts but not regularly enough. Has he scored for two games on the trot?
was just saying this to my dad. He never scores in a run on the trot. Goalscires usually do eg odemwingie,Kevin Phillips, bob Taylor. He gets the odd one and a very good hat trick not so long ago but you would think his confidence would be sky high after that but he's not kicked on since. He should have buried the first half chance and never give Keogh chance to clear it off the line. I'm still unconvinced about him works hard scores occasionally but doesn't really show enough confidence to perform week in week out. Maybe a tad harsh but that's my opinion

The big difference was the personnel today and formation. We had two wide players in McClean and Phillips who worked incredibly hard, gave us width and attacked their full-backs when we countered. In previous weeks we've just had the Phillips outlet and it gets predictable for the opposition. Maybe even more crucial was playing Chadli in the middle as the number 10. His link up play with Rondon was terrific and he as an eye for a pass, skill and strength on the ball. He can also score goals. The guy is class. When we play 4-4-2, we have Fletcher and Yacob in the middle who sit and don't get forward and Berahino, when up-front with Rondo offers nothing. His touch, passing and work rate have been abysmal recently.

I was also pleased to see Pulis take Galloway off when he did. The kid was struggling and made several (basic) errors today. I thought Nyom looked good when he came on. Worked hard, wanted to get forward and he's a big lad. I can see him starting at left back next week against Stoke.

Also thought Pulis got the other substitutions right and the timing. Again Jimmy and Kanu did well when they came on. Helped take the sting out the game and give us some composure when things got a little nervy right after they scored their second.

All in all, a very encouraging performance and you can start to see the jigsaw coming together when you put the pieces in the right places.
spot on with this post. Galloway was getting skinned and tony made the right switch with nyom. I think I could have been very nervy if he'd have stayed on.

Very pleased , great 60ish mins.
Chadli and Rondon will get headlines but I thought McClean had his best game for us , crossing much improved and he never gives up.
agree thought mclean was everywhere his chasing back is brilliant. But produced going forward today

Hate to be the guy that picks out YouTube highlights but it's very telling that in the season before he joined us at Zenit I think the majority of his goals were within 12 yards. The fact he mostly scores headers for us shows that he's not getting the ball where he's used to scoring from. Hopefully chadli plays him in closer to goal and he finds his shooting boots again.
do agree though our support to him and service is shocking think chadli will improve it. And what I've seen of Phillips so far he can cross a ball. Think it that surprises me with pulis. Is that with stoke he hag genuine wingers who used to get to the byline and deliver. We've had these in mcmanaman. And now we have Phillips and he doesn't seem to utilize them in that way be it through them being to deep or not trusting mcmanaman I suppose I find it strange. I remember pennant and etherington being direct beating there man getting to the byline and whipping good crosses in for stoke. We don't seem to be able to do this. Unless old fashioned wing play is a dying art.

What's holding the takeover up anyway? Appreciate the premier league or fa or whoever have got to action it and make sure there fit and proper and stuff. But it seems to drag on like everything else at the hawthorns. The wolves and villa takeovers seemed to happen smoother than this. They started spending straight away. Nothings ever transparent at this club. Were always guessing

I'm torn on pulis now. Hare the way we play and the way we set up. But after the debacle of the transfer window(maybe partly pulis fault refusing to sign camacho and maybe others) is there anyone else who could keep this group up. I'm not sure. Suppose we won't know until we try. It's risky though. I can see both sides. Pretty sure the board feel this way too. Bit if a mess for all parties concerned

rondon is a good player.in another side giving him service from the wings and through the middle not 30 yards apart he will score loads of goals i hope chadli is the 10 and can link him better than morrison or Saido
I don't think he's bad just don't rate the guy that much. Some people go on like he's the finished article and a top striker which he's not. I don't think he will score many a season in any team regardless of service. If he gets any more than 10 again this season ill be amazed. He works hard for the team ill give him that but he can't pass or control a ball and his finishing is poor in my eyes he snatches at chances most the time. I hope he proves me wrong and scores 15+. I just can't see it. Play behrahino in his position and he will get more goals than rondon all day long. Hate to admit it but it's true

I'd like to see us line up like this
Foster
Dawson mcauley Evans Galloway
Fletcher yacob
Phillips Chadli leko
Rondon

Subs Myhill Olsson nyom Morrison McLean Berahino Robson-Kanu
Love to see 3 attacking players in front of fletcher and yacob like this line up. But guarantee pulls will have gardener or McLean in there to make us more solid. Would be refreshing to have a go at a side but it doesn't happen at home so can't see it happening here sadly😔

No real surprise chadli aside. The players we are now looking at are poor and won't really improve us really hope they make me eat my words and sign camacho and a good striker but they wont this is albiom >:(

I've always backed him because we have a poor squad and feel he gets the best out of what he's got. But enough is enough I just don't look forward to going anymore. Even the debacle when Mel took over we were at least entertaining is some games. Being hard to beat is one thing but being utterly negative is another

49
Leko wasn't great today but was direct and showed glimpses of his talent. He's raw but there's definitely a talent there. Always tried to beat his full back and came off a few times. Phillips looked a real athlete on the other wing. Was powerfull and showed good combination play with a few players. Saido looked very sharp. And Rondon got better as game went on. I think we look a lot better attacking wise this pre season than last and that's a positive all be it against lowly opposition today. I think a few more astute signings and we may have a decent season. All depends on wether we keep behrahino or sell him and replace him with a player equally as capable of goals though. Because like him or hate him he's our main threat

Unfortunately it isn't just Berahino who is not played in his natural position.
very true. Two proper full backs would be nice can't see it in the near future mind
