We heard someone at the front of the East Stand shout ‘Just F’ing kick the ball!’ Really loudly when Palmer was lining up to take the free kick that was the last kick of the game. So was probably something to do with that.

A few people have mentioned similar on Twitter: (https://x.com/wba_frenchie/status/1769058777980973522?s=46&t=MBT2fxXFGpVqJja3oab1ew)

It's something of nothing really. Furlong was first to react and he shouldn't have to be honest. People in the stands will shout things they're not all going to sit there in absolute silence for ninety minutes. Furlong should just ignore it unless it's something serious that crosses a line. In this case there appears to be little to no suggestion of that.

Didn't really get out of first gear first half. We were really good second half till we got a bit sloppy last fifteen minutes or so.

Our wingers have really transformed this team. Fellows with another good goal today. Johnston may not have scored or claimed an assist today but he was magnificent today, his best performance in an Albion shirt.

Three points and that Dingles result. This is what I call a good Saturday.  ;D

That's what you call making clean contact with the ball........ And close to the corner so gave any keeper no chance.

The ball hit the net before the keeper had completed his dive. I'd love to know what the mph of that shot was.

All we had to do was go longer from the back and eliminate their press and play from there. We did that second half and it showed just how poor Huddersfield are.

I'm 50 years old and I've seen some rubbish in my time but that first 35 minutes was as bad as anything I've seen from an Albion team. Absolutely abysmal. If Huddesfield weren't so bad we'd be 4 down.

Carlos has to change things at the break surely?

To be fair you’d be fuming. Not assured of scoring it but even if missed they’d have been playing against ten for the remainder and battered us 11v11.  Understandable that the ref missed it but it’s still a bit poor from the ref and his team.

It (Kipre handball) is exactly the type of incident VAR should
be used for instead of what it is actually used for.

I don't blame the ref at all for missing it nor his assistants. I saw three or four replays and still didn't notice it. It was only when the commentators mentioned it after someone had spotted it after several replays and different angles that I became aware of the handball. There were three or four QPR players inside the penalty area and the only one to appeal was the centre forward who was right next to Kipre, all the others put their hands to their heads thinking Palmer had pulled off a wonder save.

It was incredibly difficult to spot at full speed in the moment.  QPR fans, players and staff have every right to feel really aggrieved, they absolutely deserved the three points.

Emotions run high straight after games and I can understand Steve Cook's comments but saying the officials have to get that decision right is expecting an awful lot without help.

I can concede that he has some good games,I’m willing to accept he may be the best option we have (because Pipa hasn’t been given a run)
But best 1v1 ??????
People got closer during Covid ..

Check out his stats over a period of time.

Pieters and Reach were awful. Pipa cant defend, how many times was he grabbing the wingers shirt too, got away with it once.
Game bypassed our midfield due to QPR's press, they didnt stop.

Wallace isnt a striker, need someone to hold up the ball to take away the pressure. We needed to slow the game down, but when we did QPR were on the players pressing again.

Didnt think their first pen was a pen, if there was VAR, dont think it wouldve been given. Arms raised, yes, but jumping next to his side.

Apart from our 2 cracking goals, we didnt do much.

Still 1 point though, lets get the 3 on Sunday which will be another tough game!

It was a cast iron pen. Had Reach been facing away from the ball then your point is valid but he actually turned his body. When you do that and the ball hits the arm it's going to be given.

Reach was desperate last night and Pipa when he came on was even worse. Watching him getting run ragged by their winger was a hard watch.

Maybe people will realise how good Townsend is now. No, he's not perfect and his lack of invention in forward areas irritates me a bit sometimes but he's the best 1 v 1 left back in the Championship.

That was one hell of a point to get. The status quo remains with Hull and we've gained a point on Norwich despite getting absolutely battered by a hugely improved QPR team who are right on the peak of their form at the moment and fresh from a win at league leaders Leicester.

They are a completely different outfit to the one that turned up at the Hawthorns under the hapless Ainsworth earlier in the season.

As good as they were we were off it last night. Two moments of quality from our ever producing wingers papered over what was a really poor performance. The Championship is relentless and incredibly demanding and every team has days like we had last night.

How the hell we managed to escape with a point I still can't get my head round but what matters is, we did!

Swift has his qualities and has done OK for us but I always find myself wanting a bit more from him. He is what he is, a solid Championship player.

IF this current squad (loanees included) had Matheus Pereira instead, it would be a better squad than the promoted squad Pereira was part of.

Johnston and Fellows are my type of wingers. They are direct, they want to attack full backs high up the pitch and they are always a threat, even when they are relatively quiet. Once again they hurt the opposition. Johnston with another goal  even better than the one at Plymouth IMO, and Fellows with yet another assist.

Yokuslu and Mowatt bossed the game for a hour and Mowatt carried the fight once Okay had gone off. He was magnificent Mowatt and for me has been our player of the season so far.

The initial subs made us lose our way for a spell but bringing Bartley on and going to three at the back was exactly the right thing to do and that change nullified their threat.

