Simple positive pass is the point....what do you do if there isn't one which was usually the case with Liverpool's work rate ? often yesterday the only passing option was to go back.
There were times when there was a simple, positive option though, yet we engineered a more difficult negative one.
Not saying we should never go back, but we seem to instinctively look back towards our own goal.
Fletcher was facing their goal, and virtually kicked the ball over his own head, back towards Foster. It would have been easier to hoof it the other way.
It seems to me that we have an ethos of, if in doubt play safe, which is fine but playing back towards your own goal is not always the safest option. In fact it can often be the exact opposite.

Nightmare journey. Went to Lime Street, they hadn't got a clue what was going on. London Midland were usless to.

End up on a train to Liverpool Parkway, then MerseyRail put a coach on for loads of Albion. Stopped at Crewe and took hours to get hom. Got in just short of 2am.

Can't beat an anyway  :o .

i didnt expect any other result really. loose again on saturday(most likely) its unlikely but we could be in the bottom 3 after Leicester if results go against us

Or...we could be in top 10 after a victory

Man City haven't won in 5 games, down get me wrong we tend to hand teams in those situations the game to get back on track but it wouldnt surprise me if we got something out of it

We simply have to drop Fletcher. He's not adding anything at the minute other than being a captain. Huge role I know but another poor performance can't go overlooked.

Brunt needs to be involved again at the weekend.

The fullback situation is a joke. Both sides are urine poor . Feel sorry for Nyom as he's not a left back, even so, he's still not very good

Agree with this Tom, Phil Neville on MOTD2 last night highlighted that they seem to be struggling with playing 3 at the back...Kompany in particular.
If we can get the ball up the park quicker like we did against West Ham, Stoke and Sunderland and a bit against Spurs then we could cause them problems.

We looked at other train routes (Wigan/Chester) but seemed a gamble so stayed the night.

Not much we can claim back as still used our train tickets and didn't pay anything for hotel

Glad to hear that.

I use the train all the time and usually they are okay maybe a few minutes late but that's all. I made quite a few claims last season though!

For fans that don't use trains very often. If your journey is delayed by 30 mins you will often be entitled to 50% of the fare back. If it's a delay of an hour or more then you usually get all of it back. It can depend on the type of ticket you have (I usually buy two singles rather than 1 return ticket) so best to check.

I quite often just drive now and park somewhere on the route back to the motorway. Did it for Leicester and Liverpool and I'm so thankful I did especially for the former. Just can't rely on public transport at all! Trains drive me nuts haha, overcrowded, quite often delayed, and often expensive, but then again maybe i'm just cynical.

It should only be the return leg as that was when the delay occurred.
