West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Stadium Expansion
« on: February 11, 2015, 03:13:01 PM »
If Villa go down, wolves miss out on promotion and we manage to stay up, which is a good possibility, we should take full advantage of being the only club in the West Midlands to be competing in the Best league in the World. This means increasing the capacity and promoting ourselves to the younger generation. Make going to the Albion more fun. Safe standing would encourage this by improving the atmosphere. Attractive football would help too but can't see us getting that for a while now  ;)

What's happend to Mulumbu? That game was crying out for him instead of morrison. I know he can give silly free kicks away (which Morrison was doing anyway) but he retains the ball well and plays with passion. Think him and Gardner should be the midfield

I've got to head into brum to the Xmas market tomorrow so I was hoping I could catch the game in a nearby pub or bar. does anyone know where I might catch it in the city centre or by the market itself?

Martin Jol for me. He knows the league well has done well abroad, is an ex Baggie and will commands respect as he's not a nobody like we normally go for who let the old boys dictate.

Irvine should stick to what he's good at which is teaching the basics to kids. He is way out of his depth even in the championship, he just doesn't have the personality or the know how to drag us out of this mess and if we don't get rid now we will continue to drop down the league whilst Irvine stands there with his hands in his pockets wondering what plan B was. I almost feel sorry for him looking so lost but then I remember how much he's getting paid to make bad decisions.

Best obviously Lukaku. Fortune came in and did well under Mowbray. Also going back some time, Graham Fenton made a name for himself here. Worst id say Ryan Donk was pretty poor and Martin Fulop. Not sure if he was a loan or a signing but that game against Arsenal was the worst goalkeeping I have ever witnessed. At the time I was convinced he'd took a back hander so Arsenal Could get into champions league.

Should have kept Fortune in my opinion. Did all the holding up play but with the benefits of being faster score and assist more and could stay on his feet. Would have saved 6 million

Out of interest how much do you think Berahino is Worth? He reminds me very much of a young Defoe who at the same age in 2004 went to spurs for around 10 million (7 million plus Zamora) Defoe had scored more prem goal but had played many more games, but Berahino's u21 record wipes the floor with Defoe's. I would say if he continues to have a good season and gets between 10-15 goals he must be worth 20 million at least. If Longs worth 12 million and he is only going to get you 6-8 goals a season then Berahino must definitely be over that.

Played well today but he is not a right midfielder, he kept drifting into the middle and wisdom ended up taking up two roles. Needs to be used in the middle but who do you leave out is the big question?

Must be an improvement on Sinclair and gives us something different to Brunt when we need to so I think this is a decent signing. I like the fact that he raises his game for the big matches because every game is in the prem, so I think we can get the best out of him.

I think this would be a good bit of business. I know it doesn't get the pulses racing but we've going to need about 8 new players this summer. I think we'll only get 10/12milliin to spend so that will only get us 2 or 3 players and we'll get another 2 or 3 on a free and the same for loans I reckon so he'll make a decent squad player replacing Reid

Who cares about bayern Munich....we are Albion!!! Blue and white strips is all I've known and all I care About.  Looks like another pr disaster by the board!!!!!!!!!!!!
im just saying that the template could be same as it does seem to have some pin stripes which is what everyone seems to think that we will have, and if it is then i don't think it looks too and keeping in with tradition

Sorry if this is slightly off topic but I was getting annoyed at one of my Facebook friends who is a Wolves fan boasting that the they were getting over 30k fans in league one and that Albion can't even do that in the prem. I didn't want to lower myself by rising to it but I'm pretty sure we got over 30k against Stoke in the 92-93 season, possible against Swansea too in the play off semi, Can anyone confirm what the attendance was?

Didn't realise we were in such a dire state back then, losing 30k a week!. Makes you realise how lucky we are today.

They had 4 pitch invasions today! The ref nearly had to abandon the game. And they haven't even won the league yet, thick b***ards!

Few weeks ago I was talking to a guy who is a friend of JP, and there had been talk of us building a new stadium across the road where the bakery is. He didn't mention when this was talked about so its was probably something that was discussed a while ago, maybe even before we build the east stand. Wouldn't really want to move but maybe we are a bit limited where we are so i guess it was discussed as an option, doubt it would ever happen.

Just can't see how we can survive now. Us fans gave them everything today and if you can't beat a poor Cardiff side at home having scored 3 goals then who can you beat?

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Chris Brunt
« on: March 19, 2014, 03:59:34 PM »
Don't get me wrong, I think Ridgewell is shocking, but I just don't see the logic in saying that Brunt is a worse defender than him but drop Ridgewell anyway and play Brunt in his left back position.

And as for making us more creative, I can't see it honestly.
what I should have said is when on form Ridgewell is a better defender but he has been shocking for a while now and I feel if we are to continue with playing 3-5-2 than Brunt would be better suited as he offers us more going forward.

I don't think Brunt being played instead of Ridgewell would make us anymore weaker than it already is, I just think it would make us more creative. For me Ridgewell is out of form and needs to be dropped. Makes no difference now anyway whilst Brunts injured as id rather Ridgewell than Popov.

I really wish we would try Brunt at left back or wing back I think he would be a lot more useful than Ridgewell. We really need a quick tricky winger who can help us counter attack and Brunt is not that type of player as he can sometimes slow the game down but he offers too much to be dropped with his corners, free kicks and splitting balls. At left back he could still offer us that and can over lap to put some decent crosses in, he would be a good option for Foster to throw to and although he may not be a better defender than Ridgewell He is faster and is maybe better with his head.
