...then so be it".

“I am a West Brom player and I have to look at my situation and, of course, if
it means Wigan have to go down then so be it,” said Scharner.

“We need a minimum of four wins and a draw, maybe.

“I’m prepared to help and it is now on everyone to take the chance and help.

“It is a hard time and if you fight against relgation, it shows how hard you
are."

“We have 11 games left and there are enough points to survive. I am quite sure we will have to fight until the end of the season.  For sure, a relegation fight is hard and we have the potential and are strong
enough to turn it around.”

Four wins and a draw may be enough I think, let's hope our players are up for the fight.  Going on his last performance, possibly Scharner is.

Don't understand why he has said this, to be honest. It is as if someone has questioned whether his loyalties lie in Wigan.

Thou shalt not maketh jokes. This used to be the best board, I'd ever been on.

Liked the passion Scharner showed on Sunday, he's a bit of a character.

Still unsure why he's said this though....

What has he really said? He's just stating the obvious, I'd rather him say this than something like "I dunno if I'd rather us or Wigan stop up". Who knows what the journalist asked him anyway.

What would you expect him to say? If he said anything different I would cancel his contract.

Loved him rousing up the Brummie Road the other day and have Elokobi walk into him. I thought Scharner suited the derby occassion, made some cracking crunching tackles.

But at least he shows a bit of passion as per sunday...
Wish a few more of our side could mirror that...

I thought that, he seems well up for it and hopefully can install this mentality into everyone else

To be honest I wish he would just shut the f*** up and concentrate on playing football.

Definately is a personality that needs to be in the limelight all the time.  Can see why other players are p****d off with him.

Scharner reminds me of Paul Robinson. You couldn't stop that guy running his mouth off to the press!

Whether he's a chronic gobs***e or just likes to stir things up a bit, some of his comments are a cracking read!

Cool, so you'd rather a play who just sulks in a relegation battle? Nice one

Check this out anyway, quite funny...

So do I to be honest, we've had this before with Scharner. Words mean absolutely zilch do people really expect him to say "i hope Wigan survive at the expense of Albion" because thats what it boils down to.

Just shut up and do your talking where it counts - on the pitch!

Should this be linked directly to the player and fan thread?

No wonder players are becoming more isolated from fans when they get criticised for answering direct questions from journalists. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
