All well and good taking on a young talented player, but I always think they must be introduced into a position that they excel in, with equally, or more talented individuals around them. All well and good if that is City, but our defence is not at it’s best at the moment.
Humanity is a parade of fools, and I’m at the front of it...twirling the baton.

Hasn't looked to convincing so far.

Cant see him getting anywhere near the City first team anytime soon.

Keep hearing about how he is comfortable on the ball and the best of the defence for ball playing, yet he seems to give the ball away a lot.

The last couple of games he will have learnt a lot, but I don't think a back 3 suits him in the slightest.

I think in a back four and not asked to play like a midfielder, he would be fine, as would all of our central defenders, even Bartley.

The problem with being asked to play the passing football is that as soon as they misplace a couple of those passes, the confidence disappears from them which ruins the remainder of their game as a result. He, like many others currently, is being hung out to dry by those in charge.

I actually thought he was the best of the back 3 last night, which is quite worrying really..........

Seems to me the only one capable of playing the ball out from the back but is lacking other basics, he's here and not near the first team at City for a reason and its showing

I think he looks very nervous and a little bit lost.

Tosin is young and inexperienced, he came to us and get that experience, on paper you would look at Bartley and Dawson, two no nonsense defenders and say he will learn from those, add Hegazi in who can be okay, you think it would work for us, him and City.

The problem is that those defenders who you would think would be solid now look shells of the players they could be / used to be, they are being asked to play a way they clearly cant, they arent getting better at it either, there arent signs of improvement, they are infact getting worse at it and its affecting their all round game.

Tosin is getting minutes here and there in a very poor and out of form defence, as it stands he will probably go back to City a worse one than who came here as he is getting torn a new one every time he plays.

Personally for the time being i would switch to a 4 and put Dawson at right back (his performances this season have done nothing to keep him at centre half) and play Tosin and Hegazi or Bartley at centre half, with Gibbs at left back.

I have thought for ages with the players we have we should be playing a 4-3-3 anyway but if Big Dave and Jones are adamant they want to go 3-5-2 then at least tighten up until January and then buy defenders who can play the way they want.

What I found odd last night was that in a three he was favoured as the man dole man and Dawson on the right. When we moved to a four he was moved to the right. Surely if he was better on the right of a four he should have been on the right of a three also.

I have been watching the man City documentary on amazon prime and at the start of last season they showed a tactics board on it where there showed every position and the players available at that position (starter and back up) and this guy was so highly rated by them last season that he was back up for Otamendi, in team that went on to break records.

But, I think his development stalled and they chased Evans and went on to buy laporte last January.

His decline has continued when he was allowed to leave on loan and now he looks like a nervous wreck and terrible compared to the derby loanee from Chelsea Tomouri, who I thought was outstanding yesterday.

He was good today, him and Dawson look strong....it's just the other "defender"

Thought the lad had a good game today. Did anyone else notice he started in the middle today & then switched places with Daws?
Someone else reckons Bartley is now suspended. Perhaps ongoing, the better back 3 will be Tosin, Daws & Hegazi? But who would play on the left?? All 3 (4 if you include Bartley) are right footed!

He is a good footballer. Pep wouldn't trust him otherwise. Should be key to the way we play when we have the ball - gives it away less of than the other CBs, but needs the midfield to show regardless

Pep doesn't trust him, or he wouldn't be here, he'd be sitting next to Foden on their bench and playing in cup games.

He was OK today, but he is nowhere near champions league quality so unless he has an Outstanding rest of the season for us then he will probably be sold by them.

Very similar to the wisdom loan in that respect.

Wisdom was awful. This lad is a step up.

Played well today missed just one header but Dawson swept up.

He's far better than Bartley and for now that will do us.

Possibly his best performance for us today. I thought Dawson was improved too.

Two out of three ain't bad I don't suppose.

Agreee - Hegazi on the left , who is for me, the best footballing defender at the club.

His best game for us without a doubt. Possibly one fault many of us have (and I include myself) when judging players who aren't regular first teamers yet is that we don't fully appreciate that it takes a few games for them to get fully up to speed and show their best form. I feel this is true of Adarabioyo, and players like Field, Burke and Townsend as well.

Tosin. Dawson and Barry for me

In January , I'd be in for Cahill on loan

Up front I'd get Defoe in on loan and we would walk this league

Not sure about Barry in defence but it might work.
Cahill for definite if possible.
Defoe's a no for me mate he's too similar a player to our Dwight.
I think we definitely need a strong cb.
Keep trying with our young midfielders and what about the Italian lad at westham I think, you know the guy who started off scoring for fun ,although I stand corrected I think he plays for the hammers.
But either way to enable us to attract the top type of players that we need to come we must be top two at Christmas.

I can imagine the melt down if we brought in 2 ageing pros rather than younger players.

We couldn't afford the wages for Cahill or Defoe.

We had a ball playing centre half in Johnny Evans & we couldn't afford him either.

We've got the players we have because that's all we can afford (or are prepared to pay)
If it was easy, it wouldn't be Albion

Whole team lot more comfortably as played with four at the back and ditched the silly 3-5-2 formation.
