Does it really need to be done though not many other clubs do that. Ive been to so many away games were i just mingle with home fans. Were you just come and go as you please. I remember going to man utd one year and they actually let us out with the utd fans after the game, i went in their end to get out.

its not needed to be like that anymore. Im sure something could be done with the police seeing as the corners right by the away end now anyway  , not much would change.

Don't get me wrong I agree, its only the odd game where its needed. I just can't see the club allowing away fans anywhere other than the Smethwick though.

Obviously that couldnt be done now but if they were to build backwards and put another tier of seats in, it could quite easily be done.if the top section was done the corner would join up with the top tier of the east stand and the smethick.there would be plenty of seats for away fans.

Im sure the days of segregating fans outside the ground are long gone. That wouldnt need to be done now!

It is still done after every game for around half an hour or so and before certain games.

Lets just hope no-one from the club reads this then otherwise checks will be made more regularly and then you'll all start moaning about having tickets taken off you or letters asking for more money  :D

Thats all that needs to be done i think , if the capaciaty is 26,200 it would take it back up to 28,000 easily.

Then id stick the away fans in the millenium corner and have the smethick all albion.

How can you stick away fans in the Millenium corner ?, theres not enough seats available to give them the allocation they would be entitled to, it would mean giving them part of the East Stand which just ain't going to happen. Then theres the problem of the gates at the back of the Smethwick are locked after each game so the away fans can be sent back to their coaches without getting near home fans so if anything the allocation for away fans would be extended across the Smethwick.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: When Long is fit - what system do we play?
« on: November 22, 2011, 02:04:43 PM »
There was a comment from Roy in the Mail yesterday about wanting to pair Odwemwingie and Long together which after how well things worked Saturday is not so much worrying but sort of disappointing if he does go back to the two of them up top:

http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-sport/west-bromwich-albion-fc/west-bromwich-albion-fc-news/2011/11/21/west-brom-roy-hodgson-reveals-why-he-made-shane-long-a-priority-97319-29810956/2/

Hodgson is also looking forward to seeing Long partnered with Peter Odemwingie once he recovers from his knee injury that has ruled him out the past two games.

“In our dreams at the start of the season we saw them both playing but we haven’t really realised that dream yet because Peter’s performances have been sporadic,” he continued. “He’s had a lot of injuries, a lot of interruptions, so we’ve yet really to see what those two will be like together.

“We won’t know that until Peter is able to declare himself fit again.”

He's already got more managerial experience than RDM had when he came here albeit in a different league.

I think the sensible Pompey fans realise how hard a job he has and many have commented on the dross Cotterill left behind. Others though don't seem prepared to give him a chance purely because he is not the big name they think their club deserve.

He's a real threat with his movement and heading threat. With Gera about as well there's a good aerial threat. I did wonder why Shorey was back in instead of Jones but he had a really good game going forward and delivered some good crosses.
Thomas caused problems but he's got zero confidence in hitting any crosses with his left so just as well Shorey put a couple in. A wide player who can cut in AND go outside and cross for  Long / Gera would make us more dangerous.

We've got one with one of the best left foots in the Premier League - Brunt.

Another victory for Derek McInnes, 3 wins and a draw from his 1st four games.

2-1 at Millwall

11313
I know he wasn't, I just don't like him.

 :D Never have guessed

I used to despise the bloke but am growing to like him a bit more, the way he went on the TOWIE cast helped but i'll still be giving him some stick at QPR.

Be nice to see Scharner have a word in a couple of weeks though.

I think if Gera is in the side to stay just behind Long then we can accommodate Scharner alongside Mulumbu as Gera works hard defensively.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Our captain
« on: November 20, 2011, 11:46:32 AM »
One of the best left-footed players in the Prem but needs to be played effectively, he's a left winger and no matter how you try to dress it up he is not and never will be a centre midfielder, he's not strong enough for that position, he's to one-footed. The times he drifts in and wanders aimlessly around is frustrating and even more so when he waves his arm and tells others to move out wide so he can stay there.

Two managers have now persisted with him in the centre for periods of games and only once has it actually looked good which was Newcastle at home last season. We now have in Long and Gera players who can actually head a ball so why not put Brunt back on the left and use the best weapon he possesses.

Maybe then he himself wouldn't get frustrated and let his head drop during games as happens to often for the captain of the side.

Albion Matchday Forum / Re: The return of Robbo
« on: November 20, 2011, 11:40:44 AM »
I think its a disgrace that any professional footballer refuses to play because his head isn't right when he can't get the move he wants.

The comment about chilidish I take exception to, this bloke I have said always gave 100% on the pitch, wouldn't ever deny it but the actions of a professional off the pitch trying to engineer a move were a disgrace. How many of you who are okay with Robbo's action have criticised Tevez lately ?

There's also the fact that it was the first time he had played here since his actions up at the Reebok on Boxing Day when he gave the crowd the stick despite hardly receiving any abuse himself from the travelling fans, small pockets gave him stick but the rest of us ignored him until he made a point of over-celebrating in front of us both when they scored and at the end, thats something else fresh in the mind.

First words to RDM - 'I want to leave'

Some see it one way, some see it other ways.

11317
I don't think he was having a pop at Scharner at all, he also said:

He's certainly a little eccentric, in a good way though. Game has character deficiencies, more needed......

I don't buy the chants of 'one greedy b*^%rd' to be honest, wasn't about money it was the way he went about it. Not sure how anyone can chant that when Gera did exactly the same and is now back as a hero.

I don't have a problem with anyone leaving to better themselves, just ask a bit of class and dignity in doing it, Greening is an example of a player who left and won't be jeered or abused when he returns.

Probably not just you.

I would never deny he gave 100% in a game, sometimes to much but always committed but its the actions in trying to leave which niggle and cause the tension, he tried to leave for 3 successive seasons, his first words to RDM were 'I want to leave', his 'head wasn't right' for the Burnley game which along with Davies if I remember right also playing silly buggers forced to us to play an unfit Clement all the while kissing his badge, waving is fists and playing to his 'hero' status to the crowd.

Thats what has soured it for many of us.

I'm glad he had that good run at the very end of the game when he took the fullback on.  Other than that he did very little.  He had a couple of chances to attack beforehand and didnt.  A confident full firing Dorrans wouldnt have hesitated.

I'd consider sending him out on loan to the Championship for a month to get some game time and with regular action I think he'll discover his best form again and hes not going to get that with the odd 15-20 minutes as a sub.

I agree mate, Portsmouth would be a great move under Appleton for a couple of months, get match fit, regular games and then hopefully we'll see the Dorrans of old. No doubt i'll get the comments of never done it in the prem etc (he has by the way). Does seem to be issues a bit deeper than just lack of game time and form though.
