A month ago I was a bit worried about this season but this window has been amazing and the squad is better than last year. Come on you Baggies!

I feared what might happen this window but i think we have managed to do really good business which in my opinion gives us a great chance of challenging for promotion again. Huge credit to our new owner and for the first time in a while i am optimistic about the future.

It has been excellent. At the risk of being shot down in flames, full credit to the recruitment team. Provided nobody leaves, the squad is undoubtedly better than last season. It’s a fairly low bar though to be fair. Well done Albion.

A very good window and we probably made a small profit overall

Its not over yet, given the chance I would shut it right now but I agree if it was to shut now it would have been a great window.

I hope that they not only turn the fax machine off but set it on fire and throw it out the window (excuse the pun)

Johnston really boosts it a lot. It’s a much more ambitious and interesting window than we’ve had in years in terms of profiles of most the players.

Still it’s very much in the unknown at the moment, hopefully it’s a master stroke.

Its been the best window that I can remember.

Every signing, I think at least has the potential to be stronger than the outgoings we have replaced. I certainly think this squad is a stronger squad overall than last season.
The age profile of the signings shows forward planning for potential future transfer fees.
We have adequate cover in every position bar up top (which hopefully could be addressed in the closing hours with a loan)
Wage commitment has surely been reduced.
From what we can gather, we must have money in the bank so any financial problems should be a distant memory.

Hugely happy with this.

(note: if some deal materialises for Fellows I will soon reconsider)

I’ll wait until 23:00 before I get too happy. But as Baggie79 says I’d be happy to shut it right now. Excellent window to this point.

I’m a little disappointed to see Faal go as I’ve followed his progress a lot but maybe the money helped other things.

Agree with this. I’ve seen other windows lauded in the past and the results haven’t transpired. You only need to Look back to the signings off Wallace and Swift.  Generally praised, but now you see comments like ‘should never have given those deals etc’ both have probably been ok, but they haven’t pulled up trees.,

We’ve done well to lower the squad age, wages, make some money and bring in players who provide some hope though. In many respects just maintaining whilst doing that is good in the circumstances, but for it to be great needs to be proven over time. Still a decent chance as much as 8/9 starters most weeks will have been with us last year and we have signed 10 players.

I do worry about the centre backs though and have reservations on a couple of signings.  Racic, Heggam and Johnston are the pick of the signings  who I’m most excited about, suspect that’s the same for most.

Swift was good before his injury last year. When he came back he wasn’t great. This year we will get Johnstone and Fellows causing trouble on the flanks opening things up for Swift in the middle. Lots of good options up the top end of the pitch.

If it were possible to "like" comments on here, your's would get a thumbs up.

Regarding the window. I'd be up for a couple of Prem kids on loan, so they we can in turn loan out our kids. But only if it were uber cheap.

Assuming this is it big ticket wise, i'm delighted and i think we're in a position where a senior player or two may struggle to make the bench? I said to my brother that i think we're a first choice CB and a top striker away from having a team that can genuinely challenge for top 2 and that we may actually have those players already if Heggem can move to LCB once Frabotta/Styles makes LB their own and if either Maja can stay fit or if Dike remains fit once he joins the first team in November or so.

Utterly delighted and regardless of what happens this season i now know that the club are in good hands. Which is HUGE. Under Lai i honestly feared a collapse and having to Phoenix the club back, like Portsmouth and co.
Whenever things look bad, remember the Port Vale, Grimsby and Walsall days... not so bad now, eh?!

An excellent window given what we’ve had to do.

We know we’ll lose Fellows soon if he continues his form but if that is around 20m then I’m quite confident we can continue to build with that.

Let’s hope we make the prem and we don’t have to sell the gems.

Certainly a different club now.

Nearly an exceptional window, not finished yet, maybe just maybe we’ll get a decent young striker on loan
If not I look forward to January where we can add a better footballer in Central Defence and a young competent fullback to give furlong a run for his money

Then we would be in a decent position to challenge for promotion and if not the year after with further strengthening and the current squad and youngsters will be up to speed and as a club will be free of the current financial restrictions  8)

Just over 3 hours left till close of near perfect window. Only thing which could spoil it would be Fellows being poached, but if any club has such plans they're cutting it a bit fine now. When you consider he'd need to drive somewhere, complete a medical and our fax machine would have to work ;)

At this moment and time I’m extremely happy with the business we have done, seems exciting again! Just hoping it’s more Mowbray than Irvine in terms of signing a number of players let’s all be honest about, we either had never heard of them or knew very little about. I remember at the time being happy with the recruitment of Blanco, Davidson, Gamboa etc and look how that turned out  ???

Well, Pulis was their manager eventually so I guess we’ll never know how good it might have been. Some talented players joined that year.

I’m taking it as a wait & see. We know that MJ will I add quality to the starting 11 & certainly by the looks of things Heggem will do the same. Who knows what qualities Diakite, Frabotta, Racic, Dobbin & Styles will add.

One noticeable thing about this window is we’ve had a clear plan & we have recruited to it. We’ve clearly gone after tall, athletically built players so we will be a more mobile team. It was really noticeable how much more mobile Southampton were against us in the playoffs last year & we’ve tried to rectify that this summer.

It’s just good after all of these years to have a club with a clear plan & long term recruitment vision again.
