I really hope he comes back as I genuinely think he cares for the club, I sat next to him on a table at the end of season awards doo and he said  that he genuinely loved the club and this was especially driven by the family atmosphere and togetherness of the club, fans and local area.

He also said he hoped to stay for as long as he could and bring success to the club and that unless forced out or a job was offered that was impossible to turn down he wouldnt walk away from the job, turns out not long after he was offered a job he just couldnt turn down for very personal reasons and he went which I have absolutely no issue with.

He was responsible for some of the best times I have had being a baggies fan (only second to the Ossie season) and for this reason he gets my full support from day one. Good luck in the job Mogga!!

Apparantly its all signed but will not be announced officially until after the Bournmouth game. Its a really good appointment for me and one I think the vast majority of fans will get fully behind.

Update on Dike from the E&S paywall:

The United States international striker has not played for 11 months after an Achilles injury sustained last February, which was his second in the space of a year.

The 24-year-old's return from a fourth major fitness setback in a little over two years at The Hawthorns was delayed in late October when he picked up a hamstring injury on return to training with the first-team fold.

Then boss Carlos Corberan said the delay was not a surprise given his time out and that the setback will help Dike in the long term. Just before his exit for Valencia, the former head coach said he had full confidence Dike would get his Albion career going again.

Under the interim management of Chris Brunt, Damia Abella and Boaz Myhill - who are set to remain in charge for a fifth game at Bournemouth in the FA Cup on Saturday - Dike took his first steps back into team training during the busy spell of games between Christmas and New Year.

Brunt said:  "Daryl has been out and about doing bits and pieces with the squad but still doing bits and pieces with the fitness coaches.
"He's progressing OK. I think with the nature of the injuries he's had we've got to be cautious with him, but he's been positive and is optimistic.
Daryl Dike was in tears as he was taken off at Ipswich in February.

"I don't think I can put a timeframe on anything without speaking to sports science and medical but he's doing OK. He's in an alright place, so let's hope he keeps progressing.

"If we can get him fit and involved towards the back end of the season he can be a big asset for us."
Dike was carted off in tears having ruptured his Achilles at Ipswich's Portman Road last February. He had only returned the previous month from the same injury, on the other side, suffered in April 2023.

Albion's plan for Dike's return is either after several full sessions with his senior colleagues, or possible match action for Richard Beale's under-21 side, who are next in action against Everton on Friday night at Solihull Moors as Premier League 2 action resumes.

If you are sick of paywalls I use the Remove Paywalls chrome extension that gets rid of them in one click (No I am not getting paid for this).

Wicky
Fischer
Hake

Not sure where people are getting these names from and why they find them credible, its certainly nobody at or surrounding the club. seems to be kids on twitter and betting sites from what I can gather?

The only managerial appointment that's taken longer in the top 2 divisions was Lampard to coventry.

Hard to believe we're just biding our time and being sensible in a way no one else does. Either everyone else is getting it wrong or we are. Unless we're about to get blindsided with an imminent appointment it very much suggests we certainly didn't get any of our top targets, if we even had any.

Wow just wow, what a bizzare post. Dont think you will be getting much support on that stance.

He clearly is a goalscorer but the problem he has always had and still has is that he carries too much weight, this means he is very rarely fully match fit. Walsall said the same thing that he just couldnt get fully fit.

Its up to him and only him now, get properly fit and shed the excess weight, hopefully then he starts to get a chance or continue along the way he is and never make it at a decent level.

I hope he chooses to put the work in as he is no doubt a goalscorer but we will wait and see which way he goes.

They did say about 2/3 days ago someone is due for a meeting with club next week ( as in tomorrow onwards) but didn't know who it was.

Wow, we are looking for a manager and we will be meeting someone next week, its like they are the reincarnation of mystic Meg.

Masterplan, use Wallace to tire the defence out then bring Fellows on to rinse them with his pace and freshness.

They seem really up for this and if we concede early I fear for us. Maybe Williams has pointed out how much he wants to beat us after what happened.

I’m not sure we’ve seen too much evidence that the club had a list “already to go “. Names mentioned so far are those already out there in the public domain . Of course it could be that we have so far managed to fly our deliberations under the radar and if so major congratulations are in order but you have to have serious doubts whether that’s possible in this day and age

In one of the early interviews they said they always have a succession plan for managers and players that is constantly updated. Yes the club is flying under the radar, everyone else is just guessing, especiaaly the bookies and "ITK" twitter lot.

It’s hard to work out whether this has been an embarrassing search for a head coach or whether that view point is formed because of dubious ITK folk chucking enough mud and hoping one sticks.

Given the touting that was being done by CC’s agent then I am disappointed that the club did not sound out candidates sooner. You would have thought we would have been close to an appointment if they had.

Surely you have answered your own question there? Some of their quotes such as "Williams either will or wont get the job" tells you everything you need to know. Its amazing they all hear exactly the same thing at exactly the same time  ;D

The club will have had a list already to go at any time as they have stated before that they have, then they will do due dillagance on these, only then when the list is shortened will they even think of interviewing. Please dont get on the clubs back because of a few people with nothing better to do than speculate to look as they know anything at all.

Diangana is such a coward in 50/50's.

Just need to keep it tight for the first 10-15 minutes of this half and they will start to give up, then we can take advantage.

Brunty does seem to have a good balance between defending well and progressive attacking.

Every time I see Thomas Frank and what he has done at Brentford you can’t help thinking that Bilic had the platform to do the same if he and his superiors at the time hadn’t been playing silly buggers.
I’m not sure if he should/could return, but that season in the championship we played some good football,Diangana was at his best ,Pererira/Krovinovic etc
Maybe if Bilic managed and we got someone like Mowbray in to support and someone bc else look after transfers (Nestor)

I am not claiming he will be our next manager but he was mentioned as a possible replacement for Corberan if he left, this was around three weeks ago. I would be very happy to see him back especially with a proper ownership structure behind him.

Great to see Bostock & Whitwell on the bench, it would be brilliant to see them both play some part today. COYB

Well gutted but it’s been clear he’s wanted out of the club for a while with the constant rumours. Left the club in a better position than he found it & can’t begrudge him a move to his boyhood club. Thanks & all the best Carlos.

The rumours have come because he has been doing a very good job, its not his fault other people link him with jobs, its also not his or any other managers job to comment on each and every bit of speculation.

Lets not try to ruin a blokes reputation who has done a very good job in very difficult circumstances and according to people around the club genuinely has feeling for the club.
