You can always rely on Stoke to come in for sloppy seconds.

Perhaps both Swift and his mate Wallace were paraded round the VIP area of the East Stand yesterday with high viz placards reading

Probably unlucky not to win in the end.

But lack of centre forward allowed them to defend centrally. And furlong at fault for their goal
Looking at the replays, a hint of offside for their goal

Diang is a miss, he was having a good game

Pity Grady only performs every tenth game

Wallace is a liability nowadays - giving the ball away too frequently

Molumby seems to enjoy giving goalkeeper practice - always straight at him

11th Corner for us.

Corners make no difference for us - we rarely score from them

No use being the better side in two thirds of pitch and useless in final third

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Tony Mowbray appointed as Head Coach
« on: January 18, 2025, 10:17:53 AM »
I've kept quiet through this whole manager search. Offered no opinion, made no judgements, just left Bilkul to do their job.

They've appointed Tony Mowbray. We all thought Raphael Wicky was set to be appointed and he appeared to be Bilkul's first choice. However, at the time Mowbray hadn't had his all clear whether or not that played any part in Bilkul's initial (apparent) decision we'll never know.

I always think with head coaches it's all about the fit, about what a club needs at that time. Corberan was the perfect fit at the time he was appointed but I think he'd probably reached his ceiling with us, I was never convinced he could ever get us promoted.

I think Mowbray could be the perfect fit right now. It's such a shame that Josh Maja's injury has come along and it might mean we struggle to get into the play offs this season. It's not all about this season though, it's about a longer term than that.

With Mowbray in charge it should at least see an end to sitting back, trying to see out a one goal lead for half the game against inferior opposition that have caused us no threat. That has really irked me this season.

Welcome back Tony and good luck.
Agree with all you say Atomic.
I too have, apart from a couple of occasions, avoided posting on this subject as 99% of posts were pure supposition constantly repeating what had previously been stated. The replacement of Corboran would be what it would be and  is what it is and no amount of posts would make a blind bit of difference.
That said, delighted to see Tony reappointed and even more so to see he has been given the ‘all clear’ following his scans.

Wonder if there will be a ‘New Manager’ bounce with the players and whether Mowbray will pop into the dressing room pre-match to gee them up with a pep talk. Although it’s Brunty’s last game, it would be nice to think Tony would say a few words.
Stoke also have a new man in charge so no doubt benefiting from that but they have lost their main goal threat in Tommy Cannon who’s been recalled by Leicester.

Delighted to see Tony Mowbray back at West Brom although somewhat disappointed when he deserted us for Celtic all those years ago but, like many of us, he wanted to better himself and experience a higher level with a bigger club.

It will be a challenge with not having the quality of squad that were available on his first appointment but an exciting ride is promised.  Best of luck Tony.

BH is more than likely Bobby Hope

Exactly right Tegga…. Well done for working it out along with Matheus Pereira.
Tongue in cheek, I was just giving examples of how difficult it can be unless the initials very commonly used and known by 90% of the forum members.
Thanks for your agreement and support Oldbury!
