West Bromwich Albion FC / Cap on away ticket prices
« on: March 09, 2016, 04:00:17 PM »
Did I just hear right on SSN that the premier league clubs have agreed on a maximum ticket price for away fans of no more than £30 ??

West Bromwich Albion FC / Know your history
« on: September 08, 2015, 02:47:33 PM »
We may have only won it the once but we were TOP of the pile the first time around. On this day in 1888, West Bromwich Albion were top of the first ever league table for the Football League.

Others have followed...................BUT WE WERE FIRST  8)

West Bromwich Albion FC / Galling
« on: March 11, 2014, 10:25:41 PM »
How galling is it when you see the line - up of the 4 teams in the F A Cup semi finals this season given that we haven't been in a cup final of any kind since 1970 !! Especially when we made our usual exit from both cups without so much as a whimper.

I mean come on, Sheffield United who are struggling ( until recently ) in the 3rd division can get motivated for the cup, why cant we.

And its not just this year, its more or less every year. Even when we've been in no danger of getting relegated, we still don't give it our all when it comes to cup games.

General Football & Sports / TV technology

All this money being spent on touchline technology for a decision that "MIGHT" be needed about once a season, IF THAT !!! Why are these camera's not being used to sort of these penalties claims week in, week out !! Most of the decisions can be given inside 10 seconds so would not delay the game in any way.

Its about time technology was used to sort out these cheating twits, and I include any Albion player diving in that statement.

Millions of pounds on something that's used once every blue moon or the money spent on something that is required every week in every game. Its a no-brainer.

we were f****ng robbed by 2 cheats today who would have been exposed as such with just a 10 second delay while the footage was analysed.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Are W.B.A one the unluckiest teams ?
« on: October 28, 2012, 10:52:17 PM »
Having followed the team for Donkeys years, I can't remember us winning a game with a jammy deflection in the last minute having played poorly or come away from a game saying or thinking we got out of jail there ?

There have been games where we've played poorly and got something but I cant remember us winning in the fashion that the Geordies beat us today !Even their manager said they were lucky FFS and you never hear a premier league manager say that.

I mean look at some of the crucial games we've lost down the years to sh**y goals or in the last minute to flukes or wonder goals from players who normally couldnt hit a barn door with a shovel !

It just pi**es me off as we NEVER seem to get the rub of the green if there is such a thing.

Anyone else think the same ? Not looking for sympathy, just peoples thoughts.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Am I right ?
« on: February 28, 2012, 08:36:19 PM »
Am I right in thinking that the last Albion player to win a F A Cup winners medal was Laurie Cunningham when he came on as a sub when Wimbledon beat Liverpool ?

Can anyone confirm or clarify for me ?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Dexy pays his debts !!
« on: January 26, 2012, 08:40:23 PM »
Just to let you all know that following my post on the pre-match thread for the Stoke away game where I posted " it wouldnt surprise me if we went there and won " after how poorly we had been playing prior to that......a certain poster on here, name of DEXY replied " If they do I'll personally send you up a tenner !"

Well just to let you all know that said tenner arrived safely this morning by Royal Mail addressed to "Greenock Baggie"........god knows what the postie thought ha ha

Fair play to you DEXY and as I said, I'll buy you a pint with the tenner in The Sportsman if you drop ever in mate ;)

West Bromwich Albion FC / 3 POINTS OR CUP WIN
« on: January 09, 2012, 05:01:11 PM »
Yse I know we'd take both but IF you had to choose, which one would it be and why ?

I've re-introduced this for phbaggies ( ahem ) after further discussion. I've chosen the cup as even if we lose to them in the league, we are still strong enough to get the points we need elsewhere to stop up. IMO !

West Bromwich Albion FC / Its a funny old game
« on: December 22, 2011, 10:49:07 AM »
Had we beat Wigan and drew at Blackburn and Newcastle, most if not all of us would have taken that in the run to christmas, and we would still have ( just ) been in the bottom half of the table having collected 5 points from 3 games ( 3 + 1 + 1 ).

However Albion being Albion, we lose to wigan then win the next 2 games winning 6 points ( 0 = 3 + 3 ) ie more than the previous scenario and finishing higher in the table to boot.

Typical Albion but we love it really !

I was suicidal after Wigan but as George Formby used to say........" Turned out nice again !"

West Bromwich Albion FC / Transfer window 2011 compared to 2010
« on: June 22, 2011, 09:49:29 PM »
Am I the only one who is much more laid back this year as opposed to what was ( or wasnt ) going on at this time last year. I was one of those who last year was suicidal if we didnt sign a world class player every week of the transfer window and who was up in arms every time a story broke that we were selling one of our better players.

Its only one year on from last year but this time around I am much more relaxed than last year when it comes to getting players in, the window not even having officially opened yet for 2011.

And as for players leaving us. I havent even bothered posting on those threads to any great extent as I am able to see it as just media/agents speculation or even just the complete b*****ks most, if not all, of it really is.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Roy knows how....
« on: April 09, 2011, 05:38:32 PM »
Something has just struck me that Roy with his vast experiance and knowledge knows how to win against teams that our previous managers could not call upon. I'm not saying that he expects to win against the top teams however, he has beaten most if not all of the teams in this league.
He brings that experience to bear, knows what formations/players to play against certain teams and knows what it takes to win games.
RDM & Mowbray were naiive to say the least and we paid for it but this guy is immense.
