For someone who has been a model pro in terms in fitness and sort of reminds me of boring James Milner he sure does get himself into a pickle of 2.

Gareth Barry has officially left the Albion.

Some, no doubt, will shout "good riddance" for a host of logical and illogical reasons, others will be indifferent, but I would like to thank him for his overall service to the Albion regardless of any indiscretion or misdemeanour. I respect the footballer and record holder of most games played in the Premiership.

Good luck in the future Gareth

Very harsh , in the play off year there was a good chunk of that season were he was our best player by a mile . Townsend never got above a 3 out of 10 in any game  ;D

Yep I'll second your comments. There's a reason he has the most premier league appearances and 70 odd England caps. For the most part his class was still there to see and shouldn't be remembered for the Newcastle game (or taxi-gate).

Pardew was driving the taxi, not Barry but he took one for the team. I have that on solid authority but we’ll never know will we!

I'm with that sentiment, 100% A quality player who was of course past his best when we signed him (now that sounds familiar does it not??)

Funny you should mention that as a former player of ours was adamant that Barry was behind the wheel that night.
It doesn't matter how many resources you have.

From what I heard Barry was in Mcdonalds with the taxi driver when it was driven away. The whole episode wasn't as sinister as led to believe.

Well we will won't we? By accepting the official account. Gareth Barry's word and the word of the ex-player cited by Dan. As opposed to forwarding far fetched conspiracy theories about a wildly unpopular manager.

Maybe has the makings of a film. Do you think Hollywood might be interested?

Did well out of his last season financially for his locker room leadership but that aside a fine player over the years. Enjoy retirement

People saying he was our best midfielder for 18/19.. we didn’t have a midfield for the 18/19 season.

Great career. Poor contribution to the Albion. Surprised by the the number of positive responses.

An example of how not to recruit in my opinion. The clubs we aspire to join in stature don’t rely on has beens around the squad and neither should we.

Thanks for the chant, Gareth.

I think those wishing him well aren't just considering his time with us but his career as a whole.
