A successful exercise in not going through. Ref and Bartley have cost us the game.

We weren't remotely bothered about going through, taking off 1st team regulars and bringing on kids tells the whole story.

Hopefully Kanu is out long enough for Montero and Murphy to make themselves indispensable.

Shame about the total lack of ambition even though I understand it.

Kanu did well tonight. I can't believe you're hoping for a long term injury to an Albion player who gave his all. You should be embarrassed.

HRK getting injured will be a blessing as you say

If they are going to purposely go out then they need to go up. Simple as that

Very glad we’re playing these youngsters. Something Pulis never did. HRK going off killed this tie for us

I felt our kids played well.
Bartley is terrible
Why have Gayle on the bench when the game is at 1-1 and not use him.

Disappointed as would have liked a chance at a run with how the bigger teams have been falling this year.

Sadly it looks like even when we aren't having to fight for survival and thus forfeit the cups we're having to focus on the league still and forfeit this one. Feel for anyone that made that trip and stuck around til the end.

Said it in the in-game thread that I'm expecting our rested players to turn up on Saturday and us to win or I'm not going to be happy. Ironically resting a load of the starting 11 and we've still potentially got injuries with Dawson and HRK (and potentially Field, and maybe J-Rod too?)

Saying that the kids do look bright, Harper and Field are looking more and more like first eleven players and Bond fills me with confidence. Tulloch looked lively also. The young kid Rogers missed an absolute sitter though.

Hopefully that again shows we can't play 3 at the back, especially without decent cbs and a deeper midfielder in the middle. Hopefully it also shows that Bartley should be nowhere near the starting 11, similarly Mears who I thought made some awful decisions tonight.

Took a Prem side to extra time only losing when down to 10 men. Some strange subs but can't legislate for injuries.
Proud of Harper, Field, Tulloch and Rogers, the future looks bright.
Bartley cack, just cack.
Bond better than Johnstone.

Weak link even in second string.

Someone tell me what was going on with the jrod Dawson Hegazi substitions?
I think they are intending to bring back the 3 at the back formation and they were interchanging the players to see who worked best

Darren too naive.

Nonsense, his game plan worked until Kanu pulled up lame.

I'm embarrassed he's a regular starter for us. I must have missed all the goals and assists he provides week in week out.

Possible, Brighton were getting there full backs in behind our two wide strikers and causing us problems, I thought Darren switched it to counter that.

This , as I posted myself Moore's done it every Cup game so is to be expected . We can't moan he doesn't play the kids if we don't accept how he does it .
Look how Harper has stepped up in the League after breaking through in Cup games , lets hope the likes of Tulloch do the same.

Excellent from the kids tonight, all of them.

Like to know if Dawson or Rodriguez were injured before I say anything about the subs, if Dawson especially was not injured then Darren you cost us that tonight.

Why so much negativity about HRK?

Thought he done a decent job tonight and received a standing ovation on Saturday.

Hopefully he’s not out for long, we’re goinh to need him with our run in

Darren Moore is not good enough match coach - fact
Not good enough to what? Beat a team from the league above with 10 men?
Ridiculous comment.
And no it's not a fact. It may be your opinion but fact it is not.

In my opinion the negativity is due to him being awful.
It is not the taking part, but the winning that counts.

how i miss the days when cup competitions meant something to the club. this was a great chance to progress with a home tie in the next round. said before when do we benefit from resting first steamers from cup games? where are the players who cost us Saturday?  I think they earn enough to play twice a week.
couldnt care less about the Premiership where we'd get murdered week in week out so at least have a go in the cup.
another thing whoever coaches our defence at improving them one jot.

Think we should have put Gayle on when they equalised through incompetent defending by Bartley and Dawson. Kanu should have stayed on to occupy their defence.

Great management by Darren Moore. Gave the kids a great run in the cup and took a prem side at near full strength to extra time over two leg. Roll on the weekend.

Decent performance and well done to the kids but Brighton wanted it and we (manager) didnt.  They bring on their top striker to win the tie for them whilst we leave our top scorer on the bench.

Take a step back, sit down and have a little think on this.

You are saying that the game plan was working until Kano got injured, implying that he was important to the team. Yes?

You are then embarrassed that he's a regular starter for us. Whose fault is that? Does Kanu pick the team now or is this still Darren Moore?

Fair enough, it is my opinion. I think he has made a lot of strange tactical decisions and subs throughout the season. Tonight was no exemption, reverting to a backthree with Mears as wingback, playing Rogers instead of Gayle, not throwing everything forward last 5 mins and so on
