As we head towards the last week of the transfer window, maybe its a good idea to retain Button in goal this week.  In Val's formation (in this league at least) goalkeepers are very lightly worked and Button has done quite well so far.

It would be very difficult to persuade SJ to move now, as he's very incentivised to wait for a 'free' in the summer BUT no football for a period could make him rethink.  Very unlikely to happen, but for circa £3m - £4m (also 500k in wages)  it might be worth trying, as unfortunately he's one of very few assets we have to bolster future transfer budgets.

The Coventry win has probably secured Val's position going into the transfer window and I think resources are going to be available.

Wages are as/more important than fees these days. If we assume we are currently on/within budget on wages, we could lose a few high earners this window; e.g Snodgrass, Zohore, Hugill and possibly Johnstone if a fee is secured.

Despite the fact we don't have a DoF, the signings of Mowatt and Clarke indicate that we can find square pegs in square holes. So hopefully we can upgrade the squad and be more competitive.  Of course Johnstone leaving would be a puzzle to solve.
