just spotted that ex Borussia Dortmund manager and CL finalist Edin Terzic, in talks with top Iranian club. I would have thought that having already coached in England (with Billic at West Ham), he'd be more interested in a position here. The bloke is young and did very well at Dortmund.

Surprised that Potter has many admires as he does always linked with jobs that fans of those clubs want. I don't get it he's not really done much if you think about it.

Shurely we now must add Wayne Rooneys name to the list. He is a shoe in...

Mini update:

"@talkwba

Looking more and more likely that Mark Robins will be on his way to Stoke after being interviewed the other day.

Steve Cooper links also died down on our end as of recent. Nothing concrete yet however. #wba"

Igor Tudor seems the most interesting. But he also hardly ever stays at a club and i'd imagine the owners want stability.

Whenever things look bad, remember the Port Vale, Grimsby and Walsall days... not so bad now, eh?!

What did he do with those “so many chances at Coventry”?  Only took them from
League 2 to Championship playoffs and an FA Cup semi-final!

Pretty sure one of Cov’s promotions were a default after the COVID pandemic as the season was never finished.

I have much more faith in our owners than that.

The long list of candidates seems to be whittled down by the day. As ever how serious our interest was in any of the potential candidate we will never know.

But for what it was worth I didn't think Carsley was the worst option without being my first choice.

Correct but they were 8 points ahead of 3rd place with 12 games remaining.  Same for all 46 teams in the division to base it on points per game

I liked Robins as a player and i like him as a coach but i didnt realise he is 55!
I would like someone around 40ish
whose been around learning the game and how to make players better, so all the mistakes are out of his system and ready for the big challenges at WBA

Correct. I really don't understand the reputation he has when everything he did was abroad and it was apparently revolutionary that he showed his players videos of animals if I remember right.

A failure at Chelsea and now just happy to on his pay off.

There was more to it than that - it was about fostering a bond between players, and while some of the techniques were unusual (getting the players to put on a play), he got Östersund promoted three times and did reasonably well in Europe with them too.

He's tactically aware and his Brighton side played some lovely stuff.

Anywho, he's out of our reach so it's all moot

I heard on a podcast somewhere, may have been the liquidator, that day to day management ie club, doesn’t shut Carsley’s personal situation.

I suppose getting the players to watch Jungle Book at Chelsea didn't work out for him, but the play they did ended with "O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou payoff".

Poch and Maresca have done much better with them than he did, and any manager fake Albion appoint seems to do well because of their excellent recruitment, which has little input from the manager.

Randon name for the next head coach.... Urs Fischer.
He has achieved amazing success in Germany over the last few years,  seems like an able coach who is dedicated to his teams. Was sacked in November for poor results.  I just looked at that squad and didnt  know  any of them. Small fish in a strong league.
Think he may be worth a look

Steven Schumacher has gone odds on to replace Rooney which takes him out of the picture for us (if he was ever in it). Our next manager market isn't moving aside from both Robins and Steven Schumacher drifting with both on the verge of accepting alternative jobs.

Igor Tudor remains 3/1 favorite on 3 books John Heitinga is as short as 5/2 but on a book that isn't quoting a price for Igor Tudor at all. Er..... I don't know I suspect whoever it is will arrive out of the blue.

Urs Fischer is a good shout but you would have think he's earned himself another role in the Bundesliga at some point in the future.

Trouble with this Igor Tudor (sounds like a Russian spy) is during his coaching career he’s never stayed long with any of his clubs and has been on the dole since June last year.

What I have read about Williams does sound pretty good in terms of style of play I just hope we employ someone that can keep us in the play-off picture.

Found an article about Swansea under Luke William, copied except below and there’s more detail on the link. Could read as a Corberan and West Brom review!

https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/news/63117/swansea-city-a-look-at-the-bigger-picture-under-luke-williams

The statistical data surrounding Luke Williams side is impressive from a defensive aspect and in terms of keeping possession of the ball, Swansea rank as one of the best sides in the division. In the opening nine games this season, Swansea have conceded just six goals. Luke Williams has been the first to admit that his coaching staff have focused hugely on limiting chances created, which has not always been a consistency in typical Luke William’s sides. It is easy to see that there is a real sense of belief and character engrained in this squad, a team that looks set for war every time they set out. Ben Cabango and Harry Darling have been exceptional at the back, making some incredible tackles and keeping Swansea City alive in games. Despite the defensive solidarity, the data and chances at the other end have not all been positive holding an XG of 1.08, scoring below the expected rate.

I really can't understand why Schumacer and Williams are even being considered.

We need a coach who has a proven record of taking us to the next level. A coach who knows what it takes to get promoted or a coach who has contacts that will able us to get some good youngsters on loan, similar to Harvey Barnes who nearly pushed us to promotion.

Neither Schumacer or Williams can provide either of these. Both are probably capable of keeping us in the Championship similar to Corbrean but no way will they get us promoted or attract the right players. So appoint one of these two and just enjoy a sustained period of being an average championship club.

In the article where this news broke I think it said Carsley would like to manage a club but that day is a few years off yet