Coventry must have more long range shots than anyone in the league they shoot from pretty much anywhere. Sometimes there are better options and they need to try and work the ball around the box a bit more.

This blind trust stuff is nonsense. There is no one on planet earth that doesn't make mistakes therefore everything should be questioned.

The substitutions against Southampton killed any chance we had of getting an equaliser. I'm not going to absolve Carlos of blame because some of our fans treat him as some sort of unquestionable genius. That's their failing.

Carlos is doing a good job but upto now it seems to me that he is a better head coach when he has limited options. When he has a variety of options he doesn't appear to manage them well.

Diangana, for example, had recently been away at the AFCON. We didn't miss him one bit. Upon his return he's put back in the starting line up. All he did yesterday was lose the ball every time he received it, as is more often than not the case.

Carlos isn't perfect, no-one is. It doesn't mean he's hated or he needs to be sacked because he's questioned.

Palmer is a good keeper, I've no problem with him at all at this level.

However, he really shouldn't have conceded that goal. Yes it was well struck but it was a good height for a keeper and seemed to go through his hands.

I've absolutely no doubt that on seeing it back Palmer himself will be critical of himself.

The letter of the law might state that its a red card but its absolutely ridiculous. Just give Saints the ball and play on, it was hardly a hanging offence. Common sense needs to exist.

First thing to say is Southampton are the best side I've seen at the Hawthorns this season.

However, games swing on moments.

At the game from where I was I couldn't tell if it was a pen from Furlong's shot but everyone tells me it was and it was cast iron and a red card. If we score that and there are no further goals everything seems different. I know IF is the biggest word (you know) in the dictionary but the ref has punched us to the floor with that decision.

Game state is another massive thing. Anyone who knows me will confirm that as I'm a bettor on horse racing percentage chance is a big thing to me. Before the three subs of Marshall, Diangana and Reach we were competing in the game. The next goal was massive and when assessing the game I thought it was pretty much the toss of a coin who was going to get it, maybe 55 - 45 in our favour. As soon as those three changes were made it changed to around 30 - 70. I do not understand them at all. I can understand wanting to change it up but Diangana out wide and Weimann through the middle surely if you want to make multiple changes??

Reach is not, never has been and never will be a "wide forward" he's a wide midfielder in a four or a wing back. When you're desperate for an equaliser you don't Reach for Adam (see what I did there) Young Marshall doesn't look ready for this level to me.

Ah well, we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and get ready for Plymouth.

Interesting comments in the after match debate, especially on the man of the match choices. It always amuses me when you have differing opinions. This can happen I suppose when one or two players stand out, but when people comment, Fellows man of the match by a long way or Furlong man of the match easily, you do wonder how people come to those conclusions. Surely they can’t both be man of the match by a country mile!

Everyone has their own opinion and they are perfectly entitled to them. I sometimes wonder what people see myself but sometimes it can depend on which part of the ground people are watching from as different vantage points can offer a different perspective.

Personally, I thought Furlong did fine without standing out whereas Fellows carried a consistent threat and varied his game today. Blues resorted to fouling him three or four times to control him. He was the only threat we had up until the goal and shouldve got an assist when he made half a yard and chipped in a beautiful cross for Mowatt who somehow missed the target with a header he failed to connect properly with from about five yards. To be fair it was good tracking back by Sunjic to put Mowatt under pressure but Alex really shouldve scored.

Adrian Goldberg on his podcast nominated Jed Wallace as MOTM. I just don't see that at all.

Just got in, tried to avoid the score, logged on WBA TV and showed me the score straihgt away again!

How did we play? Who was MOTM? ANy one poor etc?

Well done Carlos, well done lads.

Poor game both teams looked flat, very few chances.

Fellows MOTM by a street.

No one particularly poor but Marshall was really underwhelming when he came on, couldn't hold the ball, made wrong decisions and looked out of his depth. It's his first appearance having only been at the club a couple of days but I'm hoping for much better going forward.

That Coventry goal gave a glimpse of the potential that is clearly there. I feel it is a bigger loss than people are admitting. He would have played every game this month and made a big contribution I feel.

Wasn't it Cardiff?

Personally I don't think he's a huge loss, he never really achieved the heights we hoped he would. He was no Harvey Barnes that's for sure.

It's yet another body down thats the biggest issue for me.

I like TF and has greatly progressed in stature, but he needs to get some assists and goals.

Agreed. However, how he hasn't got an assist by now is a bit of a mystery, he's created a number of opportunities, we just haven't taken them.

The BTA one today is a really bad miss when you see it from the angle behind BTA. BTA could hit it first time to the keepers left but when he brings it back onto his left foot he has a huge gap to the keepers right, all he has to do is sidefoot the ball into that area. Instead he blasts the ball right down the middle of the goal.

Switch to 3421 and play wingbacks.

I'm sick to death of watching him chop one way, chop the other, do a stupid step over, turn back, get in a tussle with the defender and then lose the ball. The reason why we’re not creating anything is because this show pony is taking all the pace out of our attacks.

Not to mention the other one (Diangana). The most over-rated player we've had in years.
