West Bromwich Albion FC / Reid out for a month
« on: December 24, 2011, 10:43:14 AM »
West Brom midfielder Steven Reid has been ruled out for one month following a knee operation.

More to follow.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16325963.stm

STEVEN Reid will be sidelined for around a month after undergoing a successful knee operation yesterday.

The right-back required the surgery to repair wear and tear that had built up over the past couple of months.

He was forced off in the seventh minute at Newcastle on Wednesday after twisting his left ankle and it is hoped that this injury will also heal during his rehab from his left-knee operation.

Reid, a league ever-present this term, was replaced at the SportsDirect Arena by BIlly Jones.

The medical staff will today assess the progress of James Morrison and Youssouf Mulumbu ahead of the Boxing Day home date with Manchester City (ko 3pm).

Morrison's injury, suffered at Blackburn on Saturday, forced him to miss the Newcastle win while Mulumbu had to come off 14 minutes from time on Tyneside with a groin problem.

Big blow for us. Time for Billy Jones to step up.

West Bromwich Albion FC / The Red Routing of main parking roads
« on: October 30, 2011, 03:18:38 PM »
http://www.sandwell.gov.uk/info/542/red_routes/1709/west_bromwich_and_oldbury_red_route_improvements

The effected roads

    Kenrick Way (A4168/A4182)
    Telford Way (A4252)
    Trinity Way (A4031)
    Kelvin Way (A4182)
    Bromford Road (A4034)
Oldbury Ringway (A457) - West side between Churchbridge and Bromford Road
    Churchbridge (A4034)

Match Day parking

How will the proposals affect parking for matches at West Bromwich Albion's ground, the Hawthorns?

Parking on the Red Route will be restricted to marked bays only, providing approximately 420 spaces.
Parking will not be permitted on the central reserves of dual carriageways, or close to main junctions.
Parking in marked bays will not be permitted before 7pm on a weekday evening.
Parking in marked bays will be permitted at anytime at the weekend or on a Bank Holiday

More details on where match day parking will be allowed on the Red Route is included in the Consultation Leaflet and the detailed route plans.

Our surveys indicate that the current demand for Match Day parking along the proposed Red Route is around 760 vehicles. Parking bays for approximately 420 vehicles are provided as part of the proposals, in the vicinity of the ground, where it is safe to park and where there are suitable walking routes to and from the parking spaces.

Consequently, about 340 vehicles which currently park in this area could be displaced as a result of the Red Route proposals.

To address the reduction in available on-road parking, Sandwell Council are currently considering two options:

Match Day parking in Lewisham Park, off Dartmouth Road. Following a trial at the start of the football season, Sandwell Council is considering whether to provide a more permanent facility for match day parking at Lewisham Park, which has spaces for up to 500 vehicles.
Match Day Parking Zones. Sandwell Council is considering introducing Match Day Parking Zones to control parking in residential streets.

Although it does not form a part of this consultation, Sandwell Council is investigating the potential to introduce charges for parking in the on-street parking bays provided on the proposed Red Route. It is important to note that charging will not be introduced without a separate consultation at a future date.

I propose all those effected have a say.

It will inconvenience many getting to the Hawthorns and I find "Parking in marked bays will not be permitted before 7pm on a weekday evening" a bit silly for an 8pm game on a weekday evening.

Not convinced either that parking on those roads once every fortnight causes significant need of a red route. These roads only block up when the motorway is particularly busy.

Anyone else concerned?

West Bromwich Albion FC / TV Money

Quite an interesting article.

Seems we gained £45m from TV & place not bad considering we only had 10 games (the minimum I believe) on the box.

It is amazing know the bias to some clubs, Newcastle get 16 appearances on TV so despite finish below us get a bigger pot of money (over £2m) for squad investment.

Perhaps the media Bias made more so when West Ham take the most cash down to the prem.

So thoughts on this, and would you be happy to have say 5/6 more games displaced to gain probably an extra £3m quid?
