Smith has bee charged by the FA, after he was red carded in last night's match.
Charged with allegedly using abusive and/or insulting language towards a match official.

He should be red carded every game. I find his face abusive. ☺️

Dean Smith (manager of the month 🤣) has been banned from the touchline for one game and fined £8,000 after reluctantly admitting a charge of using abusive and insulting language towards the referee at Manchester City.

Villa have completed the signing of Morgan Sanson from Marseille for an undisclosed fee thought to be around 14 million pounds. The deal is subject to international clearance

Villa have released their accounts and since 2006 they have lost nearly £550 million and current wages are 97% of turnover ... none of this is sustainable

And that's before taking into account (from memory) promotion at our expense and the associated monies, money from HS2 for a bit of bog land at the edge of Bodymoor Heath, cooking the books to a tune of circa £38,000,000 for the 'redevelopment' of their 'academy' and the sale of the Seal Pen to their owners to balance things out. Puts things into perspective regarding the playoffs, what we were up against last night and just how bent football is that they can get away with this kind of flollox.

Tipped to take over at Swansea.

Oh I hope not, watching the seals tie themselves in knots about greasy jack has been the most entertaining thing I've read in months!

Hard to judge without knowing the price. I don’t see him having another season where he gets 20+ league goals though. I think he’ll get around 10!

That’s a good signing by the Villa unfortunately!

They are spending the money from City already it seems.

I don't know, depends how well his body holds up. If he plays a full-ish season he will do well for them. Hope he doesn't!

Villa paid £25m guaranteed and upto another 5m in add ons apparently. Not sure if that's a good deal or not?

They are buying a proven goalscorer.

He improves them immensely.

Ssd to think we were ahead of them 2-3 years ago and now they are streets ahead

If it’s £25m I think it’s a poor deal for Villa. He’s 29, had some bad injuries and one great season. He’s a good player but it’s a lot in the circumstances

Smith has barely won a match without Jack Grealish for 3 seasons. A few panic buys will make no difference to his shambolic record.

Dark horses for the drop.

I rate him as a player but as mentioned earlier, will his body hold up for 3 more years.

Sadly that's money. Villa running at around net loss of £220m for the last 3 years (not including 20/21 season) and that includes the money they received from sale of ground and new training area.

Owners are pumping in around £100m a season on average it feels like. Putting their money where their mouths are.

Villa seem to be going on a trolley dash through John Lewis i.e. buying up some nice but pricey items but let's not kid ourselves it isn't Harrods. I hate Ings at £30m his injury record is as bad as his goal scoring record is good at 29 that isn't going to get better.

How this turns out in the short term depends on how adept Smith is at bolting together what might be a fairly disparate collection of expensive players into a coherent whole. Let's wait and see.
