FFS! all that hard work for the backline to take spot kicks.
P#ssed off doesn't come near to what I am feeling. Brunt will never learn about rash challenges, deserved a red and destroyed any momentum we had.
Four defenders taking penalties .... inconceivable !!!
Now we can move on to the new manager search and see whats left after the vultures have picked our team apart. I fear we face many years in the Championship now.

Come on , Hegazi messing around meant Brunt had to try and stop Mcginn on his left foot

I'm not going to say too much but Brunt has stayed two seasons too long in my opinion.

I'm disappointed as villa haven't really threatened us over the two legs yet they still squeek through.

Dodgy referee decisions cost us over these two games however the board have cost us this season.

But as I said early were Albion and we'll go again!

Absolutely criminal to not have enough attackers in this squad who can actually come in and make a difference to this team

Brunt possibly cost us this game

Can see a clear out now and a rebuild job

Great character to hold on. Probably too knackered to take pens in the end. We needed to score in 2nd half when were the better team. Hopefully they lose in the final ......convincingly or on pens?

Brunt cost us big time tonight, we had them on the ropes 11 v 11. For a player of his expereince that should be the last we see of him tonight.

Villa had us on the back foot and dominated the ball on our own patch.

What really v cost us was Shan parking the bus at 0-1 at Seal Park.

Villa had all the ball but did nothing with it. It was ours to lose, hey ho it's done now.

we looked safe until the sending off, endorsed what s been mentioned all season that Brunt is not a central midfielder. so annoying  to end up in that situation with no strikers to fill in for the absence of Gayle and HRK. it was apparent before the season started we needed midfield reinforcements and that's where I think it's gone wrong. Will add though that if we could have retained Harvey Barnes all season we'd have gone up automatically, some on here said he's no big loss, they were wrong he was a huge loss who made this team so different to what it is without him.

The players and fans did us proud tonight. Brunt silliness DID cost us tonight paint it however you want. The game changed after his red and not having a strike force cost us even more.

The two reds decided this two legged tie. The lack of seeing the bigger picture from the board cost us the season.

Please can we get an actual manager in charge with experience. To say we've done this with two rookies over the season speaks volumes about the potential this squad had to push on this season if properly managed. What is our squad going to look like next season? Gibbs,Hegazi, Dawson, (Holgate, Tosin-loans) will most likely leave... straight away back line is in need of serious recruitment. We have well and truly messed up our chance this season, love big dave but think the risk of letting him feel his way through management at such an important time for the club has backfired unfortunately. Can't help but feel doom and gloom our squad is going to be ridiculously different, not saying its a bad thimg but how many years is it going to take, hopefully we get some excitement in the next couple years

Proud of them to a man tonight they showed unbelievable character and can hold their heads high. Dictated the play pretty much in both games and had it not been for an awful referee in the first game we’d have beaten them. Time for a much needed clear out now and a 5 year plan has to be put in place we may suffer the next few years but it needs to happen now.

It's embarrassing playing like that we haven't moved on from the Pulis days of scrambling a set piece goal and defending for our lives.

In the league our defenders never put their bodies on the line like tonight.  Lack of motivation and soft mentality.

Be a Man and admit Villa were better over 2 legs.

Proud of all the lads who stayed on the pitch.  Indiscipline cost us in the playoffs, but over the season as a whole we were not good enough to go up... still feel sick.

Glad the season's over, been diabolical from start to finish. Appoint sh*t managers, win sh*t prizes. The team selection, subs and use of the squad this season has been atrocious. Tactically we've been clueless and we've been awful to watch under both head coaches for different reasons. Even tonight, we had our foot on Villa's throat in the second half and we make the most cowardly subs possible to shoot ourselves in the foot. Montero would have had their defence on toast, even Murphy had the better of them.

Nobody deserves to lose like that more than Jenkins, we'll be in this division for the forseeable under that cretin. I'm going to enjoy a nice long summer without having to watch us play before inevitably returning next season for more rubbish served up by the next in a long line of dour and uninspiring managers.

Don't care who wins the play offs now, all 3 of them appointed good head coaches and have planned for the future. It's better for football if clubs run by clowns like our board aren't in the PL.

Couldn’t ask for much more tonight. Not surprised that Brunt was dumb enough to floor a Villa player after being on a yellow. He doesn’t have the legs to play in the middle and jumps into rash challenges. J-Rod worked hard but offered no threat whatsoever, laughable to compare him to Gayle. I thought Johnson was superb during the game. Amazing save to take it to extra time. But then meek on penalties. Didn’t stay big like Steele and could / should have saved that penalty from Abraham that was poor. Clear mistake letting young inexperienced Holgate take the first pen. If your doing that give it to Leko or Harper, more natural footballers. Hegazi wasn’t that bad a penalty but he paid no attention to their GK and didn’t look particularly interested before or after he took it, same dead eyed stare. We weren’t good enough this year and need to move heaven and earth to keep Gayle and then clear out the dead wood OAP midfielders and I include Livermore in that bracket. We need players that can pass the ball and get around the pitch. Also desperately need another striker to help Gayle out, 3 with HRK and J-Rod isn’t good enough.

Unforgivable from Brunt. Honestly it's time to move on from him anyway but to do that today is so so irresponsible and should be the final nail for him.

Much bigger problems would still be there even if we had come through tonight, but the game was there for the taking and he basically ruined any chance of winning pre-pens (and probably would have improved our odds for pens too).

You have to look at tonight and compare our squads with Villa. The midfield and firepower they had vs us was laughable and still they lost on the night to our kids and ten men ha ha (small consolation but they're nowhere near being as  good as their fans think).

Jenkins needs to take the Brunt tonight (see what i did there) . Wonder if we'll ever see a proper manager and midfielders who can pass and run again at the Hawthorns?

I know it was 10 v 11 for a long time but our ball retention and passing was so poor when we did get the ball.

Good shout, I would have backed him putting his foot through the ball over Holgate, Hegazi.

Great effort with 10 men. At least our experienced players used their heads....
Makes the penalty on Holgate at VP even more galling.
Gayle plays tonight and we win...

The two reds decided this two legged tie. The lack of seeing the bigger picture from the board cost us the season.

Couldn’t agree more. The owner & board have shown themselves to be clueless & by their deeds, we are now screwed.

Can expect the usual fire sale/asset strip to make as much cash as possible to try to cut their losses.
2 questions.
Who, in their right mind, would want to buy this club?
What right minded, young, talented footballer would want to sign for this club?

We are a shambles

It just wasn't to be. I am finding it hard to find criticism tonight after the effort the boys put in. Ultimately, we were screwed over by the officials at Vile Park?
