Sent off for Jamaica in the 86th minute last night so I'm assuming he's suspended for their next game and therefore should return well rested for us!

Hopefully, it's more serious and 3 game ban.

I like him but executes some of the softest headers i've ever seen. If you run into him must be like flying into a pillow.

Named in the Championship team of the week which I found surprising.

Why? He didn't have a bad game.  The clearance off the line kept us in with a point.

I thought he had a good game, especially first half, made a couple of mistakes second half that nearly cost us though.

Agreed, seems generally decent at this level but seems to fall alseep in brief spells!

He's not great. Bartley and Heggem should be our centre half pairing.

I noticed the discussion that has broken out on the Maja thread concerning the reported £75k a week salary that Holgate is earning at Everton. Firstly we are paying only a very small part of it. I would be staggered if we are paying more than 25% of it. Secondly it is entirely possible that is his Everton salary it has to be remembered that he signed that deal at the height of Moshiri's spending spree. If you are blowing £250k a week on James Rodriguez, then £75k a week to secure the future of an up and coming talent (Holgate signed the deal on the back of his best season at Everton) is buttons.

Well 4 years on Holgate is in the Championship and that's his level and the contract looks bad and Moshiri has lost £100m's. I hope Mason has looked after his money because the next contract will be a fraction of his current one and it shouldn't be at the Albion.

Holgate is absolutely fine, infact pretty good, as a right back understudy for Furlong. As a first choice centre half he's a no no, as a back up he's OK for the odd game but not over a period.

I'd bring him in if the deal suited us financially because we have no back up for Furlong otherwise.

If the deal doesn't suit move on and find, predominantly, a recognised right back.

As above, I'd have him for his versatility but only if it's on reasonable wages.

Mason was excellent first time around, this time not so much i'm afraid. Did'nt help that Corberan ignored him for the first part of the season, ( as he did disgracefully with Styles ) . I don't think that Holgate would wish to stay if we are still in the Championship , and in my opinion if we make it to the Prem, IMHO we should look elsewhere.
If we took him on as cover for Furlong, words fail me

Fully agree he has been underused/ignored and due to that didn’t look fully ready ..but for me he plays ahead of Bartley and Ajayi easily .
His flexibility is a bonus and I’d sign him

Was a regular for Everton under Ancelotti
He's way better than Semi IMO

Semi isn't great but he's better than Holgate at CB. If you look at the goals we concede Holgate is usually at least partly responsible.

When he was here previously he played RB. That is his best position.

He's a solid, reliable pro, and he could do a good job during a rebuild if he wants to be here.  I think he will be able to earn more elsewhere though

Whole lot of years in front of him as well, if he can be tempted into signing on a perm for reasonable wages, we'd be silly not to imho.

Weird, I think he’s average at best. And has a part to play in a lot of goals we concede.

Surely most centre backs have a part to play in most goals conceded, considering they defend the bit in front of the goal!

I'm the opposite and I think he is excellent and would love him to be KB's replacement, as he's available for a free next summer.

Him and Heggem in cb and CT as a sub and CB & SA freed.

This place is for debate and i'm definitely not here to shout you down. But for me, if you review the goals where he is a CB, he's at fault for most of them. He is too short, too weak and has a maddening ability to get out of the way of shots. Literally leaps out of the way.
Whenever things look bad, remember the Port Vale, Grimsby and Walsall days... not so bad now, eh?!

So weak and half-soaked. Not a CB, more a full back.

He's an adequate back up right back. As a CD he's awful. You can see why he keeps getting loaned out.
