Albion are very much in the race to sign Chelsea's Conor Gallagher on loan. https://expressandstar.com/sport/football/west-bromwich-albion/2020/09/09/albion-hot-on-the-heels-of-gallagher-loan/

If we get CG and Krov i'm assuming CG will be asked to be the DCM?

There were a couple of people on social media hinting Krov is less likely than previously thought. I wonder if Gallagher being available might be the reason for Krov delay?

It's more likely that Krov will be signing come what may but we holding it back as depending on who else we sign we don't know yet if we are better off getting him on loan again with an option to buy or just signing him outright. I suspect we've agreed either option in principle, but are wary of using up a loan space whilst we are in discussions for other players. I'd be amazed if ultimately we don't sign him as all parties want the move to happen and he was a big favourite in the dressing room.

For example if we get Gray and Gallagher on loan then we'd have to buy Krov whilst if we sign Grant and get Gallagher on loan we can then loan Krov (as we can only loan two players at any one time).

Sounds like CG can play defensive or attacking MF whereas Krov is only AM. Depends how hard Benfica want to play.

I also think Gallagher has more of an engine and eye for goal. I really like Krov and his ability to keep possession and dictate play but Gallagher seems more direct.

I'd say we need both. Any injury to Sawyers or Livermore and we are left with Harper and Field who aren't good enough IMO.

I may be wrong but I thought  loan signings from abroad don't count towards the domestic total?

Quite right, we are allowed to loan two players (from different clubs) but as I understand it, unlimited loans from abroad. Watford survived on multiple loans from abroad for years

Can guarantee our midfield will be getting suspended at some stage also - probably synchronised as per last year. We most definitely need at least one addition.

Don’t think there is anybody left with us who would have been involved in that to be fair

Izzy Brown left 7 years ago most of the people at both clubs have moved on, it is all about the money if it is right Chelsea will play otherwise they won't. I don't see Gallagher making it at Chelsea they have reverted to buying ready made talent rather than actually using the academy to develop players for their first team.

I would love it if we could get an option to buy, but that's me being greedy.

Conor Gallagher on loan would be an excellent signing. Possibly one we could look to buy at the end of the season aswell

We should not sign him on the basis he can’t spell his own name correctly  :D

The big question for me is can he pronounce his surname properly?

Tommy Docherty allegedly put someone on the transfer list because he couldn't pronounce his name! Might have been one of his gags though.

I've heard that the player has the options of Leeds and us.

He wants Leeds, because they'll finish higher.

Chelsea want him to come to us because he'll play more.

He will provide the legs and energy that is currently lacking in our midfield.

I think I would prefer his signing rather than the considerable amounts we're likely to spend on Krovinovic

Its a close call between him and Krovinovic.
He does seem highly rated, although to be honest he didn't stand out when playing against us. He probably gives us a bit more defensively than Krov, but Krov fits in well playing with Pereira, Dianga etc. Krov has also expressed a strong preference to play for us, whilst it seems Gallagher is not so fussed.

I don't know too much about the lad but we desperately need midfield reinforcements. Beyond Sawyers and Livermore we have very little quality.

I think we could do with Conor and Krov at a minimum although i suspect that still leaves us without a genuine ball winning midfield player.

On a loan the player will go where he is told generally like Lukaku.
