I dont think any of the officials have a clue what there doing, wasnt a red card for me for vidic and earlier on that spurs player who got given offside when he was about two yards onside, beyond a joke now.

Not seen the game but Sky score centre reckon it was a shocking tackle and claimed Rafael could have gone just afterwards. Will watch the game later.

Vidic will be a massive miss for United, they played well at times today, but they massively miss Rooney and Van Persie. cant help but enjoy the transnational period for Man Utd though. A great win earlier for Spurs, Tim Sherwood has got them playing some good stuff and Adebayor has been a real handful.

Think dowd got them the wrong way round, should have been a yellow for Vidic and red for Rafael in my opinion

Same here, I think if he hadn't sent Vidic off then Rafael would have gone.

Vidic may possibly get away with a yellow if they appeal. Rafael certainly wouldn't have. 2 footed whether he connects with the player or not should be a straight red.

I agree, 10x more contact in that but for some reason when it's a push penalties aren't given yet if that happened in the middle of the park would be a free kick 99/100

Definite penalty, Guzan should have been sent off for stupidity.

The Suarez one was a definite penalty. Guzan's knee collided with Suarez's leg therefore there was contact and Suarez had every right to go down.

Guzan's knee brushed Suarez's leg (which he had left dangling intentionally).

We need to banish this "there's contact so it's a penalty" notion. Football is a contact sport and therefore contact between players is to be expected. If that contact is sufficient or intentional then by all means award a penalty. I'd argue that it was no where near sufficient in this case.

except in this case he didn't leave his leg dangling, he didn't break stride, unlike the Ashley Young ones earlier in the season. It was either the cleverest dive in history or a penalty. I don't think he's that clever.

Granted it wasn't as obvious as the Young ones, but he knew what he was doing.

So basically you are saying it was a dive but it was also a penalty?  :-\

As I said before and wbako has said, football is a contact sport. If the contact is very slight and you fall down because of it that is a dive.

There is no way that contact was enough to send him flying, look back in time when full backs used to fly at wingers and players such as George Best, they used to catch them but they would stay up and carry on so I very much doubt there was contact there to bring the cheat down.

A dive is what Baines did the other night. If someone collides with someone and doesn't get the ball the ref has every right to give a foul.

We all know there are incidents quite often at training grounds but it must be pretty serious for them to suspend him and make it public, usually you would have expected a club to just keep it behind closed doors and just claim they were injured.

Found this;

Dani Osvaldo has been suspended by Southampton after a training-ground incident which left defender Jose Fonte with serious facial injuries.

The alleged incident took place during a practice match on Thursday and Osvaldo has now been suspended for two weeks by the club.

According to Southampton sources there was blood everywhere after the violent clash during match practice.

Fonte, who is known for his aggressive, niggly approach, had irritated Osvaldo during a high-tempo training session on Thursday morning.
Osvaldo finally reacted and the altercation was described as ‘brutal’ by one Saints source.

The fight was broken up by team-mates but Osvaldo has been suspended following an emergency disciplinary hearing by Southampton executives.
