Former Arsenal defender Tony Adams plans a sensational £150million takeover of Aston Villa.
The ex-England international is understood to have approached City investors in recent weeks in a bid to raise funds for the ambitious project.
Adams, 48, is working with former IMG and Chelsea executive Paul Smith, and the duo are also keen to buy shares in clubs in Belgium, Italy and Portugal, according to Sky News.
Randy Lerner will go ahead with his plans to sell Villa this summer despite his delight at the club reaching the FA Cup Final.
And the 53-year-old American billionaire won’t ask for any guarantees from any of the three rival consortia who have held talks about buying the club over the future of manager Tim Sherwood.
