When they played their first four games Villa fans were everywhere, giving it the big'un and plastering pictures of the league table all over the net.

At that point they had scored 4 and had about 6 shots on target.

Don't worry they said, we're way ahead of you lot they said.

Even after the last three seasons they are still as cocky as ever and I don't understand how or why?

They will survive Benteke will hit some form or they'll finish 3rd from bottom and the team above will have points deducted for something.

Whatever it is they jam out of it. That's why I cannot get exicted this early in the season.

It seems though (looking at other places on the net) that some albion fans are already getting carried away.

I just hope that silly song some of our fans sing doesn't make a return as that would be embarrassing.

I just can't see them getting relegated, even though they are dire at the moment and got battered last night.

This is their pattern under Lambert it seems; lose a few games and struggle throughout, with some awful football thrown in, but ultimately win enough and grind the odd result out of nowhere. Without sounding cocky I think our players are superior to theirs...I think most clubs can say the same.

However, for the past few seasons we've been here before; Villa have a string of embarrassing losses but come up with the goods eventually, it always happens :(

We are bound to throw them a few points too, even when they shouldn't get them.

I will give them that they've had an extremely tough start to the season and still probably overachieved on expected points from those first 10 games. It does put a lot of pressure on them to start picking up the points from now though.

As they do love their history, it's worth mentioning that they haven't lost this many league matches on the bounce since spring 1963, when they got beaten eleven times on the trot.

Lambert going for the record books in the only way he can?

Is it worth mentioning they could create history on 13th December by losing their twelfth consecutive league match?

That would be at the hands of...West Bromwich Albion.

Oh my word. What a Christmas present that would be.

I think Lerner has lost all interest in the club, until he sells I don't think anything will happen there.

No game is easy as we know but they need some wins there. Hopefully Delph is still out when we play them and if Benteke can get sent off again just before that would be nice

Only so many times you can pull through it, sooner or later they will go down. Benteke may not be 100% match fit by the time we play them as it will take him a few weeks after been out for so long and with him now missing Villa's next three games.

Goalless Villa forced to cancel goal of the month contest
Aston Villa's goalless streak has comical conclusion

Aston Villa have been forced to cancel their October Goal of the Month competition - because they didn't score any.
Villa played three Premier League matches during the month losing 2-0 to Manchester City, 3-0 to Everton and 2-0 to Queens Park Rangers.

They also failed to score in their last two games in September losing 3-0 to both Arsenal and Chelsea, and in all went five successive matches spanning 547 minutes without a goal, until Andreas Weimann scored in the 16th minute against Tottenham Hotspur at Villa Park on Sunday.

Their previous goal had come in the ninth minute of their 1-0 win at Liverpool on September 13, but Weimann's goal, scored on November 2, did them no good in the long run as they ended up losing 2-1 - their sixth straight league defeat.

When they beat Liverpool in the middle of September they were second in the tabl. But following Sunday's defeat to Spurs they are now 16th, one point above the relegation zone.

In that five-match goalless period, Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo netted 20 times, while Watford went through three different managers.

Just to add to their demise it now transpires they are officially the worst supported club in the Premiership managing only to fill their ground to 84% of capacity on average through out the season.

I just read that both Delph and Vlaar will be out of contract at te end of the season, so Vile's last chance to cash in on them in any way is to sell in January.

Yup!

Lambert was interviewed earlier in the week and he said that both Vlaar and Delph are able to speak to any other club in Jan (about moving in the Summer) and he pretty much said that they won't discuss a new contract until after Jan and that they're keeping there options open.

Delph has just broken into the England squad and Vlaar is an ok defender when in a decent partnership. They'd be stupid to sign a contract now.

I think they are a really weak squad now, take those 2 out and they are in dire straits IMO.
