Without bta we’ve got players in the box that understand what runs to make. Definitely know need to change it.

It’s great he can now play against us. It should be really easy to exploit his weaknesses and score a hatful of goals

The fact we have more clean sheets than any other team in the championship since he left is no coincidence. He was a liability defensively

Unfortunately the size of his wage means he has to leave in the summer - unless someone wishes to sign him before hand.

If we're also in this division then it is about time we started putting some faith in Caleb Taylor. It would be disappointing to see his persist in offering Bartley a new deal to the detriment of Taylor.

Taylor might not make it with us but given our need to generate income then its an experiment we need to take sooner rather than later.
Surely it would depend on what salary he would be prepared to accept not his current salary?

Fair points re Gyorkeres and well made. That'll teach me for not doing my research before making a number of off the cuff statements in a general comment aimed at no one in particular  ;D .

Taken in deeper context what's nonsensical about suggesting there are still deals to be had from Europe in a post Brexit world when Swansea have recruited the uncapped Dutch born Piroe from the Eredivisie?

I haven't researched his background either so feel free to shoot that one down at your leisure. I won't get upset if you suggest I'm talking nonsense by the way.

As for Luton, having not delved into their budget for scouting and recruitment I believe they've made some shrewd signings in recent years. These won't have come about by accident and their position in the table won't be solely down to Rob Edwards.

They've recruited a manager whose style of play fits the squad they've already recruited. There's nothing nonsensical about that and it's the kind of joined up thinking we should apply to our own recruitment.

Why did I pluck Luton out of the air? Because of their position in the table which has been achieved on a budget presumably lower than the ones we've had at our disposal for years pooh poohing suggestions wim doomed to failure because our parachute payments have run dry.

For further reference see Coventry and some of the bargain basement players there who are delivering more than some of our own poorly and lazily recruited players have enabling Gyorkeres to showcase his talents.

With luck and a fair wind yesterday's post will now make more sense. But the point remains that there are still deals out there to be made. To suggest otherwise would quite frankly be a total and utter nonsense. Now if you'll excuse me I'm off for my morning workout. Seize the day  8) .

Yes you are right. There are still deals out there for foreign players, but they tend to be players from the bigger European clubs rather than lower league overseas players. Piroe qualified for a work permit because he played for PSV Eindhoven in 2020/2021. He got 10 points for playing at least 1 game in the Eredivisie & then got 3 more because they qualified for the champions league qualifiers and another 3 because they got to the last 32 of the europa league. If he had played for a lower stature club he wouldn’t have qualified.

It’s becoming more and more obvious that he is a liability. Responsible for both of the goals while he was on the pitch again.
Does anyone have stats on goals conceded when he’s on the pitch and when he’s not?

Can someone explain to me what “Lai out” means? What do people expect him to do as a result?

XG is meaningless? I'll go tell all the professional clubs using it...

A penalty is worth 0.76 xG so 1.2 for the game. But we didn't get the pen.

If Man Utd hadn't had theirs, their xG would have been above one still, indicating they ought to have still beaten us.

So without changing anything about how we played our xG could’ve been 3 times higher than it was. As I said pretty meaningless

XG is a pretty meaningless metric though. What would our xG have been if we had been given the penalty we should’ve had?

Looks like refund will only be given if you have already paid for a 2020/21 early bird season ticket. It says anything carried over from a 2019/20 can either be carried forward to a 2021/22 season ticket or used for ballot tickets this season, nothing about refunding it.

Why would anybody play Brunt wide left these days?

He is never going to beat a full back and get to the by line to cross and it also stops him from cutting in and shooting making him even more of a waste of space than he is on the right

I have no experience of real world auctions, just online auction sites like ebay where the reserve price is listed for all to see. To not show the reservation is to me a lack of transparency, to ignore my emails was just bad practice.

Hidden reserve prices exist on ebay too. If the seller wants to reveal it, that is up to them

I like it and can see and appreciate the logic of not selling it but auctioning it off instead as the money is going to a good cause.
However that said I would have bought it if it had been for sale rather than the 2nd choice ,which I don't like.

I'm not so sure I'll bid through the auction as it will cost at least £75 I reckon (depending on player). The auction also has an undisclosed minimum price. I once "won" a Yacob match worn shirt for £60 but as the bidding hadn't reached a certain amount I wasn't allowed the shirt (even though there was nothing stating a minimum bid price). I emailed them to complain and got no reply.

It is quite normal to put a "Reserve" on lots in an auction and keep secret what the value of the reserve is. If the bidding doesn't reach the reserve then it's not sold. The auctioneer also has discretion not to sell an item that doesn't have a reserve if they feel the highest bid is not sufficient.

These are all normal rules for an auction.

and then the circus starts again in January

That's what happens when we have top notch players playing for us. I suppose we could go back to having rubbish players again. That would solve it don't you think? :o

I think Field will go on loan somewhere when the loan window reopens.

There is no loan widow any more. So he is stuck here until Jan

I guarantee without a shadow of a doubt that if that ever came into effect I'd walk away from football and never look back.

A walking cardiac case who's stuffed half the catering kiosk down his/her neck, bought two seats because they can't fit onto one and the same for coach seats would be the club's ideal in such a scenario.

I don't even buy the shirt yet travel home and away for every game, but by this logic I could potentially be seen as less loyal by the club than someone who goes to half the games but has a desire to own half of the club shop providing it comes in XXXXL.

Loyalty built on wealth, appetite and a love of merchandise over attendance?

I don't think so chap..........

Ok, i agree, maybe i didn't think through kiosk & club shop bit. But my main point is why do i get 1500 points for renewing my season ticket but the chap that buys tickets for individual games gets 380 even though he shells out more? Surely that's not fair. Even if that chap went to every home & away game he would still be miles behind the home season ticket holder that doesn't go away except for Wembley games. A ridiculous state of affairs for a "loyalty" scheme

There are plenty of people that can't afford £380+ in one hit and cant, or don't want to, take out credit.

A proper fair way to do loyalty points would be to award 1 point for every pound spent with the club. I'd include all spending, coaches, club shop, snack kiosks etc

Has the subject of the obscene amount of loyalty points being dished out to season ticket holders been brought up?
  • How are they more "loyal" than someone who buys an individual ticket for every game
  • They pay less than someone who buys an individual ticket for every game
  • If it's unfair to get loyalty points for using the clubs coaches then surely this is even more unfair

By the way i'm saying this in the spirit of fairness as a season ticket holder who doesn't use the coaches
