116-112?? Felt Fury Vs Usyk 2 was a lot closer than that!

I thought it was closer too but to be fair I don’t really think Usyk was troubled by Fury. Usyk does not seem to have a pain threshold, when Fury did land he just smiled and carried on. Bloke is made of granite.

Probably a narrow minded view but I am not bothered about promotion this season, we are in no shape to go up and the big pot of gold we would get would only make us a little more financially secure. However we would have to give that guy in China £10m for every year we are in the premier league, and that would truly stick in my throat.

I would prefer Patel to balance the books and slowly build our capability. Never enjoyed it when we were in the top division knowing that we were going to be cannon fodder week in week out. It can be soul destroying

I see that Saudi Arabia will be ‘awarded’ the World Cup 2034 today. What a corrupt bunch FIFA are……

Did anyone see the Katie Taylor fight last night? How did Serrano not win that?

On bench 'Nelson', any ideas who?

Hopefully we will get a fleeting glimpse of him towards the end of the game. If he is any good he may get shipped out on loan for experience

Joshua was comprehensively taken apart last night by Dubois. AJs mind just didn’t seem to be in the right place: 20 seconds before his KO he was talking to someone in the crowd. Dubois was impressive and any thoughts of AJ punching from distance went quite quickly

Looks like Blackpool have had their chips. I can imagine things getting quite salty up there before too long. A few of batterings and he'll be feeling the heat. A bad wrap for them.

Cannot believe that after a trawl through the applications for the position he was the best person to fillet

I must say I didn't see what everyone else saw.

He has to score his first chance. Good that he got in that position, but he has to hit the target and the keeper was nowhere.

Otherwise, he was fine, but didn't really do much

I agree with you, could have had a dream debut but skied his chance. A few minutes later he cleared a ball and found a Swansea player. Did a bit of running and tracking, became a little bit more involved towards the end, BUT it is early days and he needs to get used to our game, along with the others.

I wouldn’t argue with him though…..

I don't know about anyone else, but I can't remember many better transfer windows than this one.
I am really optimistic about this season now

I think it has been prudent, and hopefully we can all see that it has been done for the right reasons.

I fully trust the chaos in charge, and I could not say that 12 months ago

Bartley didn’t even know he was there, left it for Palmer

Val's system failed because it was long ball + pressing. I believe Corberan's system will be more normal, i.e keep ball + pressing which is completely different. Val's was suicidal and after 2 months the players were exhausted as it just wasn't doable in the long run.

Vals system seemed to have failed everywhere except Barnsley to be fair. His style of football made my eyes bleed and I yearned for the days of Pulis football😳

Best news for me is that Pukka pies are back! Those Holland pies were not fit for human consumption.

Bit of a stalemate on the pitch but I expect Carlos to change that second half

Everyone else has already said it, but that was a joy to watch. Never know what to expect first game of the season, particularly after our pre season outings, but CC had got them looking really good. Cannot wait for next week now

I think we are going to regret this move, but if it is done for financial reasons then. I guess we can only thank the previous administration

Any of you previous f1 posters out there. I did say it was getting a bit better, yesterday proved it. A great race and I know he gets knocked by loads, but Lewis Hamilton again proved why he’s one of the greatest racing drivers of all time. In a inferior car it was him who won that race yesterday wiith one of his greatest ever drives

First race I have watched in ages and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Good to see Hamilton win and the up and coming British talent coming through, and those McLarens have improved a bit.

Another update

‘Okay Yokuslu does not want to stay in England. He wants to return to Turkey. An agreement in principle was reached with the player. There is only a small amount left in negotiations with his club. I think Be?ikta? will reach an agreement soon.'

That was a superb fight and the right man won. For all of his showboating Fury never really worried Usyk who just kept coming forward. I have no idea how Fury remained on his feet in the 9th…..
For some reason Fury thinks he won that fight too, probably needs to be checked for concussion. Looking forward to the rematch already.

I 100% believe we have a better side than Sheff Wed on paper. We didnt turn up though and they done us 3-0. The point i was trying to make is while Saints may have a better side on paper you have to turn up regardless. Don't turn up and inferior teams will do you over the same as superior sides.

I obviously misread your post. I agree we have a better side than Wednesday but like you it was a mystery to me why we were so poor. Having said that, if you’d have told me we would avoid relegation and have new owner at the start of the season, I would have ripped your hand off.

Saints turned up, we didnt. Same as with Sheff Wednesday. We have a better side than them but you have to turn up. Don't turn up, expect to lose. We got what CC chose for us.

Not sure we had the better side gaz, over the season we have done really well but I have always thought we were punching above our weight. Been a joy to watch given the perilous state our former Chinese owner put us in, but Southampton only came down this year and have Premier  quality running through them. We can only dream of having a player like Armstrong in our team.
